Someday you will have to deal with illness (you or someone close to you) and if you don't have money you will understand why that is a terribly flawed model. If I was born in the US (before or after obamacare) my family would have been bankrupt before my sister was 10, and I would probably be dead if I wasn't 20 grand in debt because of something I and my family had no control over. Eye and dental care isn't free and most people have supplemental insurance for things like over the counter drugs and other health expenses that aren't covered like prosthetics, orthopedics, massage or ostomy supplies. No definite facts yet regarding why. Science is guessing to protect pregnancies and when nursing, so the kids can get all the benefits of having the antibodies without the risk of a sick sick mother. Watch out for the argument saying women are not accepted in dangerous jobs, often with reports of harrassment. Same reason for injury and death. I would absolutely welcome it! After a recent surgery many birth co trip options were no longer optioms for me and options for my boyfriend: condoms or surgery. It's terrible that only women can control their own bodies. It's also terrible that women are forced to take all the risks associated because it's often not safe for women. I would like parents to teach it as well, however not all parents have the same view on things as I do - and may not see consent as important. In Ontario there is HUGE backlash on adding consent to the sexual ed cirriculum. I think it's still being faught and it's been like years. I think women are just as ignorant about consent - as many are pressured into sex and don't know how to handle it. It may be a good idea to have classes seperate and together, just like sex ed.
