Seriously, what damage did you sustain from women?

Best way to get a shit ton of female friends to get a girlfriend and be a good boyfriend.

That's a good outlook. Wanting to be the best you can be is a noble, excellent goal. But if you think every woman can be picked up, you have to include your own girlfriend. If you think your own girlfriend can be picked up, you're gonna have a bad time.

A whole hell of a lot of guys get into this because they've been hurt by girls, and want revenge. They naturally gravitate towards aggressive game playing, they're fighters rather than lovers, and they've decided to go to war with women. Ultimately, they seem to realise that filling gaps in themselves is more beneficial than filling holes in women. Sometimes, sadly, they don't. Personally, I see pickup as a beautiful dance. You tease each other, things go back and forth, you both respond to each…

So here I am ready to do this shit, ready to start approaching randoms and failing miserably until my dick gets caught in something. Just because you have a dick doesn't mean you have to be one.

If you truly believe that, that also goes for your girl, who you, by this rationale, can never trust. You should work on that or life's going to get empty.

Thumbs in your back pockets and lean back like you don't give a fuck.

I find the key is to only approach girls who have genuinely sparked your interest in some way. If you're just approaching for the sake of approaching, well that's got its uses, but it's only ever going to be a fairly hollow and shallow experience. But if something about the girl really grabs me, like the t-shirt she's wearing, or something I heard her talk about at the bar, or her hair is staggeringly beautiful, I find that conversation just flows because I genuinely WANT to find out more about …

Ah sorry man, I moved to Oslo a year or so ago. You should see the women here...

Just want to say this was great fun to read. I don't have time to critique, but it's truly a delight to see 'Spoons' get a mention in field reports.

its actually a good point though. If your self turns out to be a dick, its a fair idea to have a backup plan.

That's not the goal of this topic though. The goal is to impress a girl. And what if, in your voyage of self-discovery, you discover that you're a dick?

Not once you've found a girl who wants to do more than give you her number. And ask any girl. ANY girl. He's not just 'a guy'.

Nice. Although a cheeky 'shut up a second' works very well too.

While picking out a grammar error of course, does. As does picking at the structure of a sentence as if it matters, even though you actually agree with the article. Time well spent there man.

The person writing the article needed to qualify his statement better. You know what Stanford is, right?

They seemed to have come out of their research thinking that questions were "bad". I didn't get that impression. The article said "Questions were used by women to keep a lagging conversation going and by men who had nothing to say." What you wrote actually correlates perfectly to that statement, in that when questions are used well, people 'click', but "asking a lot of questions tended to have a negative result."

We all automatically want to talk about ourselves, it's just that in game, if guys do it too much, they don't stand a chance. So keeping that in mind, I usually go with Juggler's advice on text game, which is usually, don't ask any questions. Say something that you've just done, or something that reminded you of her, and just leave it hanging there. For example, a great one, that works every time, is "So I just saw a girl who looks exactly like you." The way I used this a couple weeks back was: …

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
