Yes, that’s my pseudonym haha. I used it for this one since my ex and his friends are COVIDiots and purposely spread COVID, so I recently told them off and didn’t want to fuel more drama.

I wrote this when I felt this way in my past relationship but I was too afraid to publish it because of what he would think. 🙄 It’s been six months now since our breakup and just remembered it so I published it! See below comment: under a pseudonym as to not cause more drama for myself.

Lol, it's just like the Parks and Rec scene when Andy starts liking April and Ann is drunk in the bar talking about that same thing. Think about how much better a person you are for dating him and learning lessons and gaining strength/your worth because of it!

Oh I’ve definitely moved on. There’s nothing that I miss about him, the relationship, or how I felt about myself during it, whatsoever. Just wish I didn’t let myself be kicked around and put all the blame on myself when we ended. Maybe I’ll run into him someday, who knows.

True. We are both comedians so he definitely knows I’m unhappy with how he treated me because of my satire writing lol. So I guess that’s good

All good points. I walked away from a scrub who treated me like shit. He knew I was upset over his actions but I did not let him have it or stick up for myself at all. Now I am considering wanting to reach out again lol. Luckily I don’t have his number. My therapist has told me tho semi recently that reaching out wouldn’t be bad for the scenario. I just feel it’s been too long, 6 months now out.

Yeah that is true. It's not black and white. If someone feels that it's best for them to reach out, for instance in a scenario like mine where as you said it perfectly they are "taking every kick lying down", then that's what is best for them. A part of me wishes that I did because I had no self-respect in that relationship at all, which I now have, and it's humiliating for me to think about how I treated myself and let myself be treated. But at the same time, I'm glad I didn't because it would …

True. It was kinda like I let him sneak out the backdoor for all of the shit he did, and I apologized for being "toxic". That annoyed me. But I'm glad that I didn't reach out.

I'm so glad that I didn't text my last ex about how he "hurt me". He knew. I wanted to text him on and off for months to tell him off because I let the relationship end on "I was the toxic one, this is my fault" as a result of my low self-esteem and his gaslighting, and that bothered me. But he doesn't need to know how I feel. And I'm so glad that he doesn't. It's none of his goddamn business.

I feel that. My mutual friend said “____ wishes you well btw” and I said “I don’t wish him well, he treated me like garbage and I don’t feel bad about saying that”. We shouldn’t be expected to wish people well who treated us badly.

Thank you! I never thought of anger as a tool. I’m working with a therapist on chronic shame so I’ll keep moving in that direction :)

Thank you :) I think maybe I should write angry letters to get it out in a vulnerable way. Sometimes expressing through comedy doesn’t actually resolve the issue since comedy is so ego feeding, if that makes sense. It’s vulnerable but I feel less so than memoir or diary writing (in my experience).

Omg that’s a nightmare of mine! That helps that it’s just as much my experience as it is theirs. And thanks for the kind words! DM me whenever! The campaign made me and that ex’s ex friends haha

Very true. I might just have to keep going through the process. I have OCD so it may be partially why I hold onto things for so long and ruminate. And it’s frustrating and draining that I hold onto things for years, but that’s trauma for ya

Thanks! Some men have heard me talk about them on podcasts and have seen satirical articles inspired by them and hated me for it. Gives me a sense of both pride and shame that I’m having trouble shaking.

That’s eye opening. I’m wondering if maybe my anger is misdirected self blame

Thanks! I held myself responsible for not setting boundaries and knowing my worth, but maybe I’m missing the point of it all and that’s why I’m having issues with moving forward, and it’s misdirected anger at myself

A guy dangled the words “I love you” in front of me constantly, reluctantly told me he loved me during a fight about his behavior then took it back, and when I was upset and wanted to break up because we were six months in, he said: “you’re only upset because your ex’s hurt you and it’s not my responsibility” and would not apologize, and said “I’m telling you the same story” about his side of it when he was not, and said it was my fault he took it back because I had a breakdown one day. Also no …

While I definitely agree for the most part, my ex and close friend has aspergers and severe social anxiety, so he is the only acception out of the men I’ve met who this doesn’t apply to. But yes, I generally agree, though I think anxiety/fear/mental health needs to be taken into account for some.

This is hard for me because I feel like my ex walked away after gas lighting me and being an overall terrible boyfriend and I didn't tell him because a lot of the shit he did, I didn't realize until after we broke up (thanks to therapist). It's been 3 months now and I'm still mad and trying to move past it without saying anything.

What if you were exclusive with him? Jw how other people are, bc my last relationship he'd not respond to my last text/wouldn't text me to apologize or reach out as if he didn't ignore me for 2-4 days. Never putting up with it again but I love to hear from others that it's not acceptable behavior/how they deal with it.

You're right. I finally feel clear headed for the first time in years though... like I finally feel like I love myself and learned that when someone doesn't love you it's about them not you which is huge for me. But I am all over the place in just not flat out ending it. I guess it's because he tries to say we're on different timelines and stuff and it makes me question if I'm crazy.
