Ultimately that's what I'm advocating. Always up early, and not pushing through evening exhaustion into that second wind. I've found powering through evening tiredness somehow keeps me tired and makes it hard to fall asleep later versus if I had gone to bed when I was initially feeling sleepy.

I've found that early bed doesn't mess me up the way sleeping in does. I also have the ability to blackout my room if I need. I'm not saying to do it regularly, but for me it helps during those times where I might otherwise lie awake getting progressively tired before eventually passing out at 6am just before work.
