Frankly, it sounds like you've done almost nothing to try to improve things naturally first. If you write your 'work-out' as the number of curls and sit ups you do, then you don't work out. You need to life big heavy weights in compound movements. How much do you bench/squat/deadlift? These will grow your big muscles and make you lose fat. Look up HIIT for aerobic fat loss. 20 minutes on a treadmill is not an ideal way to burn fat. I agree that BMI is a silly number for bodybuilders and men in t…

Fair enough on the fake tits. The stomach stuff can't be fixed with exercise though. It's loose, damaged skin from child birth.

I would guess there must be quite a few people in this situation. I know a few friends also thinking about it and are in similar SMV situations to mine. Good luck to you, let me know if you got through with it. How did it end up with your sister/bro-in-law?

Good thoughts, thanks. We seem solid, but we are fairly equal SMV at the moment. It may make more sense to max out my SMV as much as possible first to avoid any potential problems from a sudden jump in hers.

As to your other thoughts - thank you. Everything else is fairly good as this point. Work, sex, lifting are all great. Leadership is improving slowly - took charge of finances recently and it went really well, but still have a little work to do here. My concern is as you mentioned, it's a little hard to keep pace of a sudden upgrade like that. Could definitely work on wardrobe a bit for a nice increase at this point though.

Financial issues are fairly fixed now. Her job situation is also good now. We spent a fair amount of time on budgeting and got to a much better place in a short amount of time. It was one of those things where we made way more than we needed but somehow spent all of it - a few months of not spending so much on excesses already turned a lot around. We are fairly well off, yes we have some debt, but this surgery wouldn't be a huge expense in the grand scheme of things.

Nice reply, but I went full dread last year. We were at the cliff but didn't fall off. Threats like that probably would set a bad tone for our trust especially given where we've come from a year ago. It took a lot for us to finally get 'secure' with each other (knowing we are now both fully committed). I think a statement like this will really make her question that and think divorce is seriously back on the table now and I don't want it to be.

Unfortunately a huge chunk goes to pay off debt we had to take on when our incomes weren't so good. Huge student loans, etc. Also, kids are really expensive and so is California. 1 kid in full time child care, one kid in half time. She will admit she should work, but she isn't happy about it and it puts a strain on our marriage. It's like a work-dread game to her. As soon as she doesn't like something she can threaten to quit - similar to a wife threatening divorce I suppose.

As some have mentioned, just tell him you are going to do deadlifts / squats and you'd like him to check your form because you don't want to get injured doing them. Alternatively, find a guy in the gym that looks like he knows what he's doing in the squat rack. The guys who really know proper technique should stand out to you - their movements are controlled and stable and they'll obviously be in reasonably good shape. This is not necessarily the biggest guy (I've actually found that smaller guy…
