About my Dad, yes he's kind of vulgar. I responded by saying 'I'm not going to answer that' very firmly. I have told him several times that I don't appreciate the words that he uses when he speaks with me, but he lacks a filter. I guess I could sit him down and talk to him about it, but I doubt he'll change. That's a whole other issue I guess.

I do like the captain/first mate dynamic, but I do not want an alpha. I want a nice guy with a good head on his shoulders who I can defer to to create a smooth partnership. Somehow I always end up embarrassed in relationships, so I honestly do not know whether or not it's normal. Thanks for answering that.

I do think the problem is me, but at the same time I can't stop that feeling of second hand embarrassment. I know I put a lot of stock into what other people think, but I can't just unsee their reactions. My question was how normal is this? How much should I ignore it and be grateful for what I have? There are no perfect relationships right? edit: I guess, to put it in RP terms- I'm attracted to beta guys, but they embarrass me around others. I want a beta who knows how to put on an alpha face. …

Actually..yeah that would make a lot of sense. I wish this didn't bother me :(

I do think I'm better than him at social things, but he's better than me at so many other things. He's closer with his family, has a more positive outlook on life (I'm working on having more positive thoughts), is a harder worker, smarter, made better grades, and he makes more than me at work. That's a really good point about the sexual fulfillment though, maybe that is the root of the problem. I think that can be fixed.

I was in the beginning, but the sex does leave a lot to be desired. He gets tired easily and doesn't really want it that much.

I hate to nitpick him, but here are a few examples. For quirks, his laugh is very awkward. It's loud and high pitched and I know it makes other people uncomfortable. It sounds like a woman loudly gasping for breath. His body language and movements are very stiff and guarded, rather than fluid and open. He doesn't have much of a sense of humor and has a hard time carrying a conversation with strangers or making small talk. He's started dressing a lot better since I've taken him shopping and taugh…

I can't seem to get close to any other type. I've gone on dates with more outgoing guys, but I don't have much in common with them and most of the things they talk about bore me. The last one I went out with I nearly dated, but his conversations were mostly about sports, his major (criminal justice), and his family. With my current guy we can talk for hours about anything, he just doesn't know how to hold his own in a group or around other guys.

I like the advice in this sub a lot, but since I've started following it my boyfriend has complained that he's more feminist than me and that I was raised too traditionally. That being said, he has no idea how many times I've bit my tongue when in the past I would have nagged or corrected him, thanks to the advice here.

I've had several female friends harass me for counting calories in the past... most of them are now overweight. I'm 5'3 and I also aim for 1,200 a day, in fact I'm pretty sure I gain weight at just 1,400 a day.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
