Omg, I thought I was the only person who stuck around for three years after it was over. What a relief, I was hating for not making a decision earlier and thought I must’ve been the only idiot who tried for years to revive something that was dead. Not my post, but this made me feel much better about my situation. 🙏

Does this mean you’re committed to 10 years only?

Wow, thanks for sharing your story, even after 40 years there is a sense of no connection; I would’ve thought after that time together it doesn’t really matter who you are with, but glad to hear that someone still cares. 👍 hope all goes well for you.

My man, how long have you been in separate bedrooms? I feel your pain, also dead bedroom, but not to that extent. Sorry I can’t offer any guidance but I’d incline toward dating than not.

Date of separation is when you file or finalize all the paperwork?

Friend, you need to face the reality. Sad, but start caring about yourself, just a bit. Respect yourself, please. There is no such thing as starting therapy and she’s already seeing someone else. I’m sorry man.

So true. The nature comes out. The “I’ll be different” without you stage. 👎

Most of us here don’t necessarily support women and their attitude in life toward men, but dang, meat slayer, you win the prize. 👍🙂

Can someone clarify. What did you get generous with and how did it come back to bite you?

There is no right age for this; kids can be any age and you never know he they will react. Ease them into it. Talk through it either way the kids, whatever their ages. It will be alright. 👍

What state is this that pushes for lifetime alimony after 7 years of marriage?

What’s the reason for PO, it should state a specific issue from the past. Hope you get past this. You’re not alone. I deal with this bs too.

Plain and simple. No one is going to pay you back. I got my wife situated in a new place, paid tons of money to setup TVs, furniture, etc. am I ever going to recover that - never. No one will even remember that I dropped ton of resources and money into her new dwelling; already after we were seeking separation and eventual divorce.

That’s the truth. Men don’t value themselves as they should. I’m at fault here as well.

Such a gut wrenching story, I wish people were more sentimental. You’re good person, too bad it didn’t work out. It sounds like it could’ve worked. As I always tell my STBXW, we were always five minutes apart, may we be synched up and those five minutes did not exist, we would’ve had such a great marriage. As much as I dislike women, I truly hope she finds her peace, and if you feel like you need to help her, you should; there will be a special place for you up there for doing so. Thanks for sha…

Solid advice. Thank you. I am all about the kids, during the marriage I was fully vested and now when all of this is ending, I feel like I have to be even more vested to prove them that this isn’t about them, they didn’t loose here. Thanks for the perspective, finances mean less to me, I made my share with her, I’ll do the same without her. 👍

I envy you, friend; thanks for the thorough explanation. Mind you asking another question? I’ll be aiming for 50/50 as well. What’s a realistic approach to get that? Does it matter than I live in a different town roughly half hour away? Kids go to school in her town. I love half hour away closer to work, but willing to move closer, if need be; we have two separate houses. Thx 🙏

There is no love or emotions, it doesn’t matter if you would’ve tried earlier. It’s all in the past.

There is always light at the end of the tunnel. Brace through all the turmoil, you will come out of this with an experience, you will draw positive energy from all of this. All negativity will diminish and you will come out stronger and better version of yourself. Meanwhile, let me assure you, you’re not alone, many of us are in the same boat. Our stories may differ, but we’re all facing similar challenges, issues that we will resolve one way or another. Changes are coming your way, you will rid…

What happens to the kids?! Any sane woman first thinks of the kids, if she’s leaving the kids with you, (1) her mind is not in the right place, (2) this is a practice run and she’s testing the waters, (3) if all goes well with her “thinking” she’s coming back to blow up in your face. But at least you see the signs.

You’re in a tough place, but one responsibility you have is to get out of the bed every morning and function well for yourself and your kids. There is no other way. Don’t worry about finding love, if anything, it comes naturally, but don’t make that a priority. Don’t show weakness in front of the children, don’t be afraid to look into the future. I’m sure you’ve done what you could to rekindle, if that does not work, you are still there for your children, and do your best. As long as you try, th…
