I guess I'll buckle and just go alpha at my next opportunity. I think that's the whole lesson from the Tiger mistress deal too. "aha! we got you. even tiger succumbs to his manly instincts in the end"

Do you think men need to enter acting school, along with the basics of learning to read and write? Because I assume a trained actor would know that they are giving off a certain message when holding a phone as he did.

There was something strangely beautiful about that video. But I think the message won't get very far because it takes a life time of non-hetero thought to conceive of let alone properly convey what was said.

She's inciting a lot of hatred. But there is no doubt she has convinced herself that she is doing a good thing. It's hardly ever a good idea to have strongly held strong opinions and I think that's part of the problem here.

So it takes a team of women to convince themselves to come up with a plan. And the guy was a useless, guilty and cheating loser. That's just great.

I think now that women have been liberated and have strong minds and will, it's imperative that men support them even more for the coming changes and advances in society. Specifically I think this means harnessing the technological revolution but I'm not sure this can strictly be done with management techniques, which seem to be flawed. This puzzle is quite troubling and I hope we come to grips with it soon.

A cursory look over that huge pdf that was linked too didn't compel me to devote any further study. The one thing I got out of it was the idea that people might hold the view regarding being needy and not being in touch with your feelings or something. That was kind of interesting to be aware of.

Part of it is that communities really don't want to bring shame upon themselves. So whenever possible these things are hidden or diverged to be something else, to be perceived as rather harmless.

"If a tree falls in the forest.." Likewise, is it really necessary to vocalize an internal truth? The guy could have just kept it to himself. Instead, he stooped to her level.

So what would be a reasonable monthly payment plan? It might not be much but consider it like receiving a dividend payment from holding a stock.

Shouldn't we collect the people that are offended and offer them some protection in the form of a diagnosis or mental condition evaluation? At least during a democratic administration it makes sense to "turn on" that societal feature.

Does the "was us" part refer to some kind of millennial generation, all encompassing communal hive-mind of sorts?

If you're out and about with your child and your spouse isn't around, there is even more the reason to be vigilante and over protective. Not to downplay the loss of a child or anything but if god forbid something happened the emotional outrage of the spouse and all the repercussions that stem from that can be really severe.

The other day a woman actually apologized to me after she noticed I had to step away from the door, as we both approached it at nearly the same time from opposite sides. So you might be right, awareness is increasing.

Another way to think about this is from the view of Ladder Theory. As you permit yourself to be thrown onto one or more of a woman's friendship ladders the opportunity presents itself to become a skilled listener of people places and things, usually with an emphasis on people. It's a useful skill to have but not something I would want to pursue to the limit or reach into some upper echelon. There is nothing productive about that at all.

I think of reddit as a societal revelation engine. It doesn't matter what happens, up vote or down, so long as it leaves an ever more accurate trace of reality in its wake.

You know it's also possible that someone will be accused of making a false rape claim, but in reality a rape really did happen. In that case the real perpetrator gets off and the victim is doubly hurt. But I would imagine this would be a very small minority, at least an order of magnitude smaller than regular innocent people that are falsely accused. That group too is smaller than genuine cases of rape but still significant enough that it's a shame they are so easily ignored.

It's somewhat of an uphill battle, and I don't think men can do it alone. From what I can gather women have a "no snitch" rule when it comes to reporting on or raising their voices about such issues, like the last example of the psycho woman. Put simply, if you snitch you become an outcast to the much valued local community. It will raise the question "whose side are you on anyway?"

The analogy I would use here is a guard rail protecting the edge of a road. You want to pretty much stay clear of it and thus be conscious of details like whether you are on the phone, have a beverage in the car, or have an unruly passenger. Unless your mind is on where you're going then you'll suffer exponentially worse consequences.

So it's wrong but it's justified, because ... ? The best I can gather is that it's seemingly justified because of 1) what Tiger did was so bad that had he been more normal he wouldn't have evoked the much deserved emotion in the wife, and 2) guys are generally useless anyway and have had too much power over the years so this is small form of karma / payback.

Compensated for a false rape accusation, how? When the next big lotto comes up the state will give the male victim a complimentary 90% chance of winning? It would be bittersweet but it might work.

Essentialism is the most brain dead concept I have come across today, but it doesn't surprise me that this vestige from the past is still adhered to. If your world (environment) is filled with dialog of shoes, boots and clothing with a hint of astrology and numerology, then your behavior will be shaped that way into a rut. Contrast that with a forward looking scientific or astronomical view and you start to see into the future. In my experience you can't really have it both ways.

I don't really follow the quote. It reminds me of Arnold Schwarzenegger who advocated being your own art director and sculptor as you rework (or express) your body. It seems like a pretty healthy attitude to me, so long as you can avoid busting a heart valve.

Honest question: when women talk about how feminism was supposed to bring about a more manly man, but the exact opposite has taken place, is it the above list of virtues that they have in mind? I don't know what set of qualities or traits they consider when saying that, but I wouldn't have thought the ones above would match it.

Yes, the male bonding concept. It can be infectious because there is this sense of being able to shape the future. Women are set to control much of corporate life and society, and sometimes I wonder what they have in store for us. I know that's a bad attitude. But having an activity partner seems really beneficial and perhaps can set the stage for building a dam of sorts or fortification, against ill will.

A foundation could be formed to advocate for male underwear to come with slots pre-filled with a pair of condoms. The second one is for redundancy to make sure there is always one at the ready.

I think this comes down to a more central world view of using other people as pawns. If your mind is already calibrated that way, it's easy to pull it off without thinking about it.

It's the whole being able to indict a ham sandwich thing. Maybe the judge should have shown better judgment and tossed it out, or better yet penalized her financially to collect some additional funds for the courts.

School is a melting pot of viewpoints. A pressure cooker of sorts too. I think girls are shielded to a large extent and thus are able to excel more easily, but there is room for everyone to have a more self-directed education. In other words, if guys are losing interest in schooling (and this can be seen across the board at the higher levels, for both genders, in fields such as computer science) it isn't necessarily a bad thing. All it shows is time is better spent elsewhere.

This might sound cruel but maybe a new generation of children should be raised by a third party, like the government. Then the parents can have visitation rights or some such. The key thing would be to have a variety of mentors that would rotate through so that it wouldn't be like conventional schooling, but more self-driven by the student. A kind of master and apprentice relationship.

It definitely points to the wife creating the conditions, or the vacuum. I think that years from now when much of the equality movement blows over, there will be a time for women to look back and reveal something about the way they felt during that period, to seemingly explain it all away.

Sounds like a boat anchor to me. That shared account is a gateway to assisting with the financial situation. Figure out the ratio of your salary compared to hers (even if it is one of those part time jobs she doesn't like) and then you each pay a portion of the shared expenses based on it. Until she reaches your salary level you'll be paying the greater portion, but there is value in her at least contributing something. The other thing is you have an opportunity here to help her get out of debt.…

What meta materials are on the horizon for a modern burka? Video gamers could use this because at a moments notice they can drop their garment around a screen, to join a LAN party. If enough gamers do this it'll be hard to separate the wheat from the chaff, and so women will have to lose their burkas to liberate themselves.

What kind of changes are we looking for though, and would be satisfied with? I feel like the going mentality is that women deserve some time to "cash in" to so speak with their new found power.

Maybe what prevented peace in the past was that different regions had poor communication and beliefs. It might make sense to use force to get Internet and food everywhere, to reach a steady state where the world can unite.

This is kind of like the people that go to various establishments to check if they are wheel chair friendly. They make money from all the lawsuits they bring but also the establishments get upgraded to help the few that need it.

Perhaps MensRights is considered an umbrella term to also include Gay rights. I don't think it should be though. One thing that's often forgotten is that all the books and ideas out there are just an attempt at what has been learned from previous generations. These materials are still put together by every day people that are just trying to figure things out; it isn't drawn from some core of humanity of what is or should be.

Why is it that we have to bundle up and put aside this set of womens traits? It seems almost impervious to logic. Sam Harris writes about how we shouldn't put up with Religion (crudely stated), and maybe that's all the female modality is -- a restatement of religion.

I think the concept of Equality is a misnomer. For example, the Obama administration can be considered a series of compromises where everyone needs to suffer a little bit, at least for a while. MensRights is about halting and hopefully reversing a certain kind of erosion that has taken place. Sometimes you can promote one thing or another, and lots of people can be neutral to it. Or you can push something excessively in one extreme and still people won't care, or if they were negative to it befo…

You know it's legal to wear a personal computer (for example, an Asus EEE PC in a backpack) with a stealth camera. It simply acts as a video recorder, and when you get home you can dump the footage to a long term storage repository. It may sound extreme but I think it's important to protect ourselves, first, and also there are some other usability features (benefits) from the technology that can be rolled in later. Sure this is just partial protection from rape accusations but eventually if the …

Summary: Men are emotional criminals. I've become aware of this through reddit lately, and it was surprising at first. But having understood this new reality I'm just learning to take it in stride.

Careful there. It's the neutral appearing ones that generally have the greatest sense of degree for the range of emotion, among other things. The main problem is that they are too caught up with displacing the "boys club" in business, rather than striking some balance or veering off in a new direction. If there is a bubble in corporate america, or higher education, it will likely burst with women.

I liked the list at the bottom of indigochild.com better, which spreads a wider net. The list of qualities make sense, if you want change. It suggests that people who go along with a given system are already satisfied with the max outcome available to them under said system.

In short, many today acknowledge that there is a crisis of the disappearing educated male. If you're an autodidact maybe it's time to remove yourself from the educated pool. Computer Science enrollments are down first, followed by all the other areas of study.

I think the common perception for many of these MensRights issues, is that there is an undercurrent being dug up from the mud. So it isn't a major issue, just something contrived. At least that was the perception or explanation I got from the female side, at #askreddit
