Unless your ambition is to care and nurture and promote peace. Did Ghandi have less ambition than Joan of Arc? And then there's the question of what makes ambition a superior trait in your mind in the first place? Do some ambitions, the ones you personally aspire to perhaps, rate as more superior than others in your mind? What makes controlling nature via progress and technology superior to toughening up and adapting to nature?

Interesting you position women's comparative lack of violence and warmongering as an inferior trait...

They don't claim to be open. Their purpose is to be an alternative subspace within a wider unavoidably male-dominated space. Why would you criticise that when trp is basically a "safe space" for extreme antifeminists in a world that is growing to accept many feminist values?

I disagree. Relationships are as varied as people and there are no universal rules for how they work. I know lots of people including myself who've gone out with close friends. In some cases there was a spark between them all along but for me it took me by surprise as I became closer friends over time with someone who started as an aquaintance. I've had some guy friends who stayed just friends with whom there was a bit of mutual or one-sided attraction and I generally ended up distancing myself …

No I'm not. I have seen it right in front of me. Number one on the subreddit last time I looked was a post about how women supposedly "love to be degraded and dominated by 'high-status' men"... and then some guy belittling women who wrote on some forum, analysing them in such a way as to justify abusing women. Unless she explicitly tells you she likes being degraded and forcefully dominated, to treat her that way is the definition of emotional and sexual abuse. Half this subreddit is about all t…

The male-supremicist bullshit that encourages the oppression and abuse of women that's rife in the pickup community as a whole (even if it's refreshingly absent from Mark Manson's writing and other subsets of the PUA community), especially on theredpill... and I'm not complaining so much as explaining what it might be that women find shameful and disgusting about PUA - hint: it is not the logical approach to flirting and social skills!

Funny you should mention that, I'm a big fan of Mark Manson's writing! From what I've read of his blog it does seem his style of pick up artistry is true to my values.

K whatevs, I have no respect for any of that bullshit and I think guys who engage in it should be ashamed of themselves... I shudder knowing some of these tricks have been played on me in the past, luckily I was too scared and awkward back then (age 18-21) to get intimate with a guy I hadn't gotten to know as a friend first.

No need for complete and total full life story honesty, but you should be honest, or at least not deceptive in your intentions. That means don't "neg" someone who you actually think is beautiful and lovely, don't pretend to be caring and dreamy when all you want is a hard lazy fuck with minimal foreplay. And your idea of a "Beta loser" might be an interesting and intelligent but shy or naturally more submissive than average man who's quite content with the way he is, he might even have a partner…

They are doing that and I have no problem whatsoever with it, so long as they do so with values of mutual respect and honesty, and do not base their theories on sexist pseudoscience. And while it's great to work towards being the best, most genuinely happy and confident version of yourself, sorry but I can't respect someone who is trying to be someone he/she is not. There is a fine line. I wish everyone the best of luck in finding lots and lots of hot sex, a longterm partner who treats them righ…

Some of what they teach may well align with my values. But that does not change the fact that much of what is preached in this forum goes complelely against the values of anyone who wants a genuine, mutually beneficial relationship and longterm happiness. You are denying the existence of a set of attitudes and theories running rampant in this forum - what I am actually criticising.

They are doing that, and I don't see anything wrong with that per se... Where it becomes a problem and potentially detrimental to both the man and his partner/s is when it gets into the nasty sexist (towards both men and women) pseudoscientific theories behind masculinity and feminity - and reading deep hidden meanings into what women want from a one-off casual flirting encounter, extrapolating her responses to flirting into her entire inner life, character and motives. It's also pretty shameful…

No, it's selling yourselves to a niche market, while kidding yourself that you're doing mass marketing. Niche marketing is always easier than mass marketing (mass marketers in the dating game would be sportstars, actors, supermodels, etc and no amount of lifting is going to turn you into one of them). You are working hard to hone in on and manipulate a very particular type of woman by using behaviours that characterise a very particular type of man... based on external stereotypes of what it mea…

Yep, I completely agree that working on yourself and learning more effective social and flirting behaviours in a logical strategic way is not shameful in the slightest, and if that's what "game" is, then I've done it myself and I'm proud of where I am today! :-) ...but then I "learned" today that using these methods is a supposedly masculine trait - despite having been led to believe by experts in psychology that it's the socially awkward women, not men (or Aspergers/mildly autistic women) who a…

I'm a woman for whom social and flirting skills do not come naturally, yet over time I have learned them logically and rationally and these days live a vibrant life with as many friends as I need and plenty of success attracting and interacting with attractive, kind and intelligent men. TIL my rational and logical way of picking up social skills is a masculine trait rather than a substitute for the intuitive social skills that most men and women grow up with without realising... goodness me how …

We do shame business people who do shonky deals, the ones who manipulate people into paying good money for a crap product. If sex, love and dating is a "game" and the players are in a competion to market and sell themselves best as "sexual/romantic products", then a man who manipulates a woman into giving him what he wants through clever salesmanship whilst disrespecting her individual personhood (knowing full well she wants a "product"/man who values and respects her rather than sees her as a f…

A fat guy trying to lose weight is not trying to manipulate other people for his own selfish desires. He might be doing it for his own health and freedom of movement rather than just to fit into society's stereotype of what masculine means. Want to kearn how to interact with women? Learn some basic social skills and flirting skills, work on your confidence and self-esteem.. but ditch the stereotypical "men are from Mars, women are from Venus" crap and start treating every woman (and man for that…
