You excerpted the statement previous to that; "In certain situations,". It's easy to be disingenuous and angry. It's harder to be honest and represent truthfully.

So, I think a little compassion is in order here. I'm fully 100% behind the MRM, and it irritates me to no end when single moms do this bullshit. But there's a balancing act here that we as children of single mothers have to go through. In certain situations, these single mothers have been dealt the shit hand, and so it's comforting for them to play the victim card and act out like this. I understand that nowhere near all single mothers were given a shit situation, but some of them were, even if…

I haven't been single in a few years now. However, the hardest part wasn't the potty training, or teaching them correct behavior, or worrying about injuries. It wasn't the fucked up schedule, trying to juggle work, classes, daycare, and activities. The money situation was extremely tight, but not unmanageable. Even though there were very few resources to go around, we always had each other to play with at the park, so screw the fancy bikes and gliders the other kids had. We didn't get to very ma…

My ex lives in Iowa. My children and I live in a relatively progressive state. Luckily enough for me, my ex took off by herself in the split, and my state agreed that the kids are established with me, so they awarded me primary physical custody. I am so sorry to hear of your lost time with your daughter. I couldn't imagine not being with my kids. I wish all the best for you. I hope you are able to successfully sure for custody after this bullshit. I have a little bit of experience with the delig…

I am so god damned tired of hearing bullshit about leftists fucking it up for men. Right-wing nutjobs have their part to play in all of this bullshit as well. This is why the state my ex lives in (clearly right-wing) has decided that her contribution to my kids upbringing is $20 a month, regardless of the median income job she had before she moved. Stop with this stupid fucking game. I am solidly left, and that will never change, but that doesn't mean I support dumbasses like Hillary, so lay the…

I was listening to this interview yesterday when getting lunch. I loved how he very deliberately described how Boko Haram is slitting the throats of the boys they find, and she just went directly back to her spiel about how it's really about the girls being kidnapped. I especially loved his chuckle after she said that. He even flat out told her that it isn't about sexism, it's just how completely stupid these people are.

Maybe I'm tilting at windmills here, but it seems like there's something nefarious with Kerri Kasems motives for contacting her father now. I don't know anything about that relationship, so maybe I'm way off though.

Wil Wheaton has always been a self hating misandrist. I've never liked him. And his narration is atrocious. Listen to "Ready Player One" if you don't believe me. The dude is a joke. Thank you for calling him out in public. He has no excuse.

I find it humorous that most of the shaming on the comic on the right is generally things I've heard coming from women's own mouths. My guy friends and I (anecdotal, I know) have never said anything from any of those panels (at least in my presence). It must be the patriarchal influence on those poor helpless women making them say such horrible things about other women :( I am a sad panda.

If she feels so bad about being spiteful and hateful, she should start paying him back for the money she made him waste. He will never get back those years full of stress, but she could at least replace the money he burned through because of her. I get the nagging suspicion that there's an ulterior motive to her confession, as well. Someone who thinks that it's alright to try to ruin the relationship between a father and his child(ren) doesn't all of a sudden have a change of heart about doing i…

As long as we keep the whole movement based on issues and policies, we will be able to avoid ideological fanaticism. In my opinion, that's the best and most effective way to mitigate any possibility of become an ideological nightmare.

My gf has two kids, as do I, which I have sole physical custody of. I think in out case, we both have to deal with both sides of the issue; me parenting her kids, and her parenting mine. Unless one of is were to act unfairly towards either our own, or the others children, I don't think we'll have a problem. She's seen how I parent my kids, and I've seen how she parents hers. I think if she didn't agree, she'd have taken off a long time ago.

Wow. The author was ridiculously dismissive. It's trite at this point, but the bullying tactics they use are ridiculous. As though recognizing men's issues somehow detracts from women's rights. Aren't they the ones who told us for years that it isn't a zero sum problem? That it's possible for women to rise out if the shadows without threatening masculinity and men's place in the world? Sheesh. Talk about projecting a victim mentality.

It just occurred to me how people would react if there were incentive scholarships for men wanting to go into certain fields. Fields such as elementary and middle school education, early child care, nursing, dental assisting, etc. I think, given nonsense like "stranger danger" and the Tender Years Doctrine, people would react negatively if there were scholarships for men. Other than the already existing idea that men shouldn't be around children.

My ex-wife walked out on me and my kids just over a year ago. She made sure to commit adultery before that, though. For some reason, she had no problem leaving, but then expected that I would just cart the children off to her moms house to live after a year. I'm lucky enough that I live in a state that is actually fairly liberal, instead of paying equality lip service, the legal system generally does. The judge (a woman) agreed with our mediation that I should have custody, and my ex would get t…

Honey rather than vinegar. Not that it matters, but if I were a feminist ideologue, I would take immediate umbrage to your tone (we all know how apeshit they go about shit like that). I'm not trying to tone police, but you're on the attack and sound like an ideologue yourself. Also, leftists? Dude, what the fuck ever. Political pejoratives will get you nowhere. And you will continue to sound like you're pushing an agenda instead of issues.

As MakhSC said, everything on Breitbart is appalling. I don't consider myself a Bronie. However, my daughter loves the show, and it's hard for me to stay away from the tv whenever she's watching it. It is a great show, and I haven't found myself captivated by a children's show since the Animaniacs. Kurt is a macho, dipshit idiot. However, considering her age, and the fact that she sacrificed her career to care for their kids, she should be awarded some of their property. Whether that amounts to cash, or property, I get it. This is the most important thing you can read before you talk to a lawyer. And then talk to a lawyer. And then talk to every single lawyer in a 25 mile radius so that she can't talk to them because of a conflict of interest. And then file for a custody arrangement and get her ass out of your house. I was worried that my ex may take my kids while we were going through our divorce. Because of the UCCJEA, I didn't need to be. I really like this idea. Can you write a blog post about it, saaayyyyy around 1,500 words? If you could give a short primer in Intersectionality, follow it with mens status inside the theory, and then explain how those two ideas mesh with the MHRM, I think that would go a long way to contribute to this subreddit.

SarcastiCock is right, they never were your friends. They were just using you because they don't see men as people, they saw you as a tool, a useful means to an end. I'm sorry, my friend, but you may as well get used to it. It's all a part of sexual politics in our world today. Good luck to you!

I hate to be that guy, but what's the problem? The daughter is of the age of majority, and a ward of the state. Other than her mother being a shitheel (which, having two young kids, there have been times when I'm frustrated to the point of tears), there is nothing wrong here. So, this really just looks like another "women behaving badly" post, which, while I do enjoy, does nothing to further MR, or the MRM.

Your introduction of anecdotal "evidence" isn't factual evidence. Some numbers to back your case up would be appreciated. I actually agree with you that the number is more than a few, but without hard evidence, you're not making a case at all.

False. I receive a stipend while I am attending school full time through my GI bill. While it is money that COMES IN, it is considered by the government as non-taxable, therefore it is illegal to consider it INCOME for the purposes of collection by any agency, private or public. Please post this over there. This is the kind of thing that needs to be pointed out to get these people to question their beliefs. Most of these people only look at it as "endsX is good, so that must mean that meansX is also good", instead of reasoning with themselves and asking why meansX is also good. Easier way to look at it: endsX=good, therefore meansX=good, when in reality, meansX!=endsX.

I haven't read your article yet, so I'm not commenting on that. I see you've fallen into the common academic trap that Wikipedia is not a credible source. Considering the fact that it is peer-reviewed automatically means that it is a credible source. So, first I went running here. And then I ran here. So the generally accepted definition of feminism is not the "true" definition of feminism, according to you. I'm not commenting to argue with you, but I think it's important that you keep the concept of logical fallacies in mind when deciding that your definition of a sociological concept is the only correct one. I am personally a social libertarian, but even though I agree with him on most things, we disagree on the role of government in social safeties and civil liberties. Anyway, I'm not entirely sure why he asked me that. It seemed way out of line, but then again, he also asked me why I thought abortion was ok. He is a bit goofy.

I couldn't agree more. One of my biggest turn offs about republicans/conservatives/GOP is their adherence to traditionalism and religious fundamentalism. I hate it. I had a libertarian friend (he normally votes republican because that's where Paul sits most of the time, as well as identifying with most conservative concepts in the GOP) ask me why I'm so scared of a theocracy. I love you guys in r/MR, but this comment can't be repeated enough in this thread. They aren't just arbitrarily making men wear pregnancy bellies and breasts, they're doing it so they have some idea of what it's like to do PT while pregnant. They are NCOs in charge of pregnancy PT, after all. This is coming from a combat veteran with 6 years in the Army. I've also seen the assholes who get pregnant to avoid deployment, as well as the assholes who get pregnant while ON deployment.

Exactly, jackass, it's not black and white. Which is why saying that liberals (like myself) don't care about men (like myself) is wrong. It's not impossible to believe in social programs but dislike people who cheat the system. Not only that, but you can't make a blanket statement about a group of people and then get upset when someone lumps you into the opposite group. Don't be a douche.

That's the funny thing; if his name is on the birth certificate, then according to the state, he is the father, biologically or not. Even if patriarchy existed under the feminist definition of it, any sense of patriarchy is gone in the Western world, so the point is moot. Yes, it is a horrible situation to deal with, but one that needs to be considered. As powerpiglet said, surrogacy is always an option for that last 1/4 who have no legal say in the matter (men who want a child, but their partner chooses abortion/adoption), but that's a potential legal trap. I am also uncomfortable with one party legally having all decision making capabilities when it comes to reproduction, but unfortunately, that's the way it is right now.
/r/MensRights16/08/11 10:54 PM

Yes, that's a fair point you make. However, let me raise the idea that the surrogate still has the legal power to wrest the child from the man who hired her to act in surrogate in the first place. I personally would have considered this before I got married, if it weren't for the state backing up the surrogate even in the face of a legal contract. Again, it's all about what's in the "child's best interest", which is both a fallacy because the state doesn't actually have any intelligent idea what…

I'm really sorry, but I take exception to the precepts you've outlined in this comment. I really don't mean to be argumentative or combative, but considering the technology we have these days, it is unreasonable to assume that sex will lead to insemination. There are ways to statistically stack the deck to defy successful, natural insemination. What I mean is, if a couple use multiple types of birth control in conjunction, it is very easy to proof against pregnancy. Therefore, the concept that c…

Well, this is what happens when the state supports a child when the single parent can't afford to support the child in full. However, since both men and women contribute to taxes, it can't be said that it is a direct allocation of resources from men to women/children. I guess to amend the original idea, it could be said that we are already assigning a random stranger, or group of strangers would be more accurate, to support the child. I'm ok with this concept, since I pay taxes (or, I did up unt…

Is this in the singular form? I think if it turns out to be a bullshit sub, trying to subvert the MRM, then it won't just be me, my friend.

That would be nice, considering you're staking your entire reputation on the claims that even one person involved with /AMR is involved with /masculism, but will not adversely affect /masculism. The whole thing stinks to high heaven considering the bullshit that floats around /feminism, /feminisms, /AMR, NSWATM and manboobz. You really can't fault any of us at /MR from being suspicious. An update ASAP would be appreciated.

I apologize, I was only aware through the sources that were listed in the original post, the /communityplans sub, as well as the more knowledgeable people in the OP. I also need to apologize to kloo, I didn't realize that he linked to the PE/DF debate in his/her comments in the OP. Anyway, it's worth it to remember where we're at at this point in the good fight, in case /masculism does turn out to be another piece of feminist circlejerkery. Thanks for the new info, though.

AVfM has been cited a few times, in the Bangor Daily, Ms Magazine, CBS News and NYT, but there aren't any sources on the site anymore, so I can't link to them without googling the articles, which I'm not interested in doing. However, AVfM has been villified in those sources, as well as just mentioned. Just so you know. edit: Not trying to argue with you, just pointing out the few times AVfM has been mentioned.

And this raises another difficulty in the arena of forced fatherhood/male reproductive rights. If we were to institute the principle of financial emancipation, the idea that a man has the right to give negative consent, or no consent, to being a father if a woman decides to carry his genetic material to term, then it only solves one half of the problem. What about men in the opposite situation, that is, a woman and a man achieve successful insemination, however, the woman chooses she does not wi…

That's one of the many things that's bothered me about feminism so much; the concept that men are consenting to both sex and fatherhood when they give consent to sex alone. In this day and age, with our modern forms of birth control, it is not unreasonable to require separate consent for both. It is not a legitimate assumption that a child will result from sex, therefore it is not unreasonable that consent to sex does not automatically equal consent to fatherhood. Anyway, that's all I wanted to …

Ok, ok, ok, guys, there's no way anyone can take this idiot seriously. "Pro-choice and pro-life is(sic) the same thing, stupid". HAHAHAHA, no fucking way. Not to mention the other gems she's left in the comment section, such as "Do you walk around naming your fingers or toes and deciding if they have rights?". She sure is a classy individual!

Soldier of 6 years here. I can tell you that every gay/lesbian person I had the pleasure of being friends with while I served in the Army is jumping for joy. However, there are still a few hurdles to be jumped before any tangible sort of equity is achieved. The DOMA is the next great obstacle in the path to equality in the military. Until the Federal Government is capable of recognizing same-sex, legal unions (call it marriage or civil union, whatever you prefer), g/l are being short changed. An…

This 100%. I stop listening whenever anyone uses the term kyriarchy with any amount of seriousness. The term is used by feminists to appear less insane than they truly are, especially when people point out the pitfalls and fallacies inherent in the concept of a modern western patriarchy. It's a fallback position intended to draw the unwary and ignorant into a false sense of security in the feminist ideal. It's bullshit. Edit: grammar

Fair enough, but I prefer not to read into someone's statements over the Internet. I also personally prefer not to read someone's post history, instead judging each post on its' own merits. It also seems ridiculous to me to assume that someone is immature considering I don't know them IRL. I don't wish to argue about this, I'm just sharing my opinion.

I'm not sure where you got the idea that he isn't mature enough for children. I didn't read a single sentence in his original post, nor his reply above, that leads me to believe that he isn't mature. But that seems to be the standard response in situations like his. Anyway, bananaphone, your wife is crazy. Remove yourself from the situation. You cannot reason with chemically imbalanced people, no matter what kind or intensity of love you guys have for each other. I have experience with the situa…

I completely understand. I hate hypocrisy itself, so while I disagree with your concept that it's uncomfortable to suspect it is happening, it is still a good method to root it out. Hypocrisy makes me uncomfortable, and it's even more awkward to realize that I'm being a hypocrite, but I'd rather be called out on it.

Well it is just a tool to draw the eye, as well as drive out hypocrisy. It's not a method to denigrate any particular group, so what's the harm?

I do too. However, if I were in your situation, and I had any intention of continuing to love my life, I would leave asap. You can continue to love and help from outside of the situation. I'm not telling you to stop loving these people, I'm just telling you that if you want to remain happy in your life, you should extricate yourself. Best of luck to you.
/r/MensRights15/05/11 08:44 PM

This is just ridiculous. Walk away from it all. The potential for you to get fucked over by the law far exceeds any potential happiness you could ever gain from this situation. I have two kids and I couldn't love any people or things more than I love them, so I'm sympathetic to the concept of having and loving children. Walk the fuck away.

I plan on writing a few times a month, but not all are going to be about the MRM. I plan on writing a bit about what the MRM means to me, how it impacts my life, maybe something about spreading the word. I have a few friends who have a cursory interest in the MRM, so I'd like to write a primer for them. Thank you all for your criticisms, anything is better than nothing. I did want to point out that this is not a battle cry. It's more of a rally. There are many facets of the MRM that I did not to…

We are in total agreement. I just thought the subject needed a little more explanation. To clarify, I was talking about rapists in general, and more specifically, rapists like this case who go to extraordinary lengths to erase all traces of their crime.

In most false rape cases, without an admission of guilt from the false claimant, the police have no other evidence, other than a lack of evidence from a rape kit, or testimony from others saying that it couldn't have happened, to prove that the claim was false. Those could come from a meticulous rapist (as in this case), or hearsay. At what point does the line get drawn? It's a very difficult distinction to make between a true rape claim and a false rape claim. I don't applaud the police for mak…

The only thing I gathered from the defense of this horrible person was that they were trying to justify her killing her own children. That's despicable.
