Never talk about how your exes/family mistreated you. That is giving away ammo to someone who will pull the trigger whenever you bring up something that bothers you. Doesn't matter if you set a boundary, they seemed understanding at first, good listener. One day your past will haunt you no matter how much work you did to exorcise the ghost. Don't give them the ammo.

Yes, we met when we were both dating other people, became facebook friends (in the era when facebook was new and you added everyone you met) but never spent time any time together. Started chatting some 5+ years later as we had similar interests, we would share articles and comments on each other's pages, met up in person some 6 months or so later .... and now we're married.

How many women start going off BC in their 30s to conceive? I noticed a huge difference in my libido once I was no longer on hormones, and I thought I was on the relatively low/localized dose Mirena IUD. I had been on some form of BC since about 18 so I'm really not sure what my natural sexual cycle was like until my 30s.

Nope, that is the mindset my mother had. She had seven of us, one after another, as soon as we got old enough to talk back she went on to the next baby and left us neglected and love starved. You don't bring a baby into the world to get love, you have one to give love. It's an incredible thing in itself.

Women quickly learn that rape is only a crime in theory; in practice the standard for what constitutes rape is not set at the level of experience of women's violation but just above the level of coercion acceptable to men. Recommended read: This is Your Brain on Birth Control by Sarah Hill, Ph.D. If a dude pressures you into it, tell him to read it before you'll consider BC. There's a fair bit of research in there about women losing their sex drive, motivation to look good, attraction for their partners...

Ignores you and shames/criticizes you for every parenting choice you make, even though you're keeping a baby alive, healing from birth trauma, and (most often) doing some other combination of work at home or returning to a workplace. Meanwhile, dude is gaming with baby asleep on his chest and a dirty diaper, society is like "AWWW!"

Doesn't mean anything. I knew a guy like that, he was always moving me around so he could walk curbside. Ended up raping me and cheating on his girlfriend in the process. Standards are more than superficial status signals.

There are more than 100 types of HPV, of which at least 14 are cancer-causing (also known as high risk type). HPV is mainly transmitted through sexual contact and most people are infected with HPV shortly after the onset of sexual activity. Cervical cancer is caused by sexually acquired infection with certain types of HPV. Two HPV types (16 and 18) cause 70% of cervical cancers and pre-cancerous cervical lesions. There is also evidence linking HPV with cancers of the anus, vulva, vagina, penis a…

I used to feel bad for men who posted on subreddits about deadbeadrooms, then I realized honestly they probably treat their wife like absolute shit or don’t bother trying to please her so why tf would she wanna have sex with him? I mean, who turns down quality sex? This exactly. Soooo many relationships start with: "I dont need to get off to be happy with sex" and end with her not bothering to initiate sex ever and turning him down when he wants it. I knew one woman, married less than a decade, …

Literally anything but being rude and standoffish, men will take as an invitation. I will say "hm" or "oh" if strange men attempt to talk to me. Slight nod, look away. I don't maintain eye contact. I definitely do not smile. I sometimes eyeroll. I'm slightly nicer to service workers (polite but share nothing about myself - they may track down addresses/social media of women who shop at their stores). At work I get straight to the point of business and keep it strictly professional. No "how are y…

I stopped being nice to men for exactly this reason. I will smile at any women, be friendly, make small talk, etc, but I will NOT do so with men. I am all business at work and standoffish-to-rude to stranger men. It is not worth the drama. Particularly being told that I'm leading them on! I'm married, I'm not into you, dude! Ugh.

Oh yes! I would say 8 yrs in I still feel intense sexual desire for my partner & it's never abated from the beginning. I think sometimes the excitement or desire is diminished due to life (too busy, tired, too much time together and not enough time pursuing our own interests, some ongoing disagreement or stress), but I still feel madly passionate on a regular basis, and especially so when we get to connect in our own special ways (like when we have long intellectual conversations or travel toget…

I think this is often true of postpartum depression as well. Yes, your hormones are changing rapidly. But the lack of support from your family, friends, and/or significant other, accompanied by newfound judgment from the aforementioned plus complete strangers, the loss of your individual identity as motherhood subsumes you whether you want it to or not (society will erase you), plus the possible total lack of financial security due to the US's inhumane and inadequate leave policies? Depressing a…

My brother was starting to read pick-up artist type materials and it was coming out in our conversations. I knew he looked up to me (this is key!) and I didn't want to push him away or get in a "debate." Men don't debate to learn, they debate to win, so if they think you're arguing, they will argue against their own opinions just to one-up you. So instead I just started scoffing and laughing at stuff he said. "Really? You think any decent woman would want to be with a man who puts her down? Smar…

Be mindful that you may be projecting your good qualities onto him. We try to see the best in others, believing we would never choose someone who didn't share our values, kindness, goodness... and then we try to maintain the lie despite all evidence to the contrary. Believe the evidence. Trust your gut. Your body will cause you pain until you can reconcile the truth within it.

Hey there, it's really common for birth control to affect your libido and sexual response. Check out Your Brain on Birth Control and Taking Charge of Your Fertility. If you've been taking birth control a long time, it will likely take some time (months at least) without it to return to your body's natural cycle. I'm sure there are other ways to impact your ability to orgasm while on birth control, but you may be facing a bigger challenge with it. Personally, I had IUDs and shots for many years, …

Mine too. She continued going to a shitty hairdresser for years because he flattered her. Always complained about the cut "he doesn't do what I want. I guess I have to grow it out again" and then she's back in the chair a month or two later. I went to him once (upon her insistence), told him, "I like something easy and low maintenance, I don't want to spend all morning on my hair." She didn't mention anything about her pleasure during sex which makes me wonder if she's part of the vast expanse of partnered women suffering from an orgasm gap. I mean, think about it. Would you be eager to jump in the sack if you were only 50% likely (or less 😱) to have an orgasm? If he expects you to do stuff you dont like so you dread getting naked with him? If he never touches you the way you like and no amount of direction gets him to? Here's what I want for every woman: desire. Not the k…

I had to change careers after having a baby because I was forced out of my job. That's why I posted this comment. I totally agree that no one (outside of brain injury) can take your education or skills away from you. I also feel that... in some ways we need to learn how to cultivate relationships with people that are stronger than jobs. This is a dating sub- you should be looking for a partner who will hold you up when you face difficulties such as job loss or new baby or sickness. A career will…

I disagree with this message. Especially as women, we are subject to sexism and discrimination that may throw our careers for a loop at any time. The best thing to do is trust yourself, become like a cat able to right herself after any fall, and adapt to the ever changing world. If you know and believe your value and skills, you can find a way to survive anything. The average person changes careers at least 3-5 times in their lifetime.

Definitely! I 100% agree with you. Some people think sex = PIV intercourse and think oral sex or mutual masturbation is harmless/unable to transmit STDs. But, if you're touching someone's genitals with your hands or mouth or they're doing that to you... yup, that's sexual contact and could put you at risk. Even if you're receiving and not reciprocating.

Wellllll part of the definition of "sexually transmitted disease" includes... sexual contact. But that doesn't mean intercourse. Herpes (oral and genital), syphilis, HPV (genital warts) and crabs (public lice) can all spread through skin to skin contact regardless of condom use. So it's worth having guys get themselves tested before you have sex, even if you're using condoms.

I dunno about Bernie but Chomsky is anti porn. Pornography is humiliation and degradation of women. It's a disgraceful activity. I don't want to be associated with it. Just take a look at the pictures. Women are degraded as vulgar sex objects. That's not what human beings are. I mean, I don't even see anything to discuss.

Lysol also made veiled suggestions that its products could be used as birth control! That claim was not true. By 1940 the douche would become the most popular “contraceptive” in the US. A 1933 study of 507 women who used Lysol for birth control resulted in nearly half getting pregnant. Meanwhile, doctors had reported 193 poisonings and 5 deaths from Lysol douching before 1911. Women routinely complained of vaginal burning and blisters, though lawsuits were overturned and reports covered up. Neve…

They dont want an audience. They want the ability to gaslight her later when they're embarrassed over being rejected. "I didn't ask her out, I said she was ugly!" If there are other women around we give each other feedback on the interaction. It's harder for them to charm and confuse when you have six psychoanalyst besties breaking down the text. FDS is a manipulator's worst nightmare - a bunch of women working together to help each other raise the bar so far above them.

Hahaha so... I have to share this story from when I was a teenager and chatted up strangers online. I had gotten to know some guy a few states over. We both liked reading and poetry and he would send me books sometimes. Of course we end up chatting about meeting up, and he decides he's going to come to my state. I'm like "cool." THIS. Cheating is NEVER spontaneous. It begins with a look, a conversation, an intention. There are multiple possible stopping points. I don't expect my partner to never experience attraction or desire, but I expect him to uphold his fidelity and not behave like a stupid animal just because someone offers an opportunity. It's a pretty low bar, TBH, but men have collectively been pushing it so far down.

You also have to be twice as good as they are in something to be successful but they'll still say that was only because you're a woman. Ain't that the truth. And pickme women enable then too. At my majority female job I get to hear them complimenting men every time their names come out of their mouths, meanwhile they're nitpicking all the other women for daring to say no or have an opinion. Never heard a man get nitpicked, whatever he says goes, gotta accommodate. Hate it.

Men cant understand that just because a woman wants a baby doesn't mean she wants HIS baby. Here's a tip, lurker males: women decide whose genes get to survive to the next generation. If you're sad about not being picked, you can either level up or go to therapy to find a way to accept it, but you CANNOT force your sperm into an unwilling woman!
