Haha probably true. It's not significant at all and I don't know the amount. Just her profession.. Point is, the government wouldn't be on any ones side. And I don't tolerate disrespect so all good. I'm not changing my lifestyle anytime soon

It'a the real shitty part no one wants to talk about outside of these forums. My plan was to get my own condo, raise my son and live my life as best as I can. Date and never cohabitate or remarry. I'm now dating someone who is amicably divorced like me and also makes more money than me. That's the only type of person Id agree to marriage to. But maybe 25 years when we are retired. What's the rush?

I understand I'm in the extreme minority and very fortunate. I get it. It was my fault and she has every reason to hate me but she chose not to because she's a good person, and I am too. We are kick ass coparents. I wish that was the norm but I know it is not. I believe the OPs boyfriend though because I know that it is possible because that is also how I have it.

Well if it interrupts your quality time you just need to communicate that. But don't try to give him an ultimatum or something. He has a healthy relationship with the mother of his kids. My ex wife is the shit and I hope we will always remain friends like that. We've known each other since we were kids damn near

This helps a lot. Exercise and black metal for me. And doing something creative like writing or playing guitar, etc

As others said, you need to talk to someone before you make any rash decisions. It's ok to ask for help. You can do the things you want to do and still be married. You'll have to talk to your wife about it too and I'm sure she'd be supportive. Trust me from experience the saying "the grass isn't always greener on the other side" is true. You need to take care of your own lawn first.

My wife changed her stance on kids about 8 months into marriage. I'd say that's a pretty significant change lol. We both didn't want kids before we married. we were early 30s at the time. Guess it's on me for getting married and not wanting kids. Pretty pointless in retrospect. I heard a saying once.."a man gets married hoping his wife will never change, but she does. A woman gets married hoping her husband will change but doesn't". Paraphrasing it but that totally makes sense in my case. Shit s…

NP. With 50/50 you can alternate who gets to claim the kids (one year on, one year off. With multiple kids you may have more options but unsure). Fair is fair

Fight for 50/50. So she's basically asking for slightly more than 50% and you'd have slightly less than 50%. So basically she wants all of the financial benefits (claiming kids come tax season) with only slightly more responsibility (barely any more). Absolutely not. Fuck that. Fight for 50/50 and don't give up. Good luck

I'm alone today for Christmas too. Enjoy the quiet and alone time. Make yourself a good dinner, have a beer, watch a movie. Do whatever. I'm going for a long walk through the woods today after cleaning and watching the new matrix movie tonight. Should be a good Christmas lol. I get my son tomorrow so he can open gifts from Santa.

The only one showing their true colors is you by being outed as a liar. People are allowed to have their preferences. There's a lot of women who will date short men and a lot that won't. That's life. But almost none of them will date liars.

Well hopefully lesson learned there for her. I have to say once I'm divorced the one thing im looking forward to is controlling my money. Its been so hard knowing where my money is going and seeing the joint account dwindle lower and lower until I start to panic. It makes it incredibly hard to Budget and pay off debts or save

Oh God no. You're a smart man and made the right decision. Yes it sucks yes it hurts but she did this, not you and she doesn't respect you at all

You got downvoted but when you're right you're right. I don't think marriage is worth it anymore in today's society. It's already on the decline and divorce is at 50% and more with each subsequent marriage. If you're sure you don't want kids, then absolutely do not get married. There's no benefit at all

They won't. They'll resent you afterword once they're old enough to understand for giving up on them as much as it sucks

I like this. Tell those who need to know, you don't need to tell those who don't need to know

As someone else mentioned, you're likely going to have to sell it, downgrade and use the equity as a safety net. Going through same thing and wanted to keep home too but it's just not feasible. I'm at peace with it now. I just want a kick ass apartment now. You'll have to lawyer up if you want alimony

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
