Ah! Well different areas. Regardless, some of these attorneys will promise you the sun and the moon but when it comes time to putting up even the slightest bit of fight on your behalf, they retract their fangs immediately. In my relative’s case, his attorney is more often putting the pressure on him to “take the deal” than pushing her attorney to accept their offers and conditions. Heck, he get barely get the opposing attorney to respond to his messages on time. And when my relative pushes back,…

Where in TX? As I said, my contact is in Frisco (north of Dallas).

Out of curiosity, can I ask what area are you in? Someone I know is going through the same thing in Frisco area and his attorney has been just as incompetent as yours.

My STBX filed first. About 6 months in now and so far, I don’t feel like it benefitted her in any way. Could just be my situation.

I am in the midst of a collaborative divorce process right now (no mediator involved, just our two attorneys) and “no private schools” was one of the first topics I had my attorney bring up once 50/50 custody had been agreed upon. STBX is catholic and I knew she will want the kids to attend catholic schools at some point so I went on the offensive before it even became an issue. Ask your attorney to state that you want the kids to be in public schools throughout their lives especially given your…

It should take your accountant less than 15 mins to find your tax returns and email them to you. For marriage certificate, go to your country registrar’s office and pay to get a duplicate copy. Half hour tops. If you just don’t feel like doing either of those, give your attorney whatever docs you can get a hold of. Anything in sole possession of your stbx, she will have to share with her attorney which will make its way to your attorney sooner or later and eventually in your hands as well. That’…

This was heartbreaking to read and sorry it happened to you. Two bits of good news as far as I can tell- 1. you seem to be in a better place now than before and realize and corrected your mistakes by going to rehab/counseling. 2. your ex-wife didn’t rush into starting a new relationship and still continues to keep your belongings. It looks like you may get a second chance after all. But don’t rush it and definitely don’t force it on your ex by starting a dialog too soon. Actions speak louder tha…

Just read through your current post and the old “smart-ass” one and loved both of them!! I am in the thick of it now. Have been separated for a few months and living under the same roof. It took a while to finish mourning the loss of my past relationship, for the broken home my kids will grow up in, for the future I had envisioned for my family that will no longer come to fruition. But that is all behind me and my mind is fully made up now. No looking back; only looking forward. I can hardly wai…

Sounds just like my stbx. I have known this woman for 12+ years and married 10 and in all these years, I think she may have apologized to me a total of a dozen times. And that’s not even an exaggeration. Meanwhile I have had to apologize after 99% of the disagreements, in situations where I knew I was wrong, where we were both wrong and even where she was objectively wrong. Just to keep the peace. I have bent over backwards to make it up to her every time. But no more. At this point, we have bee…

For me, it’s the kind of girls she is friends with. Most of my stbx’s girl friends have been divorced once/twice/three times. The ones she is closest to only date well off guys, break up with them at the first sign of trouble and move on to their next sugar daddy within weeks, if not days, of breaking up. Sad thing is that stbx always called her friends gold diggers (behind their backs) but as it turned out, she herself was gold digger who is now dating a rich doctor 20 years older than her. I f…
