Cool, man. Lurking here has helped me too. I've slept with a HB10 and am on the cusp of the best relationship I've ever experienced in my life with a beautiful woman. I'm not leaving though. Always more to learn, even if I don't plan to use it.

Nah, I haven't actually ever had a proper relationship that I could be hurt. I'm definitely not afraid of being hurt. I AM afraid of other things like the girl losing interest in me, being tired of keeping up the facade of being an interesting guy, of constantly thinking of things to say, and just being plain pessimistic about the relationship. If the girl is interested in you when you're being yourself you won't have any facade to keep up. And if you like each other you don't always need to hav…

It's not even subconscious. You're consciously having a thought that is related to you losing interest.

This is a really good post, but as a resident of Boston for seven years now I had to interrupt my reading to say it's totally rational for someone to ask a Harvard student what it's like to live in Boston. "Boston proper" is actually a relatively small part of the city's scope. Just like New York is made up of Manhattan, Harlem, Brooklyn, etc, Boston is made up of multiple burbs as well. Beyond that, it's not unreasonable at all that somebody might attend Harvard and live in Eastie (East Boston)…

This guy. You should listen to this guy, people. You have to love yourself first. Dumb sounding but true.

Could you elaborate and give some insight on what IOIs one might watch for in a professional/academic environment? As well as how the girl would want him to respond, generally.

Thank you for this. Very useful for me, as this is more my style of flirting anyway.

Good write-up. I'm happy for you. I also just want to say, to anyone reading, he gives a lot of very good advice here. Many of these are things that I have started to incorporate into my life over the past six months, and it has had very tangible benefits. I am more sociable, more confident, and have many more opportunities with women than I used to (though I still strike out at the same rate, nearly all of the time, still working on that). I'm still head over heels in love with this one chick, …

Recently I've taken to passive-aggressively avoiding her, then exploding when she confronts me. "Then stop talking to her," you say. Astute observation! But, we're roommates. "Move out, DUH!" You are a wise one! But, I can't. Subletting strictly forbidden on our lease. "You're-" -a dumbass, I know. I hate my life.

Thank you for this. Been dating a girl for about 6 weeks now and we just tonight had "The Talk" regarding what both of us want out of this relationship. At this point I already know that I want to do everything in my power to keep her around for as long as possible, she's miles ahead of any girl I've dated previously. Having that thread saved will definitely be a valuable resource for me as this relationship moves forward.

I love this reply so much I would express hope that your night goes well but that seems incorrect, instead I'll say may you accept whatever you encounter tonight with an awakened mind

Thank you for posting this. I've just subscribed to this subreddit as a recent convert (though I have reservations about using that term as I'm quite wet behind the ears still). I've been reading the works of Pema Chodron over the last several months and much of her wisdom is echoed in these teachings. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and will be saving it for further study.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
