Where are these feminist lawmakers, and what misandrist laws are they promoting/enacting? Also, do you give this same response to every "Christian" who doesn't support all the fucked up stuff in the Bible?

Except women literally do get assaulted for being feminine, that’s why people will doubt rape victims on the basis that “they aren’t pretty (feminine) enough” and why women are told to when going out to not look too sexy lest they be assaulted because of it, the difference is that when women are punished for being perceived as feminine it’s considered the natural rule of existing as a woman, while when men are punished for being perceived as feminine it’s regarded as a deviation because they’re …

How is saying “this is more harmful to x group” veiling anything? I’m white and terrified of police brutality because it indeed does happen to white people, but when I hear black people say “police brutality affects us more” I don’t see that as them “veiling” anything.

Yes, exactly, I was beaten up for not being “man” enough, that is to say, for being too much like a woman. So yes, given that I have been treated negatively for being too much like a woman, I do feel confident in saying the treatment would likely be worse if I was someone who was actually, visibly a full woman, given that simply being more like that than a ‘man’ (both made-up concepts) is what has led me to be abused to the extent that I have.

Y’all really treat this phenomena of “it’s easier to find a dude willing to meet up than a woman” like it’s some mysterious advantage women have in the dating scene rather than the natural result of them being more likely to get assaulted by male sexual/romantic partners and thus tending to be more picky out of a concern for safety. To you the weird guy you’re talking to online is just weird but to her he’s a potential threat.

I’m not interested in the “society” angle (though there’s a conversation to be had there) but I’ll say lots of people clearly don’t understand how metabolism varies from person to person. Yes what you describe is a general trend of how weight loss/gain usually tends to work, but there are still massive difference in how it can play out individually. Personally I am very skinny and this has been constant throughout my life, even when I became very depressed and spent all my time sitting at home e…

Um gonna need you to back up this argument if you want me to take it seriously. Personally I was assigned male at birth, identify as genderfluid non-binary, and, in spite of having allegedly been “born male” I’ve only ever been punished, socially, for being too feminine, for not being “enough of a real man” compared to others, specifically with regards to targeted harassment/assault, many of my harassers/abusers/assailants have told me they specifically attacked me on account of them not seeing …

The way your comment is framed doesn’t make any relation clear since you don’t specify what subreddit you’re referring to, not to mention that subreddit is actually where I would pull examples of what I’m talking about (if I didn’t unfortunately see that as a waste of time given I don’t expect such effort to bare substantive fruit based on the way this conversation started off and has gone) in terms of people using that phrase to describe men who are too concerned with masculinity. I’m not denyi…

You say something completely unrelated to the comment you’re responding to (which, to help you understand, was about the phrase “fragile masculinity” in general, not any particular subreddit) while also failing to explain/justify what it is you’re even trying to say (had to look at other comments to figure out WTF you were even talking about cause you didn’t explain shit), but expect me to take seriously your empty ‘advice’ on which subs are/aren’t toxic / worth participating in, how silly.

Could you please cite examples of what you’re talking about? In my experiences the phrase is meant to convey the opposite of what you describe, it’s supposed to mock men who are obsessed with “manning up” and point out that the rigid ideal of traditional masculinity they feel pressured to conform to is unstable/unhealthy, hence, their masculinity is fragile. In the scenario I describe the men aren’t being mocked for not being “masculine” enough, they’re being mocked for trying too hard to be a s…

Joe Rogan has interviewed Milo Yiannopolus, Charles C Johnson, Owen Benjamin, and Carl Benjamin, to name a few. Just because platforming white supremacists isn’t the primary function of his podcast doesn’t mean it isn’t something he’s guilty of having done. “Casual” isn’t necessarily referring to frequency but tone, even just one widely viewed/listened to conversation with a white supremacist where their hate is treated as “just a harmless, quirky little disagreement of ideas two bros can smoke …

Bro I’m sorry there’s some good points here about hyper sexualization and unfair beauty standards and adultery all being problems social media has in many ways made worse, but I can’t take you seriously when you unirionically still insist on treating human relationships as a “market”, refer to people as “betas”, and seem to be under the mistaken impression that women are all blissfully unaware that the dating scene is trash, as if they don’t talk constantly about all the misogynistic shit they h…

Uh, I consider myself an MRA and very much in contrast to “the narrative”, but I think there’s valid argument to be made that the two people you listed have played big part in leading people to the ‘alt-right’ (a reductive term I’d rather not use, so let’s say “regressive reactionary right-wing views” instead) whether intentionally / while identifying as part of the ‘alt-right’ (or even as right-wingers) or not. Jordan Peterson promotes “traditional” (/misogynistic) views (him having religious c…

To me being a leftist means opposing all systems of oppression, flat out, and as a male advocate this means caring specifically about the forms of oppression men suffer from and acting to combat that oppression. I’d really genuinely like to know; what are your grievances with feminism?

Yes but what do you hope to accomplish by posting about this issue constantly and exclusively? Do you think society is going to shift so that yourself and everyone like you gets a girlfriend if you just post in this subreddit about “inequality in the dating market” enough times? I don’t see where this observation that “some people fit into hegemonic models which make dating easier while others don’t and thus tend to be more lonely” leads to any sort of meaningful, positive praxis. When people ta…

People generally don’t feel the need to bring up inequality (particularly within the context of political discussion like this sub is meant for) unless they are attempting to rectify a situation they view as unjust, otherwise why bother talking about it?

I’m just saying when I think of systemic injustice I think of people being denied that which they are rightfully owed (food, water, shelter, protection from violence, bodily autonomy, etc) but nobody is owed sex or any form of intimacy, and when you use the former as a way to segue into the latter it has the effect of trivializing the entire concept of “inequality” if we harp over every time someone experiences something that another person isn’t as if that’s ALWAYS some sort of travesty in need…

I apologize if I come across as callous, I constantly wrestle with feelings of depression regarding my loneliness, but I also have enough perspective to see all the horrible shit people deal with because of economic/political inequality to have a hard time not scoffing when I see men comparing “dating inequality” to actual life-and-death systemic injustice.

Uh, saying this as a very lonely, insecure kind-of-virgin (I did on a handful of occasions perform some sexual acts just not full-out sex as most people think of it) who used to consider myself an incel (though by most people’s standards I wasn’t as I never thought I was owed anything) but ‘dating inequality’ really isn’t a legitimate problem worth bringing up in anywhere near remotely the same conversation as economic inequality, if anything it’s very disrespectful to the countless men and wome…

This makes me think of how I was banned from r/askfeminists for saying that body-shaming and generally shaming men for not being “traditionally masculine” (‘nerdy’) is a legitimate problem in feminist circles that I personally have suffered from as an AMAB genderfluid enby who has been targeted by both men and women (including outspoken “progressives” such as my non-binary ex!) for harassment or outright physical(/sexual) abuse on the basis of them perceiving me as a deficient male and thus need…

Your “dysfunction” argument is faulty because tons of abusers are successful businessmen/politicians/celebrities that function very well in all areas of life, and it is this success which enables them to more easily violate other people and then proceed to get away with it more easily.

I’m sorry but, correct me if I’m wrong, are you trying to imply there is a link between class and the likelihood of encountering rapists? Because I feel very confident in saying that there are plenty of successful, stable, hardworking men with strong social circles who get away with sexual abuse constantly right under the noses of their peers (saying this as a victim of sexual assault at the hands of at least a dozen or so people throughout my life (I don’t know the exact number because one inci…

Well first off I literally don’t even identify as a man, not sure why you’re making this conversation about my gender when this started with you talking about what alphas do/don’t do, me saying you shouldn’t lend any legitimacy to the idea of “alphas” even being real, in response to which you claimed never to have mentioned alpha males even though you literally did, read the last line of your own comment: “This isn’t shit alphas actually say” I take discussions of this stuff seriously because as…

Yeah okay so you’re now once again doing what I accused you of, which is legitimizing the concept of alpha males (which you falsely claimed not to have mentioned, IDK you tell me whether you consider lying to more “alpha” or “beta” and what that makes you cause I don’t believe in or even fully understand your rules but I’d be curious to know how you judge yourself.)

NGL you kinda lose immediately when you validate the idea of “alpha males” as even being a legitimate concept, seeing as how it’s been scientifically disproven.

Bold of you to assume I’m trans ( Or that any woman is less real than any other; all of gender (including biological sex) is socially constructed for largely arbitrary reasons and therefore “fake” in a sense, the archetype of binary cis men and women are socially constructed and don’t actually exist in any meaningful way beyond how people choose to describe them, the same goes for all other variants of gender, people just are what they say they are and you’re wasting your time digging your heels…

It’s very telling of your ignorance that you think the only reason someone could feel that need to speak out against patriarchy is for them to be a simp. I’m literally a woman talking about these issues because I’ve dealt with them, and I’m not looking to attract any dating prospects online. Maybe consider empathizing with the perspectives others a little instead of presuming yourself to be an omnipotent God capable of intuiting every random strangers intentions with zero evidence 🤷🏼

You’re oversimplifying things a lot. It’s true that a lot of people downplay or straight up deny rape and general sexual abuse against men / at the hands of women but that shit definitely happens, speaking as someone who’s been sexually abused by men and women. Women’s month exists to not only acknowledge the struggles of women but also to celebrate their history of working to overcome those struggles. Men only get a single day, which indeed is mocked by many, because to many women every single …

She was exaggerating with her first comment, but the second one is pretty true; the consequences of women being sexist towards men pale in comparison to what women suffer because of men’s sexism, saying this as an AMAB non-binary person who’s been abused by people of basically every gender identity, including even an ex of mine who was AFAB non-binary and was trans-misogynistic towards me, I have a pretty nuanced perspective on gender issues and feel confident in saying that on the whole people …
