I'm referring specifically to adults in this case. I understand of course that both male and female children are often trafficked. But if I'm not compare apples to apples with this example I have to refer specifically to adults only.

I think it is a mens rights thing since it revolves around physical exploitation and disposability. Just like how there's a higher chance for women to be sexually exploited through human trafficking. I don't think there's anything wrong with feminists pointing out cases where women are disproportionately disadvantaged. As such I don't see any reason we shouldn't point out cases where the same happens to men.

That's a fantasy scenario. The media could still report on the unjust detainment of 'person x' as well as having the ability to identify the defendant in the event of a guilty verdict. The difference is, the real defendant wouldn't have their name dragged through the mud before they've given their defense.

You can easily say a child's welfare needs to be priority but everyone draws the line somewhere. The government for example could provide enough funding for single parents so that no child would ever be in need of support from fathers but they choose not to. They put their own interests ahead of children and fathers. We could potentially force women who put their children up for adoption to pay parental support for that child, but we don't because we put a woman's interests and rights before the…

This throws water on the tired old "power fantasy" theory thrown around to create a disparity in how we view and respond to expectations of beauty in men and women. If huge proportions for men in popular media were idolized for the purposes of "power" then there wouldn't be an increasing trend towards this aesthetic as demonstrated in this article. In fact the opposite trend would have occurred. It has simply become impossible to defend the position that women's desires aren't shaping this trend…

Just look at the response for this video. The audience is mainstream not even nutty feminists, but it's still full of complaints about 'derailing' or 'we can't help both genders right now'.

Not every single to.es does the father never get to see their kid. That's not nearly what I consider adequate
/r/MensRights15/10/13 03:10 PM

I'll phrase that in a better way. The paternal benefits that a father gives is just as important as the financial benefits. Any society that thinks it can deny one while expecting the other and still claim the moral high ground is a society of hypocrites.

GWW gets a lot of flak from people who assume that she's popular/accessible because she's a woman. That's a load of bullshit. She's popular because she isn't loud or obnoxious, she doesn't alienate non-libertarianism audiences, she provides an argument that is both emotionally compelling while still basing it in evolutionary biology. Her videos are concise and always stay within the context of the main topic and she intricately weaves history, biology and sociology together to provide a valuable…

You are honestly fucking retarded. If you believe they're innocent stay out of it until it goes to trial. If you believe they're guilty stay out of it until it goes to trial. This is a community that supports the presumption of innocence. Not the demonizing of accused or the harassment of accusers. It's simple, if you can't wrap your head around that then you should fuck off, no one wants you here.

The undeniable truth about this is it means that feminists believe that girls are exactly 2 years behind boys in maturity. There's no other reason why they would enforce a double standard like this right? right...?

I think in general the way women and girls abuse and bully is ignored in favour focusing purely on physical violence. In school and the workplace things like gossip and social manipulation are treated as harmless despite the fact they can absolutely ruin someone's life to a point they're driven to suicide. Like Erin says 'family terrorism' is a big problem and one that domestic violence is always given precedence over. Either gender can be violent or socially manipulative, but I think they're a …

It's step one, two and specifically three on the ten steps of Brainwashing. Once you get them to admit their just a bunch of good for nothing rapists it makes them willing to sign up for whatever wacky law, petition or belief they're trying to push as a way to channel their guilt.

Couldn't agree more suzz, can't possibly understand why people would be offended. Just last week I was I was telling a black fellow he was a potential murderer, since ..you know it's statistically more likely, and he goes on some bizarre rant about racism and profiling. Funny I thought what people wore had no impact on whether or not they would be raped. I guess I was wrong, all rapes must happen to slutty college students in stilettos. Thanks MSU! This subreddit doesn't need to have a humorous side. It's not an alternative world-view based conglomerate like SRS. There doesn't need to be a /r/mensrightsfunny or a /r/mensrightsgaming. Most issues don't have a clear 'result' and are more complex in their cause and effects than can be statistically recorded. Add to that biases in which different people view the same acts committed against each gender differently and the biological differences between men and women with their compounding issues and equality becomes infinitely subjective. Quite frankly if equality was simply and easy to measure then MR wouldn't exist because the existing measurement systems would be correct and n…

I can see where they're going by saying that non-violent bullying doesn't justify violent retaliation. But one thing to note here is what other choice did he actually have? I mean if the administration doesn't want to help, the girls aren't going to stop and their parents don't want to be involved, then what other options are there. The old "fight back if you're bullied" trope doesn't work when emotional bullying is the instigator. For that reason I can't see how there could have been any other …

ughh There are similarities between Atheism and Men's rights in that people are unfairly attuned to see many things said by these groups as far more offensive that they actually are. However, to conclude that should mean that anything should be said since it will always be interpreted as too offensive is ridiculous. There are many times people on this subreddit go way too far even considering this bias. There may be one day where people judge what MRAs say equally with what feminists say but if …

The way I see it, the belief that men are/were more privileged than women or that women are/were more privileged than men can only ever be an opinion, it can't be quantified. So if someone comes to a false conclusion it can never really be proven and therefore the "acceptability" of their opinion is only yet another opinion. also, citing equal treatment as the basis for a position has long been a useful tactic in civil disobedience, so i don't know why you think it's disgraceful. Are you really that ignorant to believe that idiocy and radicalism stems from one place and that level headedness and intelligence comes from another? Right now MR's greatest enemies come from both extreme wings of politics and they were both put there by idiocy and radicalism. That's because they can. The only way you can prevent that is with mainstream normalization. If you directly pit feminism with MR, most people will choose the more familiar, more socially accepted group. The trick is to build a foundation of trust with the public that is independent from feminism and therefore gets past peoples defenses. You still haven't answered my question.

It still makes it sound like you're only in it for the perks of being confrontational and pissing people off rather than making a difference. Thought I might add a few; Feminism downplays and marginalizes female victims of domestic violence and rape in Lesbian couples. By portraying all perpetrators as men, they are denying a voice to a proportion of society that often doesn't have its victim-hood taken seriously because of the belief in women's purity and inability to cause harm. Feminism can sometimes be constricting in its expectations it puts on women to fulfill their ideal definition of womanhood. Women are expected to juggle the…

TwoX shits me for that same reason. It's all circlejerk of reverse-gender role shaming that ends up being just as intolerant and constricting as the opposite. People need to realize that you don't end gender-roles by opposing them. All that does is create opposing gender-roles. You end gender-roles by being open-minded to all standards. That's just because Asians have traditionally been oppressors in America and action needs to be taken to limit the Asiarchy! The extremist feminism/anarchism section of the left wing is a lot like the religious faction of the right wing. It's an unnecessary political establishment that has wormed it's way into a legitimate party to hijack the message of the party to suit their radical views. Neither has a place in a sane, moderate society.

Another clear example of how how common it is for some feminists to throw away their principles of equal attitudes towards both genders and act like scared little girls who need protection when they're in over their heads. That being inclusive of everyone will mean challenging what is traditional? Sadly a lot of the time... yea. Many that come from a marginalised group of non-normalicy sometimes feel their best shot for acceptance is not acceptance of non-normalicy but instead the attempt to reverse what is considered normal or traditional. You both make good points and you both have valid concerns. There's no need to be at each others throats because there's a middle ground where both sides can be happy.

It's sad that liberalism is intrinsically attached to things feminism because in highly liberal countries like Sweden the result is far from progressive. When the wind changes feminism will be viewed as conservative and all the resulting men's and egalitarian ideologies will be seen as true liberalism.

Reddit sadly doesn't have an "i disagree" button so there's no real way of showing what opinions are agreed with and what aren't, and since this subreddit is often criticised when it's more extreme members receive large amounts of upvotes, it ends up turning a lot of people away. I'm not condoning such an action in any way, I'm just expressing the reasons why it happens.

Some feminists think the only thing men are good for is to extract and freeze their genetic matter. Sick yea I know but that's what happens when there's no one around to intellectually challenge your movement.

I upvoted you because I think your view is legitimate, we shouldn't be so rigid to assume that we all have to adopt one view. In fact we should be a sea of differing opinions to ensure we don't fall into the trap of believing that there's only one true way for men's rights. Having said that we do eventually need to form a public consensus if we ever want to express our views to a wider audience. I don't think that's too much to result in a perpetual movement. We have to maintain individual opini…

I support any woman's right to choose her own gender role. I don't endorse a rigid traditional gender role or the opposite gender role set out be feminism as being for the good of all women. If a female wants to be a career women and have no interest in raising a family then I support that decision. If on the other hand a women wants to be a stay-at-home mom then I think that decision is just as acceptable. Feminism despite the name hasn't always been supportive of femininity, this is changing b…

Sadly our view is so skewered that whenever a man makes any kind of complaint it's viewed as "hypersensitive" even when it's something that most women wouldn't bat an eye-lid at being enraged over. And that's it really, the only thing we're asking for is parity.

I find it funny how comparable their reactions are to the whole slutwalk scenario in directly blaming the victim. "It's such an outrageous action so he must have had it coming". Rape accusers get instant victim-hood. Mutilation victims are assumed guilty. What a world!

It's all tit for tat really. But never the less the sooner people realise you can't quantify discrimination, the sooner people realise that women aren't inheritently the most discriminated gender.

Of course they're not exclusive. Unfortunately sometimes a debate such as the rape allegation or child custody debate and others get painted as a straightforward non-partisan issue. When in fact the issue can be pushed too far in either direction and regularly is.

ok, fair enough there is a difference between the labels describing what you can "be" and what you "support". It's probably better not to get bogged down in semantics.

Wasn't aware of that, it's a shame anyone wouldn't simply concede that point. I guess as always when people are discriminated against they tend to go off into support groups and end up more radical then they need to be, that's true with everyone really.

Does that really exclude the inter-sexed and gender queer? If I am accepting of cis-gender does that automatically mean I can't be accepting of transsgender? Why does there have to be opposition between the two concepts? Gender roles don't have to be changed or torn down so that you can enjoy existing outside them, it just needs to be more acceptable to do so.

I think technically if you support both feminism and men's rights that effectively makes you an egalitarian. In the same way that liking men and women makes you Bi and not straight and gay, since those terms are both exclusionary.

Not every feminist position throughout times has been proven scientifically. In fact definitions of feminism change throughout time (1st gen, 2nd gen etc.) and with them the cited evidence changes to fit the new general consensus. This isn't so much the view changing to fit the evidence as it is the attempt to find evidence that fits a new view. People here cite evidence to support their arguments but that doesn't mean everyone here has to pretend there's only one correct viewpoint.

I find it out of place and unnecessary to state. Honestly it'd be like a gay person coming on and you saying "I support you just don't hit on me". Most gays aren't out to have sex with straight people just like most transsexuals are upfront about their gender, including that in your opening message is borderline phobic and not at all welcoming to a community who should be an ally.

One thing you'll never get on this subreddit is a general consensus. There are a few reasons for this, the main being that Men's rights is a new movement and there's not a lot of authoritative figures and literature to cite. But I think the most important reason is that there simply shouldn't be. In /r/feminisms and feminism in general there's a lot of talk about who is a "true" feminism, and that in addition to supporting women's rights you have to favour equality and a host of other personal i…

The right for a man to have the privilege to dress and act how he wants falls under the umbrella of men's rights in the same way the right for a women to dress and act how she decides would be a goal of feminism. Most feminists and MRA's would agree on the point of nonrestrictive male presentation, however feminism has only been particularly interested in normalizing FtM behavior. In the last 40 years male standards have been almost as restrictive as ever, in comparison to female standards. Whic…

I do find it delightfully ironic to see arguments that men are inferior in today's working environment and that any inequalities they face are a result of their own inadequacies. Yet the same shallow arguments were used against women to explain why they couldn't compete against men in the labor market. Clearly there's a double standard. I'd put forward that today's market is not entirely suited towards women's social traits but rather a combination of the new social aspect coupled with the tradi…

Unless you consider gay and bi men who are far more stigmatised than lesbian and bi women. Also the fact that men deal with criticism when being non-sexual. Counting those two points I'd say that male deviant sexuality is more unacceptable.

Capitalism copies. For every successful product there's about 1000 knock-offs attempting to reproduce the original's financial achievement, this has nothing to do with the 'west is original/east is conformist' argument unless you recognised that capitalism is a western social structure system and therefore it's the west that's conformist.

Still doesn't change the fact that if advocating violence against men (even as a joke) came up in 2x or some other gender discussion subreddit everyone in here would be up in arms about double standards of gender violence. If you're someone who would be bothered by this then you should at least avoid being a hypocrite and set an example for yourself. Men will be men... This is where every fucked up negative stereotype about men is born, you wouldn't accept it if a woman was being a crazy emotion…

Serious, honest question here. Do you actually have any proof that any of the cultural oddities you just mention were in fact "developed by men"? I'm curious if there's actually evidence that these practices were universally supported by men and absolutely opposed by women but still came into effect through male domination. Is there proof for this or are you just taking it on assumption. As far as I'm aware in any society there are men who support the advancement of women's causes, there are wom…

Are you so insecure about supporting any male rights that you need someone to chime out that it's an issue that hurts women as well. Even through it's posted on a male rights subreddit by an op that doesn't even claim women don't have it bad. You say that he's making it a 'who has it worse' fight but your initial claim was that women possible have it equally as bad, which is obvious to anyone to be plainly wrong and only serves to make little of the plight of men. I have personally never heard o…

Where the hell does this assumption come from that all porn is the degradation of women for the pleasure of men. That couldn't be further from the truth; there's women degrading women, men degrading men even women degrading men. Why don't we hear about how these types of porn damage the minds of their views? Of course we don't, it doesn't fit pre-conceived notions of male domination. Some people get off on it in fantasy, some might consider doing it in real life. It doesn't matter either way sin…

It's not easy to gain for some. For me fats from milk or any other food go straight to my face or out of my system. I'd go so far as to say weight gain is an impossibility caused by my metabolism.

A true feminist would support a fellow woman's right to participate in whatever legal sexual and pornographic activity she wished. It's funny how some radical feminists want to control women the same way they claim male society has control over women.

I don't even understand how anything he did could be interpreted as "unfaithful." He basically had sex with two women and didn't bother to tell either one of them of the other. Plenty of people, both men and women do that and as far as I'm aware he was neither in any committed relationship nor made any hint that he'd like to start one. Are we seriously ok with basing rape charges on misguided jealousy and a dislike of the accused person's personality. Next time I hear the old saying that 'women …
