That sucks for Canadians. I was coming from a U.S. perspective where a step-parent does not have to pay child support. In Canada, you are right but in the United States you are wrong. We are specifically speaking about step-parents. If you are the biological parent, then yes you can be on the hook for child support. That's interesting that you say that but it is not entirely true. First being they are not married, second they aren't even living together. Here is a link to some information about it. But since he isn't married to her, he has no obligation to support that child nor can he be forced to legally.

Military is a good option. I'm career Marine, 2 more years until I retire at 44.
