People bullying FDS on Reddit is actually how I found it!!! I know lots of other ladies feel the same way. I wanted to see how terrible it was for myself, and found a bunch of ladies making intelligent posts that resonated with me lol

They’re all actors from College Humor. Very funny group of people, this is from their Dungeons and Dragons game. Pretty sure that’s Siobhan in the video!

Hi! Just letting you know he’s just roleplaying as an asshole. They’re playing Dungeons and Dragons. No need to be rude about his looks. They’re all comedians, he’s playing into the nice guy trope and making fun of it.

It's Dungeons and Dragons, she probably needed to be nice to him for a Quest but couldn't just stand there and listen to him be an asshole. The guy talking is just role playing as an asshole. Just an FYI!

I was sort of teasing haha, but also why I said the second sentence. Truly their "logic" is usually that they don't want to be seen as weak by asking for help. I think it's the same "logic" they use to explain why they don't wear sunscreen. Even when there is decades of evidence against the statement "I don't need sunscreen", they still insist on it. Tbh I still think there is no logic, because logic implies proof and evidence etc... Maybe semantics, but reasoning is a better word. And their rea…

I think you're just too close to the example used here ❤ My mom has migraines, she's attempted to get help for them. That is all we can do sometimes. On the contrary, I've heard stories about men literally pissing blood for years and just not telling anyone because...?? ¯_(ツ)_/¯ then dying of a curable illness. Some people don't even have access to many options in health care to help things like migraines. But most sensible people will try everything they can to help better their quality of life…

Lol your problem is trying to find any logic in these men's behavior. I think that it's literally just that they are so conceited they believe they don't need to go to the doctor. That it shows weakness. This is why women live longer.

Mine, too! He also made sure I liked the design beforehand, got it cleaned, planned to have it engraved but the band was too small, and triple checked I would be ok with a used ring (one of the engagements with the ring didn't work out, but I'm not superstitious and I fell in love with it when I saw it). Personally I think the design and the thought behind it is more important than the price. I know TWO men who had their wife pick out a ring, then went behind their backs and made the diamond big…

I feel the exact same way about my partner, actually. He sings while he washes dishes or showers, and I will often pause what I'm listening to or watching to listen to him. It makes me happy to see him so happy. He knows he can't sing, and is insecure about it, but I tell him all the time how much I love his singing. And I truly do. Idk I think some of y'all might be a little harsh here. Sometimes it feels nice to tell an online anonymous space when you can't tell anyone else. And you're allowed…

Happy comment update: the “just communicate” is now one of the bottom comments, and the top comment is the good advice! I hope OP can heal from this. Words cannot express the sadness in my heart for her.

This is an extremely rude generalization. Read some other positive responses to marriage on this thread.

That’s why I mentioned the date. But women could have jobs besides prostitution then, too. The point is that “prostitution is having sex with many men for money” and “marriage is having sex with one man for housing and security”. Which is absolutely true today as well, especially for women in situations like mine where work is not a guarantee. Dworkin saw sex with men as being demeaning to women, which really influenced her opinion here… I will also say that lots of women get married because… th…

I’ve been reading Andrea Dworkin lately, who has a few rather extreme beliefs on sex and marriage. I still find her fascinating, and she has opened my eyes to many important feminist principles. One of my favorite quotes is this (1983): “One of the differences between marriage and prostitution is that in marriage you only have to make a deal with one man. A lot of women prefer marriage to prostitution for that reason. It is safer, a better deal. That is one of the major reasons that right-wing w…

HE FUCKIN’ KNEW. Thank you. He knew what he was doing. He was friends with her for THREE YEARS! Do these men have the capacity for any empathy at all?? The MILES men will go to get a woman comfortable enough around them that they are willing to be alone… the MILES they will go to assault women. That’s why FDS says “if he wanted to, he would”. This man is willing to invest three years of his life curating a friendship with this woman just to use and manipulate her. And your boyfriend won’t take y…

Lol I thought the same thing! But why is the first option to “JuSt TaLk To HiM”??? Why! So you can tell him that “sexually assaulting me in the middle of the night wasn’t cool, I didn’t like it”??? And he would say “oh! I didn’t realize! I thought girls liked that!”??? What good will come from talking to him about it! Sorry I am so angry I want to scream

Dating to get money is bad. But dating to emotionally manipulate your partner into being your therapist and then dumping her when you think you can find someone better is good and wholesome ☺️ 🥰

You’re right. I wouldn’t recommend it to most people, it’s very rare it works out. My situation is unique in the sense that I believe I have found a HVM. Or at least he has grown into one over the years I’ve known him. Judge Lynn Toler on the FDS podcast said her son met a woman at 14 who he’s still with (he’s in his 40s now), so it works for some people.

I feel like we really need to know the ages involved. My fiancé and I have been dating for over 5 years, and he only recently proposed, BUT we were in high-school when we met. I was 16 when we started dating. It would have been weird to me to get engaged when I was 19, so he waited a bit longer. He had the ring for several years now, just waited for us to grow up a bit. However, if I was in my late 20s or above, it would be super weird to date someone for so long. 1-3 years seems to be the magic…

What a great post to wake up to. I have an extreme fear of pregnancy/child birth. My fiancé wants bio kids, but I’m unable to do that for him and it makes me feel terrible. He understands and says he’s ok with it, but I know he’s still struggling with it inside. It gives me a lot of guilt. He does not treat me differently or worse because of it. He has not insisted that I seek therapy to “fix” me, he has not been insistent that I’ll change my mind someday, he has not been badgering me with stori…

Yes!! Lots of the young HVM I know wear simping (to their girlfriends) as a badge of honor. People tease my fiancé and call him a simp and he responds with “hell yeah I am”. I don’t think HVM are put off by the idea of simping, and I don’t think it deters men from being good partners. It seems like it only makes NVM easier to spot.

I mean, you’re right, but I wanted an example to use when talking to others. Most people can’t dismiss men’s problems, and they usually take men’s feelings as priority over a woman’s safety—even if they don’t realize it. Another commenter pointed out my wording in “innocence” as well, thank you both. It’s good to have a reality check.

Your comment reminded me of the “starfish” argument I heard on (here? the podcast?). Thank you for this. Body language is a great example.

Thank you for the lengthy reply, it was very helpful. And you’re right, “innocence is presumed it does not need to be proven”. You’re absolutely right. I can see a dangerous thought process with my initial wording. This is why I come to FDS y’all are so good thank you

Serious question! What would the steps to prove active consent be? My mind (embarrassingly) went to a similar place, and if someone asked me that, I wouldn’t know what to say. I get the idea is just to make it harder for rapists to get away with it, as proving rape is nigh impossible as it is now, but how would a person potentially prove their innocence?

Women: we’re getting murdered in our own homes at an expedited rate. It’s barely even news when a woman gets raped, abused, or murdered anymore unless it’s a celebrity being accused; and when it is a celebrity, people insist that the woman is lying for attention. Over 70% of victims are women. In many cases of violence against women, she gets no justice. The abuser gets to walk free. Men: Nobody pays any attention to US!!! What about the MALE victims, HUH?!? Nobody talks about the MEN anymore. W…
