Definitely don't incriminate yourself in any way in your letter. Yeah I have been told I'm well trained a lot because I love cooking and way better at it than most of my friends / my gf. It is annoying. The assumption is that I definitely couldn't cook because of my own love of the craft or because I like eating tasty things, but I do it to be a good provider. This idea cannot die soon enough. I don't have children, but I would certainly sacrifice my life for my brother or sister in a heartbeat. And it cheapens that sacrifice to make it seem like I did that because it was expected or mandated. Yeah. My friend was an aspiring musician who was also working late night to make ends meet for himself. He had a hard life, was sending $ home to help his mother with cancer. JUST as he starts getting a buzz going, gets a minor record deal, etc, this shit happens. So for him it was like... do you want to live your dreams?
