You're 100% right. Still feeling very depressed over what I did to this poor person, deservedly so.

You know for a fact your girlfriend does not find you attractive? Just physically or in-general? She may be doing what I did, or you may be completely misreading the situation and you don't believe she is attracted to you because of poor self-esteem, etc. I was in a relationship with someone who I felt was way out of my league, and it was hard to think she was satisfied being with me. Of course, by choosing to date me, I was by definition in her league.

Or just saying "I don't want a relationship," but I was weak.

It's a very good question. I believe you can feel completely confident in your identity and who you are as a person outside of dating, and then poor experiences dating can beat-up that identity pretty well. The thing is, when you get on dating apps and are exposed to innumerable women you find attractive and swipe right on, only to get no matches, your identity takes a hit. You are faced with some external feedback that shows, "hey, maybe you're not as great as you think," and you lower your sta…

Not to refute what you're saying, but it's slightly more complicated than that. I was invited to this wedding after <2 months of seeing this girl. I agreed to go, namely because I am trying to be more adventurous and was asked right after sex -- to say no then I felt would have been offensive in a way (dumb I know). Then a couple weeks after she asked me to go, I started explaining that I don't think I am ready for a relationship yet, how I get into this pattern of jumping into a relationship wh…

That's not your responsibility. Your responsibility is to be honest in a gentle-manner if she does confess.

Yea, I understand that side of the situation too. I would 10/10 times take the relatively less attractive person with the awesome chemistry than the dime-piece. Chemistry like what you describe I think is rare.

I hear ya with the social circle, but the thing about them is they are dynamic, so you never know who may enter it. The idea is being in one improves your chances. Moving is what worked for me, but it's more about change and growth in general. I probably didn't need to go far, just out of my parents house would have been fine lol.

I think what got lost a bit here is that my dating life improved tremendously when I moved. When I returned home, living in the room that I grew up -- even though it was temporary -- I feel triggered old habits and feelings of inadequacy, and led to this situation insidiously. So I proved I was attractive to the women I desired when I moved, but sort of had learned-helplessness when it came to dating in the area where I experienced so much hardship romantically. Practical advice is increase soci…

Sure, just as long as you realize that after the initial encounter, if they are uninterested, you won't change their minds and should move one. In general, the mindset should be you are capable of attracting someone you are interested in.

You're right --- what's revealed in the post is the tip of a complex iceberg made of low self-esteem, social anxiety, and poor results with the opposite sex. When I moved I left this mentality behind; when I returned, it was there waiting for me and I picked it up.

I know, but after I said I didn't want to go to the rehearsal dinner, there was no turning back. It was a very early flight. I said when I want to go to a restaurant and eat when we land, but we get to the hotel and her friends say come by the bar. I said I want to eat first, she says why are you being weird, a couple margaritas and shot of tequila on empty stomach later, and, yea, powder keg. I then asked why we need to go to the rehearsal dinner if we are not in the party, she says "stop makin…

It is usually far worse for the other person too, who in hindsight realize they were lied to. So hypothetically assuming I am not a sociopath, what would lead to such sadistic behavior? I wrongly believed that women on dating apps, unless explicitly saying so, are not into FWB -- this couldn't be more wrong, as I learned when I moved. Assuming the "are we a couple?" question happens a few months down the road, if a woman has a few dates with someone she likes, she may be open to FWB when the que…

You're 100% right. I feel terrible about it. Now she has to go through a whole weekend by herself, while all her friends are with their SOs, sleep in the hotel alone, fly back alone, eat alone -- it's beyond words how awful it is. But dating is extremely defeating, and at times you make errors in judgment out of fear and loneliness.

Hmm I think the issue is people like you who can't just let this post be and needs to spout an opinion, as opposed to downvoting and moving on. Let the users and mods decide whether or not it is relevant.

It is seduction advice since it stems from inferiority over one's inability to seduce the opposite sex, and the maladaptive, damaging consequences that can result from settling. In other words, the people who feel dating anyone is better than dating no one are wrong, and it will actually hinder their ability to attract the people they desire.

No. You appear to be choosing women -- albeit subconsciously -- who are emotionally unavailable. Comes back to the classic question: how is your relationship with your parents, namely your mother? Like most of this stuff, this a you thing, a deep down you thing. I'd start to see a professional and explain this pattern: he/she will help you identify why you repeatedly choose women who are not ready for a relationship.

No responses? Bad resume. Also, 30 is not enough and you graduated at a rough time economically. It took me years to level-up career-wise. That said, rework the resume and apply to another 30, repeat.

It's very hard, I am not going to lie. Some days you are going to be walking around the mall, looking at happy couples, and feeling nothing but despair. You feel inept not only socially, but deep down in your biology as a defective animal who in unable to spread his seed. The thing is, however, this will come and go. You can't avoid those feelings, but you can become aware of them and understand their ephemeral nature -- that's a huge part of overcoming accepting any sort of mental anguish. And …

The advice I wish I would have taken at your age is to focus on developing a large social-circle, going to the gym, and studying for a career that matches your innate skills and earns well. The trick with dating apps for men is candid photos in interesting situations, which are hard (though perhaps not impossible) to create without friends. Examples: a picture of you in a suit at a wedding, hiking, drinking at a rooftop bar, rolling face at an EDM festival. No selfies. That said, even if you nai…

If I were to read this post back in my bald-ashamed days, I would have called bullshit. I started thinning at 19 and it really fucked me up, even though it didn't really become noticeable to anyone until I was about 26 or so. I was scared shitless of shaving my head. I'd go out with my friends and they'd say stuff like, "you see all the bald dudes in there? Fuck, that must suck." I had some luck in my 20s but for the most part it was overshadowed by a crippling insecurity over my hair-loss. But …
