You are correct that many states have either already enacted (or are in some phase of enacting) what fall beneath the umbrella of "coercive control" statutes, which expand domestic violence protections to include psychological/emotional/mental trauma (including verbal abuse), but... Many have also argued that the onus in proving these cases are still not entirely figured out. It's extremely difficult to prove cases that focus solely on psychological abuse. Some have argued that these protections…

leave single people alone. This statement made me smile a bit. Like I'm just out nabbing and locking up all the single, child-free men against their will because "all the other single Moms are on the prowl...". 😁 Most of the responses and "irl" dates I'm asked on are from never married, child-free men with a range that mostly spans from 5-7 years younger to my same age. Truthfully, I prefer to date men with kids since there's an "inherent knowledge" about what my lifestyle is like without having…

Yeah, this has zero to do with a mother's marital status and everything to do with her ability to separate herself from her son and not place "partner" needs onto her (adult) child. Sorry to burst your single-mother-hating bubble. 🤷‍♀️

I am a patient advocate (I am a permanently disabled divorced Mom) based in the United States, and about 20% of my cases are on behalf of both EU countries minors and adults considered permanently disabled who are being forced to sterilize. Some have been institutionalized, some are in private homes with family, and some have disabilities that would never preclude them from the experiences of love, family, and becoming a parent themselves if they so choose. Yet, in 2023, up to and including this…

Is it possible hypergamy was such a prevalent concept, historically, because women were not in charge, entirely of their own futures or marriage partners? It was highly common, even until the middle of last century for marriages to be "set up" between two families, even in western culture. I was the bread winner, married to my educator husband, until our special needs child was born and I left work to raise and homeschool him. I don't believe that "marrying down", as defined in OP, is the detrim…

This is an excellent point, and I've been thinking similarly through this whole thread: The fact that, despite it being "so tumultuous" for the average guy in OLD-land...unfortuanetly, it is the collection of offensive behaviors from (gasp!) average guys that can (potentially) cause women to be more guarded, less vulnerable, and unscrupulously selective.

This is the most agreeable response yet 😁

Not always true. I was just reading another thread last night where the OP was going on about how an OLD match suggested she "post a few pics with makeup and a nice dress". She's on there, comfortable in her own skin and it's not "good enough" for that match. What?? I had the joy of growing up the 4th child and only daughter, and my brothers were between 6 and 14 years older than me. I realize the world is larger than these 4 examples, but going through adolescence and puberty with brothers (one…

Lol. Never been. I struggle with neuropathy, so, despite being a South Lake Tahoe native, the cold and I are no longer very good friends. I'd have to order a full heated wardrobe from Amazon. 😁

I read it all, because I am patient and willing to put forth a bit of effort. And I agree. Succinctly 🥰

I personally refuse to date any man that does not have his own personal farmers. Pfft.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
