I remember seeing quotes from bell hooks when I first started learning about feminist theory. She was truly inspiring. May her memory be a blessing.

Thank you for this! I think we all need our inner voices to be as positive and supportive as you are. You’re a self-care Queen 👑

Ooh honey it does. In my early pick me days, I took this kinda nonsense as a challenge. I thought, “if he can love her that much than he can do that for me” and lemme tell you now, that ain’t reality. It ain’t even love he’s giving her, it’s unhealthy obsession.

Not to mention he’s still obsessed if he’s spending money to get personalized checks to “clap back at her” or whatever. That wife is just a placeholder while he seethes over what he lost, and I hope to heck she realizes it sooner than later. PSA: no healthy relationship can hold space for that kind of resentment towards an ex

He was one of the laziest workers… at a chipotle. He was “five years sober” from heroin but AlCoHoL dOeSn’T cOuNt. Told me he wanted to marry me after we talked for two weeks… then when he went to propose to me, he pulled like three ring pops out of his pocket and said “I didn’t know what flavor you’d like” 🤦‍♀️

Yes thank you! He’s doing literally what it takes to survive as a decent person. If that is what you strive for then… you go queen? But I want a man who does more than bare minimum

Three weeks ago and her friend is still trying to find this guy? Honey, MOVE ON. Like you should’ve done when he asked in the first place 💁‍♀️ here’s hoping this connection stays missed - why is she trying so hard to waste her own time??

This is why I don’t even look at most men I see tbh. And when a man tries to yell for my attention, I pretend I can’t hear them - no reaction (including walking faster, remember that a man who’s a predator will take that as a reason to pursue). This lets me put further distance between myself and him while he’s still yelling from “hey sweetie” to “hey b*tch” as he realizes I won’t respond. Hasn’t failed me yet, but of course you want to gauge the risks in any particular situation.

He stole my stuff when we were still TOGETHER. That’s freaking weird. Not sure what he stole specifically because I haven’t noticed anything missing, and there is no way I’d want it back now. all I can picture is, like, semen all over my pictures and him having written on my poems to make them about him (any poems he stole were written years before I met him). Whatever purpose they served him seems like it’d be gross.

If he ends up in my state I will. Or if he contacts me again frankly. He was trying to lure me to our old apartment to “collect my poems and photos” by saying he wouldn’t even be there. I don’t believe a word from his dumb mouth so I’m never going to that neighborhood, let alone that apartment, again.

Lol they’re totally imagining us wallowing in sadness, wishing we’d be together again, for an whole damn year. In reality I blocked him, moved, and moved on. Currently in college for the first time in 7 years, with a 4.0 GPA. He’s not even worth being a memory to me now - I have much better places I’m going

Oh yeah, I was (and still kind of am) too. I moved states and my current address isn’t public, so if he shows up around here I’ll know it’s on purpose. I think the worst part about the digging-in-the-desert is that he seems to have genuinely thought that would work?? All I could picture was how many people have been buried in the American southwest and never found. Not a romantic situation.

The people (men and PickMe’s both) who advocate this are the same people who are walking red flags but want to have relationship benefits anyway. No one in their right mind would ever say you should hook up with the person “with more red flags than a matador”. I am actually disgusted because there are teens out here who will see this and assume they should do it. Kids are surprisingly malleable on the internet and it’s terrifying. They assume the adults spewing this nonsense know better and that…

Unless a man immediately follows the phrase “I was just about to do that” with actually DOING the thing in question, he was never going to. Whether it’s chores or anything else. He was just hoping to ignore it until it became your problem instead.

I bet he doesn’t have a ring, no plan for how he’d do it, and only said this because he wants pity for how his future has been “stolen”. Source? Have dumped multiple men for not committing only to have them pull out “but I was gonna get you a ring I swear” and other variations

Yeah when women can voluntarily put their husbands into an asylum so they can be lobotomized, given electro-shock therapy, or forcefully have their reproductive organs removed, then I’ll believe misandry is a threat. When we put the worth of our sons down to their virginity, I’ll believe it. When we sell our sons for two cows as a dowry, I’ll believe it. But I swear to god, not until then. Until then I’ll be a proud as hell misandrist if that means I’m just speaking out against weak assholes who…

Men are the fucking WORST when it comes to body shaming... I dated a guy who constantly talked about how small my breasts were - meanwhile he was 125 lbs soaking wet, literally no muscle tone, and routinely got mistaken for being homeless due to his poor hygiene

Yes!! You have to make peace with spending the rest of your life with only yourself, because it’s the only outcome guaranteed. Of course HVM exist but we don’t exist just to find them; we are complete, badass women inside OR outside of a relationship. Even though I’m dating, I don’t hold all my stakes to that man. If he proves he’s what I deserve then yay, but if he doesn’t I know I’ll be better than just okay. It’s truly empowering to know that you can be your own happy ending.

I don’t even care how much of a b*tch it makes me, I’ll never again in my life mess around with an addict. I know myself and my needs, and addicts are way too selfish. I dated an addict who claimed he was 5 years sober (off h). Lo and behold he would drink a fifth of vodka nightly and claimed it didn’t count against his sobriety. He also expected me to be his bang-mommy and pay for anything he wanted... fat freaking chance bud. Never feel bad for any of your own personal limits. Addicts are need…

I’ve seen my fair share of subpar men, haha. It’s the fake self-aware ones that are some of the worst - they pat themselves on the back for being awful people just because they know they are, and have no intention of changing that. If you’re letting him contact you it’s honestly easier and better for all involved to block and delete. He’ll try to suck sympathy from you until he can’t. Odds are he doesn’t really want to heal, he wants to be coddled and babied by a mother/girlfriend hybrid.

With men it’s not taking accountability so much as telling on themselves and hoping they’ll get sympathy points. And while I’m sure there’s men who make therapy an actual benefit, I’ve seen multiple men who went to multiple sessions a week to no effect. PickMe therapists are great at coddling these guys, and the men have the bonus of getting to pretend they’re working on their issues.

I glanced at your previous post mentioning how he’s adopted, yeah? Idk if it’s an overarching trend but I’ve learned that if a man bases his identity on how he’s adopted, or how his parents abused him, etc then he’s going to use it not only as an excuse to never commit but also to abuse you because his “poor trauma addled man brain” literally prevents him from caring about anything except himself
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy08/04/21 05:44 PM

There’s a nuance between what FDS means for casual dating and what a lot of the newcomers seem to see it as. FDS is about making sure to stay casual emotionally and sexually by not taking steps toward commitment until he’s shown to be worth is. It seems like some newcomers are looking at it like an excuse to keep dating LVM because it’s only “casual”.

YES. If a man is setting off any alarms, like idk you feel unsafe going out to dinner with him, then you should’ve already blocked him and moved on. I totally understand the anxiety of it but if you take your own car and have a planned exit strategy, then a dinner date in public ought to be fine.

Right? If someone told me that I’d be thinking, “if I’m going to hell anyway might as well make sure his ass does too” not “oh okay I’ll suffer in silence” He also didn’t work, pay bills, or cook/clean. Literal waste of space.

Oh yeah. I can’t even say I’d necessarily be smart about revenge, I would be seeing red. Tbh I made this post because, after listening to the latest podcast (the infamous article coverage) I felt like I had to tell my story. There’s reasons we don’t play therapist, and there’s reasons we don’t accept porn use. Any man or PickMe who wants to say otherwise is free to do it themselves I guess but we know better.

Point #1 for why we never eff with porn: it’s putting not just our safety but the future safety of our children at risk of perverts

We gotta listen to ourselves more! Even when it’s dumb. I had a dream when I first started dating my ex, where he literally didn’t have the back part of his brain (like, his head looked deformed) and I thought it was weird and dumb. But it was my brain telling me, “yo this guy is dumb AND crazy, gtfo now”

I’m way better, and thanks to FDS staunchly against that kind of work. I used to look back at it and think “that was the best money I made” but I realized how much I had to hate myself to let that happen to me. My father was a p*rn addict so I know firsthand how much it harms, and I took a while reconciling that with my own adult experience.

When I was 18 my friend told my she had a job I could get, it ended up being sex work (though in the interview they stressed the opposite naturally). By the time I found out it was hard for me to care, because I had a “troubled childhood” (aka a story for another time). As a queer woman I never felt empowered. More than anything I saw men take my queerness as an excuse to push my boundaries, or to demand W/W acts between me and random coworkers. Men are gross and sex work is traumatic. I could w…

🤢🤢🤢How can there be almost 40k members for a sub that describes itself as women “opening their [genitals]”... nasty. Nasty nasty nasty. I don’t even want to think about how many of the posts on that sub are revenge p*rn posted by bitter men. Edit to specify that it’s women being fetishized specifically on that sub, not that it’s any surprise. I still think their description is gross enough that I’m not typing it out myself.

NOTE: I have no personal judgment on the man in this post and his perspective. He honestly seems to be pretty aware of his issues, and not outwardly hateful. But this still isn’t a healthy mindset for being in a relationship! Any person, man or woman, who feels so insecure at the thought of being in a relationship, shouldn’t be in one. He could do so well if he got a proper therapist to help work through this mentality. Remember ladies, we don’t do free therapy work for anyone

If you’ll spend $50 on a paper bag just to manipulate your girlfriend’s feelings and call it a “prank” or whatever, then why not spend the $50 on something she would want? Or at least on an uber so you can just leave her life altogether?

Wtf kind of an argument is that?? “Oh it’s okay babe... just as you’re violated and objectified, so are all other women”. Not to mention how he angled it to make it seem as if women are a man’s property and deserve to be punished for a man’s actions.

Had a guy pull a chair out from under me in front of half a dozen friends. I fell flat on my ass on tile, with one arm in a cast because it was broken, and every guy there just watched. The guy who did it was mad that I wouldn’t date him... so there’s a good reason to never be friends with a guy who was/is interested. And when I asked my friends why no one called him out, one of them said “well he’s huge and I wouldn’t want to fight him”.

That’s awful! He was the same way. One time his kids showed up at their grandparents house (his parents) having only eaten potato chips off the floor for the last two days - which we learned from the 5 yo girl, not even their deadbeat dad.

I was at my friend’s house in 2019 and her brother spent the night there with his two kids (5 and 1). I woke up that morning to the 1yo screaming her head off, because her dad had left her covered entirely (as in, it soaked up into her whole onesie as well) in shit. He wasn’t even home. He had left hours before, without telling anyone to keep an eye on his children. I guess he assumed that with two women in the house it just wasn’t his problem.

Honestly it’s a lot of self-work, and reading the experiences shared here helps me a lot - some of my habits were so ingrained that I had to seriously think about why I was into it. If you ever want to talk personally, you can always message me. We’re in this together, and we can always grow past our pain.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy26/09/20 01:06 AM

As someone who was “into” this during their kinkmeisha stage... it’s a lot of shame and pain that’s hard to understand until you start unpacking the why of it. Once I realized that I was just neglecting my own power and mental health (essentially re-victimizing myself and allowing any male I was with to abuse me the way my father had), it became an instant turn-off. It should in no way be normalized. What should be normalized is men taking accountability for what they do to their daughters.

I appreciate the apology but you are right in that I have a ways to go in my journey. It took me until this summer to actually realize how my behavior attracted LVM, and what I can do to not engage in it. Because of this and, more so, my daughter, dating isn’t even a priority to me at the moment. I’ve had to teach myself how to be not just a woman, but a strong and healthy one - and I’m not exaggerating, my mom never taught me to do basic things like take care of my thick, curly hair, or how to …
