Yeah, shooting mechanic is something they would need to figure out. But they did it in Napoleon (didn't try that one myself but there's precedent for it) so confident they could find a good way to mesh the ranged mechanic with melee combat. I think latest projections/studies put population maxing out around 9-10 billion (some at 12 billion but are now being revised down) before it will start declining. The cause is fast food norms exported from US into the rest of the world. Just look at Asia, prior to being westernized fat people used to be a dime a dozen. Now obesity epidemic everywhere.
