In my town, the dance studio accepts couples and singles. I went a few times. The instructor shows the men their steps (like line dancing) then the women and then everyone practices with a partner, then everyone switches partners until all the men have danced with all the women. If there is an extra single then the instructor steps in as a match. It was a little awkward dancing with a bunch of strangers but it gave me experience with multiple partners and it was a beginner class so everyone was …

Our consumer society loves weddings because it's a spending spree that can cost thousands. I have never felt a strong need to "feel like a princess for my special day." I don't watch a ton of TV shows but I notice that every series I have followed which had an engagement and marriage ALWAYS had at LEAST one episode where the bride-to-be would light up when talking about how she's been looking forward to her wedding day ever since she was a little girl! Not to mention all the TV shows about weddi…

I'm reading The Gift of Fear by Gavin de Becker and I found this section enlightening to understand all hurtful behavior With behavior, as with gravity, context will govern, but there are some broad strokes that can be fairly applied to most of us: We seek connection with others. We are saddened by loss and try to avoid it. We dislike rejection. We like recognition and attention. We will do more to avoid pain than we will to seek pleasure. We care what others think of us. We seek a degree of con…

I've been married for 18 years and my STBXH has been coercing me for sodomy for years. He's always watched porn and I think the last six months it developed into an addiction, or at least he was porn sick because his entire attitude towards me and sex got worse. He accused me of not loving him and not being in the mood and threatening to leave me. But when I asked him if he wanted to have sex, he told me no or had ED. When I told him I want a divorce because he was too controlling, demanding, an…

Lust and porn are 2 different things. Lust is a feeling and watching porn is an action. You should be able to find a man that knows how not to conflate these 2 very different things.

Gah, most late-term abortions are normally done because of the risk to the life or health of the mother or because the fetus has a severe medical condition. Those women very much want to have a baby but it is physically safer for her to have an abortion. But, I totally agree that a man's actions towards you will convey his values about women and children.

I'm not a fan of suspense films so I did not ever consider watching the movie but reading this comment makes me reconsider. I had no idea the film was broader than poor guy accused of murdering his wife. I had also heard it was based on a book about some crazy lady who frames her husband and they are both bad people.

I own the 2016 Loving film. It is a beautiful portrayal of the quiet way he loved his wife. Much better than the rom-com garbage of fancy speeches.

This was a great read. I am keeping this New, empowering beliefs may include: I can be my own separate self and be lovable. I can tolerate people not understanding me. I am safe even when people don’t like me.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
