This is almost aesthetic. It's horrible, but well done.

I would maybe agree? I'm going to be a doctor. I do not give a shit if a dude makes a million dollars or 30k. I want someone who's kind and fun and laid back. An extra hundred thousand dollars of income wouldn't be that meaningful to me when I'm already going to be perfectly comfortable on my own. It certainly won't make up for a dude who's an asshole. I have no reason to put up with asaholes for money.

Would you prefer an overly broad brush stroke that tries to make a claim but doesn't really hold up outside of PPD?

God no. I'm 25 now. I love my boyfriend, he's fabulous. No one before him has as much in common with me, or was as much fun in bed. Younger me had decent taste, but no one super compatible with me.

No dude, children are obviously shared responsibility. Of course I want emotional support ( and to be emotionally supportive!). And if I had kids, I would want physical support with those kids. There's a zero percent chance I'll be a stay at home parent, if my partner would want to stay at home then that would be awesome. If they didn't (which I would understand), then they would have to split half the work because that's how partnership works. I don't see it being an issue, honestly. I think mo…

Yes and it's the shittiest. Virgin shaming men is the worst. Also small dick shaming, I feel it's similar.

I'll be honest, they were all fabulous humans. The ones I dated when I was younger were more immature than the ones I'm dating now (logically, given they were younger), but for their age, they've all been goddamn champs. Some of them didn't work out because life happens, but the one I'm with now is pretty nice. I'm not looking to change any time soon.

Being a housewife is a job that's easy to do mediocrely, and so so hard to do well, at least with kids. I'm a great employee, I would be a terrible, terrible housewife.

I'm with you, but that one is so tough. What's the line between a fight and emotional abuse. Or an asshole and emotional abuse. Physical abuse is so easy (not to catch, but to define). I'm of the opinion that making it easier for survivors (of any kind of abuse) to leave is the solution. That way we don't have to figure out what is and isn't emotional abuse, just trust the survivor to spot it.

I truly don't think that will ever make it through any sort of lawmaking body. Not do I think it ever should. Any other suggestions that are more plausible.

I . . . don't think this is a good idea. What about people with disabilities, young children? Shitty humans who like to hit smaller people for no reason? What do you think would be a more reasonable solution? What's a solution that could actually get through to society? I think education is always the right way to start, but maybe you disagree?

I'm with you on shitty laws, but I do want to point out that in most cities, men are more likely to suffer from substance abuse and are more likely to be homeless. I don't think men are as likely to be homeless due to domestic violence, but they are more likely to be chronically homeless.

If you're referring to women being more likely to get away with physical abuse, I think you're right, and it is an issue. Men are less likely to recognize, report, and win court cases for physical abuse. What do you think is a good step to fix it?

I mean, things worth having take work. I'm in a pretty fabulous relationship, I like it. But yeah, it takes work. Honestly though, the work involved just makes me like me more. But if you don't want to put in the work, then don't. No one's going to be mad you don't want a relationship.

Okay, I'm with you on taking on the absurd double standard, but I don't think I agree with you that if you want casual sex you're some sort of degenerate. If you want casual sex, that's cool, don't shit on the opposite gender to make yourself feel better about something you don't need to feel bad about anyway. And if you don't want casual sex, that's okay too! Settle down into a relationship and hope to god your partner feels the same way. Either way, regardless of what your gender is, you've do…

I think what u/Mayhzon was trying to say, albeit a little brusquely, is that human beings in general are biologically inclined to survive and reproduce (why the human race exists). However, we're people who can think about our thinking. You're right, we don't just mindlessly have babies and babies and babies. But the default setting for people (men and women!) is reproducing. (This is from a woman who also doesn't want kids)

My current relationship started with wildly misaligned expectations. I thought we were in it for sex, he thought we were in it for a Real Relationship. At the end of our third date (that I arranged for evening, at a bar, where we did lots of touching), I asked him whether he wanted to go to his place or mine. He was totally unprepared, completely shut me down. We continued to not have sex for THREE more dates, I was at my wits end. I just about ended it with him, but he was fun and sweet, and he…

Yes, at an individual level, you need individual effort. But if your looking at a system that shows a change across an entire country, you have to look a little deeper than "willpower". Meaningful change in a national health crisis probably won't happen by yelling at people to not be the only way they know how to be.

I'll probably end up making more than my boyfriend (maybe, depending on his trajectory and my specialty), but he's said before he's totally fine with staying home if we decide we want kids. Now granted, we're not looking that in the eye yet, but I honestly think he would prefer it. However, I also think he thinks being a stay at home parent is an easy job.

My boyfriend always kept his back hair trimmed with a shaver. I eventually convinced him I truly didn't care, but if he had a spot he couldn't quite reach, he'd ask a buddy to help. Back hair, personally isn't a big deal to me, but people's mileage vary.

Even these are a little sketchy, but they're a better starting point. Interestingly, it does agree with the RP take on clingy. Clingy doesn't get relationships, and neither does avoidant. But trying to explain what healthy is still hard.

Okay homie, my boyfriend and my roommate are both hardcore sports fanatics. They love chatting sports whenever they're both together, like a lot of dudes. Now, does that mean that I can't make an emotional connection with either of them? No, of course not, they're both great. I mean, married men with wives who would really like to have sex again for once can and do have porn addictions. Personally, I think you could be right, it's a way for sexual people who aren't getting laid to enjoy themselves, but it's also kinda taboo and shameful, and nothing turns people on like doing the thing they're not supposed to.

Um, I enjoy having sex? It's a good time. Right now I'm with a guy that's pretty fabulous and prefers monogamy (I'm working on him though!) and I'm insanely busy, so slutting isn't happening. I'm not actually sure what you mean by "like a man". I like variety, I don't know how the data breaks down per gender regarding variety.

There will always be a sect of the population (yes, in real life, not just on the internet) that wants to have both. It seems to me that everyone individually should try to take a goddamn logical approach to the whole affair and ignore slutshamers and golddiggers and any other irrational population. The majority of the population knows it's wrong to gold dig. They also know it's wrong to slut shame. Be a part of the rational majority. I have a relatively low N-count, but I'm the furthest thing from tradcon. If I had the time/weren't in a monogamous relationship, I would absolutely slut it up. I'm assuming you would also not be interested in women like me. So, what you're looking for (if I'm understanding correctly, correct me if I'm wrong), is a sex positive woman who hasn't had much sex? This just seems like the wrong section of the Venn diagram to target. Also, yes, golddiggers AND fuckbois are of course wrong. People in a …

While I'm going to knock you for countering an anecdote with an anecdote (neither of us have said anything useful, honestly), I do think that given the age differences between men and women dating, data suggests there probably are more men financially helping women.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/12/19 02:45 PM
2

Again anecdotal example, but I was paying for most things, (all dinners out/groceries and some rent/utility bills) while he was taking the bar and not working. It didn't bother me. He was improving himself and I wanted to support him. Now that I'm back in school, he's paying for more things. He's thinking about going back for a master's at some point, if that happens, I'll financially have his back. Support your human.

I mean, the issue is only getting more equal for marriage. Women are slowly making more and more money. Assuming I don't fail out of med school (which I probably will if I don't get off this damn subreddit), I'm almost certainly going to make more than the vast majority of men. Even among higher earners, I'm likely going to make at least what they make. Divorce would hurt like a bitch. So me, men and women everywhere, HOLLA WE WANT PRENUPS.

My dad is a mechanic and I can tell you that doing basic repairs isn't anything super challenging. Anyone can change oil/sparkplugs/tires. My boyfriend's dad is an insurance inspector, and I had to teach him how to *check* his oil. I think it's just experience, most women aren't exposed to basic repairs. And if I had to choose between doing laundry and dishes for the rest of my life or occasionally doing minor repairs, dude, it's not a hard call. Unfortunately I got both haha.

I agree. Mutual vulnerability is good, that helps a relationship. Vomit-dumping your problems on a partner is bad. That hurts the relationship. The deepness of your relationship correlates with the level of bad shit you can tell her. Don't tell enough, and you're being closed off, tell too much, and you're uncomfortable to be around. It's a tough line to toe, even longtime socially adept people get it wrong sometimes, don't feel bad, OP

Yeah, I think there would be some mandatory group time. I can hang out with exes alone now, but I don't think I would be comfortable with that situation right after breakup. There are too many ingrained sex habits.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/04/17 05:49 AM

Perhaps my experience has been biased by the fact they moved on to new relationships pretty soon after a suitable refractory period.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/04/17 05:32 AM

Perhaps, we're both working with small samples here. If it was a tough breakup, then I would also suspect that at least one party is trying to get laid. I usually don't have advances made on me by exes, but again, small sample.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/04/17 05:11 AM
3

I imagine it would depend on the nature of the relationship. It could be an flag for future cheating, but it could also be an indicator of maturity. The ex that I'm friends with handled our breakup so gracefully our friendship was mostly unharmed. We don't see each other without pants anymore, but we didn't waste the year we spent strengthening our friendship.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/04/17 05:03 AM

Awkward, I have a ton of close male friends, and I'm still close friends with an ex. I only disrespect personal space when I'm drunk though, so I guess I'm only 2/3 slut?

I'm voting on weird corner of the internet. I know I personally have two understandings of attractiveness. Whenever I'm judging a guy's attractiveness, I can usually tell if he's a.) attractive to me and b.) attractive to everyone else. These two are rarely the same. However, how dare you ask your close acquaintances for attractiveness ratings when there is a giant body of literature about it. Do the researchs, OP, I believe.

I will overlook "empiricism is mostly only marginally useful for figuring out people" because just no. Hi! I think that's a fantastic rebuttal; self handicapping and post-event blaming are subtly different constructs. So I did some more research. It is true that women tend to make external attributions for their own failures. But that's only like a fourth of the story. As you could expect from women's lack of respect for self-handicapping behavior, they value effort, so they're more likely to make an attribution to lack of ability (to not feel like shit about themselves). This makes women feel be…

Aight, I am a hardcore empiricist at heart, and no offense, OP, but your post hurts. This is vitriol, not information. Men are actually more likely to avoid blame. Here's a study about self-handicapping ( a form of avoiding blame and failure) that one of my peers is utilizing for his research. Sorry if you hit a paywall, you should be able to at least access the abstract. The bottom line of the study is that women are less likely to resort to self-handicapping when confronted with the possibilit…

I think it's less of a conscious decision as it is a sense of discomfort when I'm too forward. And I can shoot outside my league too. If I go after some guy who's clearly more attractive and charismatic than I am, then it's going to be awkward for both of us, throwing in the weird reversal of gender roles and it's really no fun.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/04/17 11:49 AM

Honestly, I think that the current environment has made it easier for me to make moves as a woman. I still feel awkward making the first move, but I think that society is becoming more okay with it. I think my mom would feel like a whore if she chatted a guy up in a bar, but I don't feel like I'm going to be judged too hard if I ask for a guy's number. So personally, I think I enjoy it more. And safety, I like that shit.

Yeah, piggybacking off of /u/GinSmokeLies, if I could score Prince Fielder from the Texas Rangers, I would in a heartbeat. Yes, I think that if you wear nicer clothes, focus on your appearance, and learn to playfully engage with your mate, you will have better, longer lasting relationships. Short answer: yes. Long answer: only if the confidence is paired with social adeptness. If he's cocky and overbearing and clearly making himself out to be more of a catch than he is, then no. But if he just isn't a pile of insecure goo because he doesn't have a lot going for him, there's no shame, and a lot of attractiveness in that.

I think a part of the body positivity movement is honestly misguided. I think the idea is that appearance is one of the most important things society values in women, so instead of chilling out about attractiveness, we're being more accepting of different body types (but still over-valuing attractiveness). But honestly, yes, there should be more short male models, and balding models and models that actually have a measurable body fat percentage. Models that look like regular mortals would be goo…

Man, that's a whole different discussion. This is about if individual men or women are exploiting other individual men or women by offering to pay or be paid for sexual services. Whether or not "men are getting it at home" or not is a whole different (though no less important) topic.

I want to reiterate that I don't see anything wrong with men who go to prostitutes or women who are prostitutes, or any sort of gender reversal or combination thereof. Gnometard responded to one part of my argument, and I was trying to represent one side of the conversation (I think there are two very valid sides). You realize that sex with almost all people doesn't change the shape or size of the vagina that much, right? Women have CHILDREN through that hole, a penis isn't going to change it that much. Also, the average penis size is below six inches, chances are, even if you're seeing a woman with lots of partners, she's probably seen a lot of <6 inch penis. Also, women date based on things other than your penis size, chances are, you've probably been selected for or against before you ever take your pan…

Prostitution of women is rape. That's a damn strong statement. There are women who make a very respectable living off of prostitution. Banning all prostitution and all pornography involving women (if you want to ban porn, why not ban both genders?) will do nothing. They will still exist, just slightly more under the table. There is no (currently apparent) way to get rid of porn or prostitution. Wouldn't it make more sense to protect women (and to a lesser statistical degree) by legitimizing thei…

The army is shrinking, but that doesn't mean that it's not robustly recruiting. If the army couldn't recruit to fill its spaces, that would be one problem, but shrinking an already giant military does not mean that we can't fill the slots, it means that we've decided that we have too many slots. This does not indicate weakness in the army, and I really don't think that it indicates imminent gender war.

I apologize for my use of hyperbole. I doubt anyone has the sex drive of a 16 year -old boy, not even an 20 year-old boy. As far as the sex/masturbation business, that's a very personal question there, sir, but online anonymity, so aight. At least once, maybe twice a day if I have time. A lot of feminists are working on it, protecting sex trade workers is a win win. People get jobs, clients get sex, and hookers don't end up buried in people's basements. As far as sex being a basic human need, there are hordes of religious clergy that believe in and practice celibacy. Clearly something is going on there. I'm definitely not saying that being a nun/priest is for everyone, I'm just saying you can survive just fine without it. I can make the same argument for romantic relationships,…

They want society to provide equal pay for women, they should want society to provide equal sex for men. The reason we want equal pay is because we do equal work, as in we provide exactly the same value, but get paid less because we don't have y chromosomes. Sex is different than a job, it's a mutually affirming social and physical interaction. It's governed by different social norms. I don't think you can ask a bunch of random women to go have random sex with random men. That's sketchy. Not to mention, pity sex isn't going to solve any underlying issues.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/09/15 03:57 AM

Okay, what do you want feminists to do?? And I think you can argue against sex being a basic human need. Yeah, but it's not about "entitlement". Of course a husband can legally allow his wife to be raped (if he doesn't have a part of it), it's perfectly legal. That doesn't make it morally or ethically correct. If I'm married to some guy, and I just let him get raped, I probably shouldn't be married to him.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/09/15 10:40 PM

That's going to be different for each relationship. Friendship and emotional support are a given in pretty much every relationship, but besides those, what kind of transaction goes down is up to the pair. For my hypothetical, inchoate, as yet unidentified husband, he'll probably get friendship, emotional support, sex, and cash. What your relationships should look like is possibly a completely different story. There is no "general rule". If I knowingly marry an asexual man, then I can't count sex…

And does a man have to continually "earn" sex? Can a husband therefore say to a wife "if I have to continually earn sex; then you must continually earn my time, labor and resources"? If a marriage has descended this far, then it's not super marriage-y anymore.

So, from your response, it's clear that marriage is now nothing more than an economic arrangement for the pooling of resources for the benefit of the parties. How sterile. How sad. I've never been married, but I was in a relationship with a guy who didn't have anything approaching my sex drive, was he obligated to provide me with sex when I paid for dinner? I don't think so. What two people owe each other is what they decide they owe each other. I'm working my way into being in the top echelon of upper middle class earners, and I have a giant sex drive that I honestly don't expect to get satisfied (unless there's some very horny guy in my part of the country, in which case…

Is TRP immune to criticsm? This is a great question. I do think that the mods of TRP have run quite a tight ship, which is of course their prerogative, but that doesn't mean that they can't be criticized elsewhere. Like /u/trp_zzz said This kind of shit would get you banned in TRP so fast your empty head would spin. I'm not sure that's a good thing. The tight modding might have played a role in generating quite the angry echo chamber.

It's honestly not even about the cis white men themselves. Oddly enough, they're not the ones being generalized. It's more about the way that other people treat cis white males. Being cis and white and male doesn't make you evil or anything, it just makes it easier to get hired (and other stuff) because other people see you as fulfilling a certain positive stereotype. Obviously, there are other factors that affect your privilege: socioeconomic status, attractiveness, family connections, etc. But…

I think that women might be judged if I did that. I don't go topless because I don't think that people would take it kindly. People would judge hard.

Perhaps you have more experience with nude beaches than I? I don't think there's an observed phenomenon of "the fat ones" driving away "the pretty ones" out of spite.

Women that don't eat a lot and are keeping up with men on the move probably didn't have giant breasts.

Most of the population isn't a Victoria's Secret Angel, it would make sense that most people on nude beaches don't look absolutely ravishing. Statistics and all.

I'm not sure you can make that assumption. On what grounds do you think that protesting women going topless is definitely attention whoring and not a valid protest about social and legal limits of female toplessness? Even if you don't agree with their views, what makes you think they're just going for attention? Do you have any logic to back that up?

Okay, I'm lost. She says that leagues exist. No issue with that. She said that women spend more time on their appearance, also true, no issue there. She also says that women get paid more and work harder, that's a little on the sketchy side, since calculating the wage gap is surprisingly difficult, but if they do make more, I still fail to see how that's misandric if it's a fact. I suppose you could look for affirmative action for men, if that's your issue there, but industry hiring practices ma…

Touche! It's really not hivemind though, Freudian psychology really just doesn't present a lot of disprovable hypotheses, and if you can't disprove it, then it's not all that useful. Hell, Freud doesn't really present a lot of hypotheses that have any real kind of support. He was an important figure in psychology, and I don't blame him, he just got some stuff wrong. I respectfully disagree. I don't think that there is any single person on earth who doesn't do at least one compliment-able thing each day. Giving daily compliments is a hassle, but it would show that you aren't taking that person for granted. It's okay to show love.

Individual TRP members might not have a problem with it, and there might not be an objection to it in the theory, but I think we both know what would happen if that were copied and pasted into a comment and left to stand on its own with no qualifiers.

I'm only going by what I see on your subreddit guys. For the love! It's a subreddit devoted to circlejerking! What are you expecting??? Numero uno, yep, we likey the way certain people look. We love symmetrical faces, and a specific ratio of body parts (This is why even 300 pound women look better when they're hourglassy, or 300 pound men looking better with big shoulders). People tend to pair off in relationships based on SES and attractiveness. That being said, subjectivity does matter, because testing attraction in the real world is hard. Scientists will almost always claim this in their discussion sections. Trying to break d…

I repeat, these comments are absolutely ridiculous. Men, if you are reading this, do not believe women are actually attracted to this guy. I am serious. Do not believe them. Oh honestly. This tone of zombie apocalypse despair might be over the top. Yes, my lab does studies about facial evaluations, beauty isn't significantly subjective. I don't think that everyone has money to spend on therapy sessions, but those who can, if they need it, should go. I don't actually think that everyone I disagree with should go to therapy, I don't see therapy as some sort of homogenizing agent that makes everyone like me. There are lots of red pillers on PPD that I don't think need therapy, they seem to be doing just fine. A therapist's job isn't to change every worldview of the client. Well, no, because I am not really red pill. I've said that I disagree with the slut-hating family-values portion of it, and you may have noticed that I am a feminist. You know what, you're right, it is sad. It's really sad. However, the sub itself and the language and the posts it makes are funny. This is humor, sometimes we make holocaust jokes. Do you think TRP is "emotionally driven"? Well yeah, for all the logical bravado, ya'all is some angry mofos. But I get it, finding a mate is important to people. I kinda assume that anyone seriously considering TRP is going to go red anyway. Honestly, this strikes me as a really good argument. We can discuss here why TRP is very flawed, but if you're into that absolute truth kind of thing, there aren't a lot of places you can get it in modern culture. You can go the religion route, or the underground subculture route. Either way, it's hard to argue with someone searching for absolute truth. I don't offer it, I'm not going to start offering it. It does to some guys, other guys don't care. Partners tend to be happiest when they have comparable counts. If a woman is dating a guy and she's slept with thirty guys and he's slept with three women, they're probably not going to be on the same page. Reverse the roles, it's still the same.

White women (and white men) raised in ethnically diverse areas are much more likely to engage in intimate relationships with people of other ethnicities. Now, it's almost always true that people of all races/ethnicities default date from within their own group, but the more exposure one has to other groups, the more the in group/out group effects are mitigated.

Women that are raised around minorities don't feel as uncomfortable around minorities. It's not so much racism or anything, they just feel more comfortable around white people because it's what they're used to. In group/out group effects are mitigated by exposure to outgroup members.

Those are really serious issues though, and they definitely shouldn't be downplayed. I hate it when gender equality is represented as a zero sum game (which I don't think that you specifically are doing), if one gender is suffering, that doesn't invalidate the other gender's suffering. Inequality is not a game that you can win by suffering more. They're both important. Systematically differential access to resources and lawful regard is a problem. End of gender neutral sentence.

I honestly think that this happens for women in the 5-20 N count range. The slut stud dichotomy definitely makes women feel pressured to lie about their counts (but still be great in bed!), just as it pushes men to inflate their count (and also be great in bed). This gender norm is such an issue as it disincentivizes communication between sexual partners. I'm of two minds. In a situation without kids, infidelity is a way crappier thing to do as a human being, but divorce is a more permanent, unfix-able problem. That's because women overall tend to have a warped view of what a "healthy relationship" looks like. Most women view a "healthy relationship" is one where a woman never compromises and a man always does. Just look to r-relationships to see evidence of this. I don't know, I like hearing about interesting workplaces. Now if you're a middle manager in a corporate law office, that might not be super interesting. I think this might depend more on the insecurities of the people involved. If you have a two posturers that need to be seen as professionally dominant, and feel threatened when that imaginary dominance is threatened, then yeah, that could get pretty uncomfortable. But if you have two adults chatting about their jobs, I think it has a lot of pot…

Hmm, interesting list. It doesn't seem like you're looking for a relationship partner though. This honestly seems like a more employer/employee relationship. But you already knew that, you controversial fellow, you. So I'm going to ask you a different question. What do you think the average woman is looking for in an ideal relationship man? What day-to-day behaviors do you think are attractive to a woman in a relationship?

--do not talk about your job. --do not talk about how good you are at your job. --do not talk about how much money you earn Okay, the last two are just bad manners. But not talking about your job? That thing that takes up most of your waking hours? That seems unreasonable. Also, and this is just me, but I like a man who can compete with me. That's definitely not first date type stuff though. edit: formatting.

No, I totally agree with you. Gender norms suck. I just don't think that the opinions of one woman (me) have ever been enough to convince them that I'm not socially pressuring them to pay for me. This is what happens (I think), when you have this all-powerful man/weak-and-irrational woman complex built into the fabric of our gender relationships. Feminism! Yay! you know which definition of feminism I'm using, shitlords and shitladies

Well, I should put out the disclaimer that I'm semi obnoxious about paying for my half. I've been that person making the waiter feel awkward (sorry waiters!) as my SO and I argue out the check. However, most of the guys I've dated have been pretty hardcore about wanting to pay. I worked out a really convoluted compromise with one boyfriend that he got to pay on all "real" dates, but that we alternated paying for other meals. We actually did this thing since we were both so intent on paying, that…

I mean, I'm sure that there are women out there who actually don't care if a guy is actually shy and actually socially inept. But there can't be very many of those women. I think that socially inept people are much more forgiving of other people's social ineptness, but again, the majority of the population is socially average.

I would choose those terms to describe the bluepill you describe. I think that there are women that don't care if a man is shy and socially inept, but most men and women aren't shy and socially inept, and they don't want mates that are. And there are definitely women that are saving themselves for marriage (I know one), but I don't think that you're going to meet a bunch of them out on the town. I don't think I'm getting too semantic about the use of hardwired. Group preferences biases are absolutely documented (could you tell me what "the WAWA" is? While subatomic particles are indeed complex, a subatomic particle is approaching infinitely simpler than a woman (especially given, you know, a woman is composed of subatomic particles), I think even a theoretical physicist would agree. women respond with answers based on their personal experience (as you did elsewhere in this thread) as opposed to considering the aggregated statistics, and will in fact choose their personal experience when it disagrees with said statistics That's what people do. I certainly can! Evolutionary psychology and sociobiology definitely have their places, please don't get me wrong. There are scientists doing really interesting work with them. I really don't understand this either. I'm work in a social neuro lab, and if anything, women are more empathetic. I'm a confused about how evo psych (the redheaded kid huffing glue at the crafts table of science, no offense guys), with all its just-so stories can boot out data being taken now. Um, sir, pardon me, but you seem to have dropped your tinfoil hat as you were restlessly pacing. That's great, but that doesn't still doesn't serve as a deterrent to those willing to commit that crime. If you're scared of your partner killing you, you should absolutely try to leave, yes, but there should still be a penalty for your spouse killing you.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/05/15 02:04 PM
2

No.....but it's at least a deterrent. I'm not sure where you're coming from. The cops can't unrape you, but the fact that they can arrest your spouse if he/she tries to rape you might make your spouse not even consider raping you. You know, like why lots of people don't murder people even when they're pissed, because they could go to jail. I somehow can't imagine spousal rape rates going down if it's legalized.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/05/15 01:53 PM

I think this is a very dangerous sentiment. First of all, people change, they lose their jobs, they get upset, they're not the person you married. Second of all, people hide. Not many people come out and say that they're willing to take sex by force. Women (and the men who would experience marital rape) should feel safe inside their marriage. It is illegal to steal money from a spouse and it is illegal to commit battery against a spouse. Why should rape be any different?

I'm honestly happy for you:) I've also had good relationships, and I totally agree that effort is always required, so I'm with you there. I guess I just see it as less of a contest and more of a gift. I don't give in a relationship to get something back, but I know that I will anyway.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/05/15 11:26 PM
6

I can't even argue with you, and it's not for lack of points to make. You honestly just made me really sad for you. If you see it that way, I can't really make you feel differently. You play inside the game, and I'll play outside it, and we'll both get happy in our own ways. Sound fair?

Hell, maybe. It all ends up jumbled in the prefrontal cortex the same way, rationalized or not, I'm attracted.

TRP does teach how to get sex without the commitment, and to avoid giving commitment without the sex, sure, but women should be balancing this battle by doing the opposite Aiii, wouldn't it be easier to just find someone you don't have to play this ridiculous game with? I'm sorry, it just doesn't seem like adult behavior to me. I respect the differences in our opinions, but a power struggle over resources sounds like an almost comical farce of a healthy relationship to me.

You made me think here, because I do find it really attractive, and I actually do know the wiring circuits for passion and reason (they're actually influence each other quite a bit, but that's a story for a different day). I think good communication shows that a guy is an adult and values the relationship, and both of these things are attractive. So I not find it sexy while a guy is communicating with me, but the fact that a guy can communicate effectively makes me respect him a lot more, which …

Haha, dammit man, I italicized those words for a reason. I know that sex is leveraged. I've had it leveraged on me plenty a time. But I'm asking a question of should. If a man shouldn't assure commitment to his woman (which seems to be an idea I see around TRP a bit), should a woman never assure sex to her man.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/05/15 08:26 PM
2

This is an interesting viewopoint. Now as far as I understand TRP, women control sex and men control commitment, yes? If commitment should never be assured to a woman in a relationship, should a woman never assure sex to her man in a relationship?

Perhaps all women rewrote the memory, and perhaps there is a celestial teapot floating out in space. Perhaps inside that teacup is a razor engraved with the word "Occam". Who knows? And it wasn't really a big thing, I just realized that it wasn't working out, and the guy wasn't abusive or an asshole at all. He was a guy who I really liked and with whom I still wanted to be in a relationship. But that wasn't working with the distance he was putting between us. Yes the distance did make me want to…

Yeah, actually. It says "hey baby, I'm an adult, and I'm going to set these sexy boundaries right here, showing that I know how to ask for what I want without bottling up unsexy anger directed at you". Kissing and touching are definitely nice too.

I was in an LTR my freshman year of college (mistake number 1) where the guy started pulling back, wasn't answering my texts as often, and was generally not matching my effort. At first, I'm not going to lie, I started pursuing him. And then I realized how ridiculous that was and that that's not how a relationship works. And I broke up with him. Hmm, I think that women stick around when they shouldn't, and sometimes leave when they should, and men do the same thing. But honestly man, get out of your crappy relationship, you'll probably be doing both of you a favor. I'm female, but I've been in that situation of staying just because I thought I would hurt the guy by leaving, but it was definitely better for the two of us that I left. You too can have this weight off your shoulders!

And yet May-December marriages are still a tiny exception to the rule... Age differences create all kinds of problems in a relationship. One, one of you has to deal with spending all your time with an immature partner. Two, the other one has to be fine with the power imbalance often inherent to these marriages.

polygamous behavior is kinda the default; and even if an increased N count correlates with infidelity, men don't tank their marriages over this - they rather cheat on the side but keep their spouse. Women on the other hand are more likely to end the relationship for good. As a woman, I don't think I would be down for cheating, even if it were on the side and he wasn't planning on ending the marriage over it. I have a similar question that I've been meaning to ask for a while. I understand (I don't quite agree, but I understand) the slut/stud duality based on the fact that it's way easier for women to get laid. However, I don't understand the rejection of a woman with a high N count based on the fact that her previous one night stands and general promiscuous behavior show that she's not the kind of person who can do long term relationships with kids and stuff. When banks give you loans, they check credit ratings. When people buy cars, they check its condition and mileage. When employers hire people, they check the applicant's criminal record history and his resume Okay, what I'm taking from this is that TRP thinks all women are criminal loan sharks just waiting to steal your car. Argh! It's not okay for women to slut shame either. Jeez, people can be real douchebags. I don't have the longest dating history either, but that doesn't mean that I'm just totally okay to make huge sweeping judgments about someone based on a the number of people they've slept with. Women and men both, don't slut shame. It's douchey. Note: I'm not saying that you're wrong to not want to date promiscuous women, I mean, it might not be a choice that I would make, but you do you.

I think there is a bit of a difference. Attractive women aren't going for the 5' 2" guys, but the unattractive women are. If pair bonding and whatnot is super important to you, you probably shouldn't be sleeping with every girl you meet. Honestly, this brings up a good point, if only because there is a double standard here. A drunk woman can be raped by a man, but the law doesn't tend to recognize that a drunk man can be raped by a woman. It IS possible to rape a man, and male consent should get more attention. An erection is not equal to consent. However, the drunk driver analogy is still as cruddy as the first time it was brought up. A drunk person gets in the driver's seat and takes action. It's a satire sub. I'll repeat. It's a satire sub. It was created to make fun of TRP. On PPD, blue pill basically means non-red pill, it really doesn't refer to the views of BP, because BP doesn't really have views. It has members with views, but the sub itself doesn't really have solid views.

Confidence is the success point for TRP, not misogyny. I couldn"t agree with you more! It takes very little to be misogynistic. It takes a lot to become truly confident. Including, maybe, for some, adopting a few/some/many misogynistic views. Again, I agree with you, it takes very little to be misogynistic. But adopting a few/some/many misogynistic views doesn't make you confident. It just makes you think less of the women around you. That's not confidence, that's just putting someone down to ra…

Its easy to approach a hot girl in the street if you have the belief that she is a stupid whore. If you have the opposite belief however, that the girl is an intelligent goddess , then it would be MUCH harder to walk up with confidence and attract her. It doesn't matter what is true only how the outcome turns out. Or you could, you know, see her as neither an intelligent goddess nor a stupid whore. You could see her as just your average human being. Kinda good, kinda bad.

I don't think that TRP has the monopoly on confident, assertive guys. I don't see it as a venn diagram where you have two separate circles: neckbeards, and confident TRP adonises. There are all kinds of circles overlapping, and at the intersection of misogynistic and confident is a teeeeeeny tiny little circle of TRP men.

This is a bit off topic, but I almost have to agree with you. As a child of a divorce, I would take the shuttling any day over not seeing both of my parents. I know that. But you see ive seen things play out just like the redpill says with friends. And i think they would have avoided all that if they had read RP. /r/PurplePillDebate04/04/15 10:02 PM

How would you define his main point? That men put women on a pedestal? Because I think I can fix this issue right now. Men of TRP: women aren't perfect people. Most women are decent, some are amazing, some are downright manipulative jerks. Assume the same common sense wariness that you would with your male buddies and you'll do just fine.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/04/15 09:11 PM
5

Yes, this is true, wage gaps can definitely lead to "divorce rape". Although, I would like to add one thing to this. Men do tend to have their kids taken from them more often than women do. I think that's a major issue, and needs to be addressed. Equally fit parents deserve equal access to children. There's no reason for courts to have an inherent bias towards women when children are involved. That really is 1950s style nonsense.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/04/15 09:04 PM
4

Women are not perfect! I agree with that. There are manipulative men and women, I totally agree with that. I've had both male and female friends played like puppets until they figured out what was going on, and you're absolutely right, there is no way to tell them. But the ability to play a person who loves you is definitely not an exclusively female trait.

Aight, OP, here's the deal. Yep, we do like a strong confident guy who cares enough about himself to improve. However, that really need not be carried over into "all women are children, and they're all out to take your money and then divorce you". If TRP were all about self improvement, then we could just roll it into /r/getmotivated and everyone would be happy. But it's not just about self-improvement, it's also about how women are out to get you, and that's really just not true.

Pushup bras are cheaper than surgery. Totally true, I give you this. Guys aren't as picky as you think about large breasts. Women aren't as picky as you think about height. It doesn't mean that we're not going to take your average 5' 8" guy Even if guys were as picky as women, they don't have as much luxury to be that way due to mismatched libidos, causing imbalanced supply/demand. If he didn't want to date older women, that's totally fine. But I don't think it's okay to tell your partner she grosses you out. That's hurtful, no matter who it's coming from. She's in great shape for her age, and she can't help the wrinkles.

Haha, no better way to kill any sort of connection than telling your partner she grosses you out. That shows a supreme lack of concern for the other person's feelings.

That man is fifty-five years old. He might have a giant six pack. He's also going to have giant wrinkles. I'm twenty years old, I've never looked at a forty year old man and been like, "wow, I'd hit that". I've thought, wow, "he looks great for his age, good for him". A wrinkly old man told her she was too old and wrinkly for him. If he wants to date younger women, fine, but I think he's hit a wall too. Out of honest curiosity here, what about a gay couple composed of two men? How would that work out?

Well, I suppose I should thank you for humoring me thus far I try:) Can you imagine if even 1% of TRP posted questions about their special snowflake? No offense man, but it's called /r/relationships. And while I definitely don't endorse everything that comes out of there (sometimes I think the commenters need more help than the OP, 'cause, damn), they do get that every case has mitigating factors and a story.

Wow, that's actually a really good point, I had to think a bit, but I think I still have the same opinion. Very insightful though. I think that an actuarial scientist would look at an anecdote, read, shake his/her head, maybe chuckle, and then move on. They have mountains of compiled data pertaining to very specific, very quantifiable things: number of car wrecks, cost to insurance company. And you can bet their P-value is alpha as fuck. How do you judge (for example) whether a woman is going to…

I definitely second this. Height and hair color are pretty simple things, affected by a relatively few number of factors. Rationality gets hit with so many more affecting factors, there are just more possible outcomes. It's like predicting how many inches of precipitation we'll get this time next year.

Bear in mind that men only initiate divorce 30% of the time, and the top reasons are infidelity and letting yourself get fat. I don't think this is valid support for unconditional love. I think it might have more to do with the fact that men get their kids taken from them. Honestly, as a feminist, this is just ridiculous to me. There's no reason for good fathers to not have the same access to their kids as good mothers. It's a shame academia is so left-wing, else you'd see studies backing it up.…

I hear you, yes, there is definitely a parallel male standard. Shaming male virgins is one hundred percent not okay. Whether voluntary or involuntary, if a guy hasn't had sex, that says nothing about him other than the fact that he hasn't had sex. As far as "nice guys", assuming that you mean guys who act nice to get sex, that says something negative about their character. I understand why people judge. I don't want to judge them, but it definitely does happen. Good character is boss. As for bet…

I don't think that slut shaming is okay. If you don't want to have a long term relationship with someone who's had a lot of partners, okay, your life. But that doesn't give anyone the right to make some woman feel subhuman for having a lot of partners. She's making life decisions that aren't the same as yours, and that's okay. Hell, red pill in general is making life choices very different than mine, and I would never doxx anyone. It's not my place to make anyone feel public shame for their priv…

I don't think it's just dumb insecure broads who fall for the asshole routine, but someone who doesn't like guys who are trying to be good people, well, they might not make it into my inner circle of friends. Now again, doormats aren't sexy, they're easy to ignore and dirty from the feet of a dozen people walking on them, but guys who are strong enough to carry both their struggles and those of a few other people, those are cool guys.

It kinda sounds like the problem wasn't your manager, but your attitude. I don't know for sure of course, as I wasn't there, but I don't think I would want to work with your particular rancor. Usually, at night shift, low wage jobs, there is a particular way to do things. Minimum wage jobs are usually not looking for creativity, they are looking for people who can follow instructions. But, that being said, stuff happens and you learned. Go get a new job, and apply what you learned.

Huh? Who defended that? If you have a monogamous relationship, then keeping the relationship shut is completely reasonable. If both parties are down with opening up the relationship, then it's okay, but no, if you began a monogamous marriage, it's reasonable that you would want to keep it that way. Could there be some compromise, sure. But I don't think I would be interested in it if I were the guy.

Women seem more attractive to me too though, and I'm completely straight. I don't need to reduce dissonance for my female friends, but they seem more attractive to me when I get to know them. I agree, that is an explanation, which is why I threw it in. But this data does nothing to prove that premise, or any of the other premises I put forth. It's just a correlation. Check out this correlation for divorce rates in Maine. It proves about as much.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/03/15 09:22 PM

All I got to say is correlation =/= causation. Ayy carumba. Red pill and blue pill alike. There is good data and bad data. Perhaps gender roles being disrupted are bothering both parties? Perhaps women who make lots of money are not ready for marriage? Hell, there are about a hundred ways to explain this data, but correlative data doesn't tell you anything besides the fact that a trend is happening now. Also, vaccines don't cause autism. Another correlative jewel.

Not to mention, "sugar tastes good" is an easy thing to support. It does, because it's evolutionarily valuable. However, when you look at unhealthy eating behaviors, it's a much more complicated thing, and you have to look at a much wider array of factors, most of which evo psych can't cover.

Women have never been oppressed. Black people and Jews have been oppressed. I don't quite understand how you came to that conclusion. We literally just got the right to vote in the last hundred years. Modern marriage only benefits women. A man has everything to lose and nothing to gain. There is nothing a man gains from marriage today. I think that this really only applies between a man and a woman with a big wage gap. Since the wage gap is closing, I don't think this is quite fair. Well, as a (very) competitive woman, I'm going to have to disagree with you on that last bit:) I'm a premed student, and I plan on being a damn competitive candidate. But as for the rest of it, I might not agree with anything you said, but if your girlfriend's and your views line up, maybe that will bring you more happiness and peace than what I would consider a more respectful view of women. Thank you, anonymous internet stranger, for a peek into your life.

Okay, I want to ask this and not be argumentative, I'm not trying to attack you, I'm just trying to understand. How much does she know about your feelings about women? Does she know you don't see her as your equal (in the modern sense of the word)? If she does know that you have different than mainstream views about women, how does she reconcile that to her self-concept?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/02/15 07:17 PM

Did he ignore signals that she wanted him to stop? Did she respond enthusiastically? Or did she feel trapped and lie there like a mattress on tranquilizers?
/r/PurplePillDebate27/02/15 07:05 PM

Well, I'm glad you value her in your own way, even if I don't think that you respect her. Does she know how you feel about women/her? I mean, if she does, and she's just on the submissive side, then hey kids, you go for it.

If he made her feel coerced in some way, then yes, rape. If not then no, not rape. This is semi-sorta cut and dried.

Seeing her as your equal. Recognizing her ability to make rational decisions and seeing the differences between her and all the other women on earth.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/02/15 04:53 PM

If "guy pushes on" isn't coercive, then no. But this is a super vague situation. Consent does not have to be verbal, but there should be some form of consent from both partners. If she "wanted to have sex with him anyway", and she "thoroughly enjoyed it" then she'll act like she wanted to have sex and she thoroughly enjoyed it. It might have been a bad choice, but that doesn't make it rape, just a bad choice.

IME all women like some form of the man taking control in bed Well, you've never been with a domme, I'm going to guess:) But I can't really counter with my personal experience, I like a take-charge kind of guy a lot of time. I have a friend who's definitely more comfortable taking charge in bed, but hey, to each their own. What about the decisions outside of the bedroom, who leads there?

Huh, that's a really interesting take from the BDSM community, they seem to completely disown TRP. But that's just one perspective, I'm definitely still interested in hearing about it from RP and BP people.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/02/15 09:34 PM

Never mind about the misogyny, I'm genuinely interested now. And not BDSM, I mean Dominant/submissive (no, Bondage/Discipline). It would be where you take a dominant role in the relationship, and you make most of the decisions for both you and your partner. If there's one chair in the room and the rest is floor, you're getting the chair unless you decide to give it to your partner. That sort of thing.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/02/15 09:15 PM

Now I'm getting super curious. Would you say that you're interested in more of a D/s relationship? Because that's very much the vibe that I'm getting, just with more misogyny.

The fact that it exists is what makes a woman defensive. You don't need to tell a woman that slut shaming exists as you're climbing into bed to make her feel it. I guess what I'm confused about, is which do you want? A "slut" that has sex with you, or a virgin you can respect? I don't understand the mentality. Do you want a woman who resists sex with you, or a woman who has sex with you? I know it sounds like I'm being argumentative, but I'm seriously just trying to understand how you hold both …

Right, almost never do you have two candidates with exactly the same qualifications, that's why it's so subtle. The hire-er redefines the traits he/she thinks are necessary to be successful. That's why having good attitudes towards men and women (gender equality, yo!) is important, for both men and women!
/r/PurplePillDebate23/02/15 06:53 PM

Even if this actually happens in real life somehow you do realise people tend to separate their sexual views from work yeah? Often by legal obligation for that matter That really isn't how it works though, the brain is killer at categorization. In situations where there's ambiguity in qualifications (i.e. the two are somewhat equal, such as one person with great education but no experience, or a person with tons of experience but no education), the hiring manager is more likely to redefine which…

Because they exist in real life too, being angry at women, and spreading their misogynistic views, making life more difficult for women everywhere. That's a beautiful response. It's true, we do text a lot, however, same response. If you're deliberately ignoring me to make me feel desperate, I'm not interested. I don't even mean an ooey gooey LTR, I mean like having sex twice. Disrespect gets pretty obvious pretty fast. I'm not going to be a "plate" for a guy that doesn't respect me. I can find other people to have sex with if sex is what I want.

But a lot of women would pick a confident non-sexist guy over either - although it totally depends on what you call sexist A friend of mine just started dating a guy, and he's one ripped dude. He's funny, confident, (and I strongly suspect) dominant in bed. However, on their first date, he said he was a feminist. That's confident. I guess what I'm saying is that confident guys definitely exist, they're not too terribly uncommon, and non-sexist guys exist, and they're pretty common. Put the two t…

Yes, I agree, but I guess I'm not too fussy about one night stands, the whole glory of one night stands is that you don't really even need to like the person to have sex with him/her. However, I don't think that people want to keep on acquiring one night stands all the time. That's why plates exist. If I feel disrespected or talked down to before a one night stand, I of course won't sleep with that person, but I imagine that most people can hide their beliefs for one night.

Maybe that's why it works... If you show me real legitimate respect and then make fun of my gender stereotype, I'm cool, I have a sense of humor.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/02/15 04:05 AM
-1

Ahh, no. It means confidence will get you sex until I figure out that you're sexist (which isn't that hard to spot), and then the sex stops. So if you open your mouth too many times, then the sex will definitely stop. Unlike a confident not-sexist person, who will continue to get sex.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/02/15 03:20 AM

Confidence is freaking sexy, that's attractive. And that works really well for a one night stand, but I'm sure as hell not going to respect a man who doesn't respect me solely because I'm a woman, and sees me as some sort of inferior being. I wouldn't even have casual sex with that kind of person. So if your goal right now is to be having all the sex, well, confidence will help you, but if you want a long term relationship of any kind, you had better not be treating me like a child, because I'm …

Alcohol is a psychoactive drug, and it legitimately does screw with your ability to make decisions. I don't think that the majority of women are largely intellectually impressive, but then again I don't think that the majority of men are either. Yes, but my mom also says that if I go outside when it's cold, I'm going to get a cold. If I get a cold, it will be because I picked up a virus, not because I'm physically cold. I will agree with pandorarosie here, gossip and anecdotal evidence do not count as a source. Although, come on pandorarosie, Wiki has made leaps and bounds, apparently, they're getting close to most real encyclopedias for accuracy.

Heehee, I chuckled here. Thank you.

Okay, what goes in the blank? What are all women capable of? What behavior are all women likely to exhibit?

Heyyyyy, play nice.

Just, um, for the record, women do count as real people.

I totally agree that being a doormat is bad for either gender. Nobody wants a partner who just gives in all the time. I broke up with a guy for that, I could verbally bulldoze him to the ground in thirty seconds flat, and I didn't like that. But, it goes the opposite way too. I had a friend who broke up with a girl because she never stood up for herself, and just did everything to make him happy. So I agree, being a doormat is not sexy, confidence is sexy. But damn, the AWALT, misogynistic nonse…

Yeah, I really agree with this. I think TRP is like a handbook to a D/s relationship. If you want a submissive female, and you want to be a dominant male, then you're set, it's great. But if you or your partner fall closer to the mean of the bell curve, this stuff is not going to work in the long run.

This is exactly how I feel! I think if you're focusing on women that will sleep with you, you're working with an inherently biased sample. Of course you're going to see them as "slutty", but there are all kinds of women who won't sleep with you, what are they?

I don't know that this is true. I don't think that women are just plotted on a scatterplot where beauty level is proportional to tendency to accept non-LTR relationships. I think that women are a complex group of people, and different women have different goals, irrespective of their beauty level.

How do you know the ban was instigated by her? I'm just curious, I don't know anything about match.com.

Well, there's a difference. The court that made that man pay child support for eighteen years was on crack. However, Pirate Bay doesn't post pictures/videos of individual people, they post stolen commercial content. While, yes, filmmakers are losing revenue to TPB, that's not quite the same thing as having your nipples on the internet where your boss can find them (their personal information was also sometimes submitted). Conveniently, the guy also ran a website called changemyreputation.com, wh…

I don't think that it's necessary for RP to be valid to elicit this kind of reaction. I mean, you could hear the same thing from an SS officer wondering if the Jews really are evil (I'm not implying that RP=Nazism!! I'm just making a comparison with parties who feel guilt)

You are definitely right, there are nice women, and there are mean manipulative women. There are nice men, and there are mean manipulative men. This sub is mostly composed of the latter. Lady hate is not normal, dude. Unplug from TRP and get back to real life.

Or it'll make you sound insecure and controlling as hell.

You're just going to come off as insecure if you try and stop her from leaving. If you can't trust her, then the relationship is broken anyway. She has to have a life apart from you.

What exactly is your problem with her leaving for a week? Is it that you think that she'll cheat on you? Is it that you wanted to spend time with her?

You have never met the right women. Let me tell you, some women reeeally enjoy the actual act of sex.

Could you clarify that? Because if you're creating a situation with rich widows, I will remind you that the vast majority of women are not rich widows.

Women also like emotional responses from men. It definitely isn't all about the money.

Celebrity relationships don't usually last long. That was probably just a natural end to the relationship. 26 million and 30 million are pretty comparable. I'm guessing they just weren't compatible.

I think this goes both ways though. Relationships tend to be between similarly attractive people. Men and women both tend to eventually dump people that aren't as attractive as they are.
