I feel you! I have spent a lot of time since FDS mourning. Men that I convinced myself were “good” were merely not overtly abusive. Didn’t mean they were actually HVM or treated me well. It’s hard to grieve, and I very much relate. I’m finding reading feminist books is facilitating the grieving by allowing me to have memories resurfaced and then to let the anger of being mistreated truly wash over me. So much of the time I would turn that anger back on myself and tell myself I needed to be more …

I mean- as someone who has demonstrated a lot of pickme behavior- I don’t think I was ever asking to be sexually abused. Which is what lead to the pickme behavior. So not sure we should be talking quite so harshly about her end.

I don’t think she used it to paint everyone as over reactionary- I think she was just (rightly in my opinion) pointing out that maybe we don’t have enough information to fully jump to the conclusions of this guy having a personality disorder and that it is likely more complex than that. Yes and it’s okay to not like someone’s behavior and disagree without having to label them with a disorder. In fact that isn’t good people skills generally speaking. Generally that is not thought to be a healthy mental state to apply to life and people. And you can still protect yourself, stake your boundaries regardless of i…

I COMPLETELY agree. I feel like Lilith needs to chill on the labeling. Describe the behavior and why it’s troublesome due to the effect- jumping straight to personality disorders for someone you’ve never seen and only are reading one side of the story seems a bit overkill. In that story the couple was 18 or very early 20s ?

I don't know who she is or the man she talks about but damn do I know the feeling of being lied to in that same way in order for someone to try to get sex out of me. Its a terrible feeling, and was too forgiving at the time- but seeing it from the outside makes it so clear that no one deserves that.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
