I agree with you on the toxic masculinity term. I also use toxic femininity to describe the way women adhere to social standards that are ultimately harmful to women. I also agree about the marketing difference between breast cancer and prostate cancer. While problematic and a little sickening, the sexualization of breast cancer has been effective in raising money and awareness, and I don't see much potential in sexualizing prostate cancer. My grandpa died with prostate cancer at 91 (died of kid…

“Toxic masculinity is a narrow and repressive description of manhood, designating manhood as defined by violence, sex, status and aggression.” - Good Man Project's definition. So I can see the argument either way too. But men/boys are told to "man up", "walk it off," etc which would generalize to seeking medical attention. Studies have backed this up notably finding that "men who held traditional beliefs about masculinity -- that men should be tough, brave, self-reliant and restrained in their e…

My feminist response is that this is an example of toxic masculinity that is literally toxic. It is killing you. Men have been conditioned not to go to the doctor as often. You all need a special movement so you don't feel so bad about asking for help.

The legalities of what you are talking about in all scenarios are more complicated than that and women have less legal options than you realize and men have more if they chose to.

My understanding is that child support will only be terminated if it is in the best interest of the child and of the state. I googled 'safe haven laws and child support' and this is the first link. It seems that child support is expected from both parents until the child is adopted and if one parent, regardless of gender wants custody of the child, the other parent will be required to pay child support. If there are some states that allows the mother to relinquish all rights and responsibilities…

That's a misunderstanding of Safe Haven laws. Even if a woman gives the child up via safe haven, they will attempt to find the father and if the father wants to take the child, the mother will still be liable for child support.

I agree with what you are saying but you are mixing Issue 1 and Issue 2. The first issue is simply that of bodily autonomy. In the USA we (currently) have the right to refuse medical treatment or pursue it. If you needed my bone marrow to live and I was the only person who could save you but I said 'naw, don't like needles', you would die. So certainly, even if you impregnate me, you cannot force me to do something with my body, just like I can't force you. That is the entirely of the first issu…

If the father is the primary custody holder, yes, the mother would be ordered to pay child support even if she didn't want visitation. If the mother gives birth without notifying the father and attempts to put the child up for adoption, the adoption agency works to find the father because it is a rather common reason for adoptions to fail- that the father didn't sign the papers and wants the child. The famous case of Baby Richard is one of those. Now adoption agencies do not fuck around and have…

Many states require 24-48 hours between the initial abortion consult and the actual procedure. If you had to travel to get to a clinic you may end up needing to take several days off work.

It's two issues. The first is bodily autonomy- we can't force someone to carry a pregnancy or get an abortion. The second issue arises when the child is born and at that point the mother and the father are equal, neither can walk away. It is the rights/best interest of the child and the rights/best interest of the tax payer, not the rights of the mother or father that is the main concern. If the mother attempts to give the child up for adoption or abandon the child, the father can keep the child…

I enjoy wearing makeup. Yes, I also do it to cover up the minor skin breakouts I occasionally get and feel self conscious about. I hate being in my 30s and still breaking out like a teenager. I feel more confident with makeup on and I'm sure my confidence is part of why others may judge me to be more attractive and reliable. It makes me look more polished and put together. I like that as a woman I can wear makeup. I like that I can stay up late and feel haggard in the morning but with five minut…

" The difference between men and women in maturity, however, is that while females mature earlier in life, they also stop maturing at around the age of eighteen, as Schopenhauer aptly observes." "As such, women do mature faster than males but stop maturing at around the mentality of an eighteen year old (or also, I suppose, to the maturity of a 28 year old man), leaving the woman as literally, the most responsible teenager in the house." (Emphasis mine) ”Women are directly adapted to act as the …

I thought that the belief that women are literally equivalent to children was part of the foundational belief of TRP. This is in the required reading section: http://no-maam.blogspot.fr/2012/06/woman-most-responsible-teenager-in.html

If you want to find out the truth, why are you only looking for studies that confirm the beliefs you already hold? Why not just look for studies on this subject in general and then form your beliefs?

Women are obviously the weaker sex physically, no question. Emotional intelligence- the ability to identify, assess, and control the emotions of oneself, and the ability to identify and respond to the emotions of others. Intellectual intelligence- the ability to learn and apply knowledge.

Hostility to submissive women is extremely common in this debate and I find it disturbing. I admire the RPW who keep coming back and trying to explain themselves, which doesn't seem very submissive to me (which makes sense because these ladies keep saying that they are only submissive to their husbands, not to everyone). What bothers me the most is that in our culture men are encouraged to take the attitude of "my wife is always right" and "when mom's happy, everyone is happy", and the second yo…

I don't really care about the debate, I care more about people. You seem unhappy. You are taking seroquel and feeling better, so that's good. How long have you had anxiety? Did anything cause it? What would you like from life? Is your mom supportive? I am sending you hugs and good wishes.

Yes, of course you are right that simply because we wish something were true does not make it true. However, I do not believe it to be true that women are inferior lovers than men. I believe women can love as faithfully and strongly as men and men can love as faithfully and strongly as women. Men and women are not the same but I don't understand why different means one must be inferior. I am interested in the questions you suggested I pose. I'm also interested in why you chose to believe that a …

In my life I try to put myself in other people's shoes. Of course, I can only imagine which is why I ask so many questions. If I believed that I can never rely fully on my spouse to continue to love me if I show hesitation, self-doubt, or emotional pain, that I must always be calm, together, and in control of myself, I would be deeply lonely. If I believed that my husband, at best, is a well-dicisiplined mature teenager to my adult, I would be deeply disturbed. If I believed that I must be const…

Why are women able to luxuriate in love and men are not? Where/why is it different- biology, social conditioning? Are men doomed to having to be on their game, always?

Do you think the truth is that a women is fundamentally incapable of loving a man? Or is the truth you are talking about more about the nature of dating and what will help get you laid? There is such a wide spectrum of RP beliefs, which truths have been most important to you?

If a heterosexual woman internalized the idea that 'all men are pigs', I would feel sad for her that she is losing out on the chance to find happiness in a romantic relationship. I see it the same way.

I don't know if there is a conspiracy. I've only worked on a very micro level and haven't looked further. I should though. It's a big problem. And you are right, some are aware. They rolled their eyes when I asked questions about men and men's services. The others looked at me with confused bambi eyes. I don't know which is worse.

Sadly, I knew it was that bad. There are supposedly gender-neutral sexual assault survivor advocates but I've done trainings with them and it's NOT gender neutral. They aren't trying to be sexist but they assume women need more help than men. If anything, the opposite is true. The lack of support for men is breathtaking. If a woman says she was sexually assaulted she receives a great deal of support (sometimes the legal system can be difficult but from family and friends she usually receives sup…

I always appreciate your well thought out posts. There are men's rights issues that I sympathize with, but the overall attitude of society of 'women and children into the lifeboat first' is the real problem, not the individual issues. The state of the VA makes me sick, especially in dealing with mental health issues of vets. If that story about kicking out the 12 year old is true, that is a truly shameful. In my experience, there is equal help for men and women homeless individuals but almost no…

Are you always looking to upgrade or are you loyal? Does your husband respect you as equally important even if the roles are different? Why do you desire to turn yourself over to the care at all? You come across strong and opinionated on reddit, why do you desire to be submissive?

Now now, don't be so pessimistic. Maybe when you are 85 you will have a lot of money and some opportunistic nubile 25 year old will marry you and give you lots of old man bjs and your will leaves her nothing. ;) In all seriousness, your pre-written life's story sounds utterly depressing to me. My romantic relationship is the most fulfilling and important thing in my life. What has brought you to this conclusion?

I asked because you are RP and I was wondering if all or most RP men have given up on love. I agree that you shouldn't get a girlfriend to fill a void in your life or solve your problems. I believe romantic love is an amazing thing but we have to be full people capable of taking care of ourselves and our own happiness before we fully engage in a partnership.

So are you concluding that no one should have romantic relationships because no one can be trusted?

That's an excellent point. I will try to hug or touch more men but I will have to find a way to do so that's not flirty/misleading. Hmmmm. I did know a single woman that after a divorce she would get massages to have more human physical contact. It helped her. I'm sure more human physical contact would help a man as well.

I realize that my original post had two parts to it. The first part is that women are unfaithful and emotionally frivolous. The second is that women are overgrown teenagers who cannot be equals in a relationship, so therefore the relationship is more parent/child than adult/adult. My point is that if both are true, it is a sad state of affairs for men and it makes me sad for the men who do believe both are true.

That's a good concept to think over. What is the role of legal marriage in our culture today? I live in the USA and here marriage is what a person does after living together for a period of time; it's a given. This is not the culture in many other countries. I wonder if they feel better about LTRs than many Americans do, or if it is just the same thing under a different name. Why would having the type of relationship with a woman I described be awesome?

When I started learning about TRP and read some of the recommended readings what struck me was not 'poor oppressed women!' but 'how sad for men'. One article went so far as to say that men love women, women love children, and children love puppies and just as we can't expect children to love adults in the same way adults love children, women can't love men the way men love women. As a red pill man I think you are grieving the way love was promised to be to you before you swallowed the red pill. …
