It is one of my favorite things to study as I believe you must know where you’ve been to appreciate and understand where you are. I am a practicing Civil War reenactor and studied AA history for two years in college. I know this because I’ve seen it. There are poor folk of every race. I also agree that it is possible for any man to succeed no matter his race. As a black man however I do not have some of the “privileges” (that are actually rights) that come with having white skin. I started off at an HBCU but because of lack of funding in their program my chemistry professor suggested I transfer to a better university so that my degree would carry more weight on applications. I transferred to the PWI I am at now and I can barely afford it even with scholarships I’m on and max loans. My parents are actually unable to help me even get food at times.
