There's dropping complaints for her abuse of him, there's baking her a cake because things are going better in counseling. A lot of people in these situations (particularly DV victims) get sucked in over and over and over because the perpetrator is "really sorry this time." By and large, DV victims tend to give abusers chance after chance after chance to come back. Addicts, IMO, are the absolute worst, in terms of abusers, because they are also manipulative liars. I don't mean to be negative at all, but I do tend to use harsh words to cut to the chase. It's not about "expert" anything for me. People in family law situations are the experts on their situations, and I kind of know the road map, or where to find it. I don't see myself as an expert, I see myself more as a technician than anything. I get that his perspective is clearly important, for sure.
