Fellas, is it gay to be attracted to women?

One way in which we’re much like baboons is a behavior called displaced aggression. When someone hurts us or offends us, we take out that stress on someone vulnerable. When we’re under a ton of social pressure, we raise our expectations of others. I think this can explain the appeal of red pill.

Nice! See my comment on baboon social structure. Sapolsky taught me more than I ever thought I wanted to know about baboons in A Primate’s Memoir.

Haha I really don’t know. The real point is that I can’t imagine humans acting this way. Humans are not quite a tournament species. We resemble pair-bonding species a little more, i.e. it’s not considered a privilege to sire tons of kids when you’re expected to raise them.

The whole alpha male thing is way oversimplified in trp. So baboons are a closely related primate and are a tournament species. The males are twice the size of females on average and are absolutely brutal. Tournament species males have a strict pecking order with the alpha at the top. So far, seems like a red pill dream, but how all this relates to mating is completely unlike human sex. A baboon female is in estres for 5 days at a time in about a one month menstrual cycle. The whole troop can te…

If your crowning achievement is manipulating an Applebee’s waitress into sleeping with you, congrats bro, your life is in fucking shambles. It’s so funny how he acts like his friends are the ones being beta and he’s the guy who’s too badass to care what some waitress thinks of him. It’s obvious that he was obsessing over her the whole time and only pretending to be interested in watching the game because he’s too awkward to flirt.

You’re right. I’m just talking about the extreme types online hooking people into redpill and MRA stuff. I don’t think they get out much. This sub makes me think people aren’t necessarily bad, they just get suckered in. There’s a base of people who may never learn because they have little exposure to the world.

What I mean is I think the ideas are largely circulating through people who have had little real life social interaction. It’s probably being transmitted to all kinds of people. I mean there’s the documentary but also there’s a whole extremist online community evangelizing for it.

I think social media is a major reason the “alpha male” misunderstanding has had a resurgence. You can be whoever you want online but in reality this brand of compensatory machismo would get you laughed at, slapped, or clocked in the face. That’s not misandry, it’s just putting douchebags in their place.

Wow. All your 21 years. In the coming years your prefrontal cortex is going to develop and your testosterone concentration will fall. Then hopefully you’ll become more reasonable with respect to women. There is more to life than sex don’t let the absence of it define you.

If you would give up your honor and integrity for a little pussy, I’d guess you’re operating from a place of very low self-esteem yourself. It’s also odd that RP types say an “alpha” male would manipulate someone for sex instead of attracting people based on their character. The answer to both is self discipline and work on developing yourself and the right person will come. It’s simple but not easy.

All you are saying is humans can see better in better-than-nighttime illumination so they create light sources. It’s like saying humans can’t breathe under water, so they build their homes on land. The reason I am using more particular examples is because usually descriptions of human social behavior are more particular than “humans are light bound.” That has too broad an application to be studied as an isolated variable. Also, when you start deriving ‘should’ statements from that, it’s only a h…

The ‘should’ is what, now? Ok, what is genetically different about modern humans that don’t gather around a campfire at night? Humans that work third shift and sleep during the day? They must be biological rebels, because they don’t do what they should.

Every “society reflects biology” argument ever made has been disproven. Biology doesn’t give us any ‘should’ with regard to social behavior.

Yeah, I didn’t mean to come off like that, but I can see how I opened myself up to that interpretation. You said it better!

It seems like you at least understand the metaphor. I wonder if there would be more variety of responses if posted in this sub or the main sub.

Since I think I’ve already gotten satisfying answers to my question let me ask you something else. Do you see dating more as: A) a marketplace in which Person A is seeking X and Person B is seeking Y and if Person B has X and Person A has Y, then A and B enter into a voluntary exchange, or B) Individuals cultivating good qualities in themselves, focusing on what they can offer others, until the right person comes along and love develops organically. C) Neither, or some mix of both The next quest…

Thanks for your thoughtful response. On first read through it all seems pretty clear. I’m saving so I have for reference and will be reading more when I’m more awake. The last paragraph really hits the nail on the head and describes exactly what’s been on my mind the last few days. I’ve felt so sad over this for months and it would be a total waste if I didn’t learn anything from it.

I agree with you but I think a lot of your comment is in response to the question itself ignoring what I am emphasizing in the body text. I don’t think this girl motivated me to act better. On the contrary, I think the moments when I was motivated by desire for her led me to seek and follow the conventional (bad) advice. In the end, HVM behavior was automatic and the least effort. If I could explain, I think love is an inborn behavior and like you say we impose on it all these structures like pa…

I understand and agree with everything you’re saying! Maybe the circumstances I’m referring to are too specific to make some generalizable conclusion. Also, maybe this wasn’t clear, but the girl wasn’t just the “right person” merely because of mutual compatability but because we both approached attraction as something meaningful and rare.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
