This is a terrible analogy and only further indicates that you think sex is transactional, because your painting scenario is completely transactional. Either the painter and the person agreed to a cost up front, in which case payment is expected, or they didn't, in which case no payment can be expected. My husband and I have been using an IUD as our only contraception (i.e., no condoms, no pulling out) for 15 years, and so far, so good. I would worry more about STDs if I were you. As far as pregnancy, an IUD is infinitely more effective than the pullout method, so assuming she has one, I don't know that pulling out is worth its many downsides (unless that's what you're into).
