I think it's men who feel more emasculated if making less money than the reverse and see financial success fo a woman as not a draw (or a negative). Many of my friends, myself in included, see "provider" as more about being a good dad than the more financially successful. I make more money than my husband, he also does well but it's a sizable gap that in no way impacts either of our opinions on the other.
