I remember when this first hit the news. The only reason prosecutors tried anything was the girl's father was politically connected.

More because they tend to be poorer with less access to healthcare.

So roughly the same odds as getting struck by lightning this year.

This doesn't really surprise me--when my mother was diagnosed with cancer, the CFO of the hospital where she worked called a board meeting to discuss ways of firing her since her treatment would raise their insurance premiums. Luckily, my mother had worked there for nearly 30 years and was friends with the CEO and a couple of board members. IIRC, the FMLA only applies to companies that employ 50 or more.

My brother's ex headbutted him then blackmailed him into signing over his truck or she would file abuse charges when he kicked her out. Since he had a year to go on a 5 year probation and her stepfather (who, it later turned out, she was fucking) was a detective, he felt like he had no choice.

One of the worst cases I've heard about was a hs classmate of mine started dating a girl who was 2 months pregnant. They married before the baby was born so his name gets put on the birth certificate. 6 months later he catches her screwing around with the baby daddy and is stuck paying child support for the next 18 years.

Hell judges here are elected, so they decide by what's popular rather than what's right.

Friend of mine is on probation right now for shoving his gf to the ground after she hit him with a cast iron skillet. No charges for her.

A few years back i found out an ex was planning on breaking up with me after xmas when she accidentally typed in the wrong instant message box (she would have 5 or 6 open at a time).

Just the other day i got into an argument with a female friend over this. She claimed that if the guy got an erection that meant he wanted it. I then asked her if a female rape victim had an orgasm (happens around 5% of the time) that it shouldn't be called rape. Of course she claimed that never happens even when i showed her government stats on it.

I've heard of cases where both were charged with felony child rape.

Not anymore but it used to be pretty common practice.

Friend of mine was hit in the head with a cast iron skillet and pushed her down when she swung again. He was arrested for dv and when the cops went to clear her apartment and found weed, they charged him with that as well. No charges for her.

No, but it does protect you in case she "forgets" to take her pill.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
