I have rarely seen my father vulnerable and while it has given me solace growing up not worrying what the next day brings, it hasn't brought us as close as other kids my age are to their fathers. I think the surest measure of creepiness is if it's said in a way that intentions come off as vague (even more so magnified if it's coming from someone you're uncomfortable or a stranger).
