I think if you are looking to continue growing as an individual, it's imperative to reduce the amount of toxicity and negativity in your life. The people you choose to associate with can be significant sources of toxicity in your life. They may not be doing toxic things to you directly, but if you know they are doing shitty things to other people and you know it's morally wrong, it's just bad vibes to have to carry that around with you. And not doing or saying anything about it is unfortunately …

I was DD for a bachelor party a couple years ago, it was for my brother's friend who was getting married. At the end of the night I came to pick them up and drive them back to my brother's place, and the groom was missing from their group. I was worried because they were all super drunk, but they assured me over and over that groom was OK and had gone home earlier because he got too drunk and wasn't feeling well. The next day my brother confessed to me that the groom met another woman at the bar…

As someone who has struggled with an eating disorder for a good chunk of my life, I appreciate the challenge you're going through and I support you 💖

Holy crap. Thank you for taking the time to share your story, these experiences are so important to read. What you said about codependency really resonated with me. Codependency is a concept that is still not really openly discussed, yet so many people exhibit codependent tendencies in their relationships. I learned about codependency from my mom. She had a fiance who was an addict and who ended up dying from an overdose in his 20s. A few years later she married another man, my dad, who was a re…

The mask comment reminded me of something. A couple years ago one of my friends pointed out to me that I had a 'type' of guy that I always ended up going for - "a fuckboy in a dollar store mask". Funny analogy but sadly true. Most of us can look back on the past and previous men we've given our time to and see a pattern - at least for me, I can clearly see that most of these men weren't even good manipulators, they were just occasionally nice to me when they felt like it, and did the bare minimu…

Great idea with the tinted moisturizer with SPF. Have you tried any brands that you recommend? I'd love to get to a point where I feel totally comfortable without wearing makeup! I'm getting there but it's still a struggle some days.

I relate to this so much. I don't feel "put together" at work without a full face of makeup. There are plenty women who don't wear makeup and I don't even notice it or care who wears what, but for some reason I uphold these ridiculous standards for myself. I've been trying reduce the amount of makeup I wear, and today I only wore mascara so that was a big leap for me! I mean, wearing a mask helped, but still. Getting there!

So true. They always come crawling back, even if they don't actually want you. Usually they are bored and just want some kind of attention or a stroke of ego. Or they're horny and want to keep tabs to see if you're still single and if there might be a chance to sleep with you again. They hide behind the facade of pretending to care. They don't actually care about how you're doing or what's new in your life. Literally no point in entertaining the idea of talking to them. Blocking them eliminates …

Another true idiot and selfish person. I actually had a friend/coworker die in their sleep from a diabetic low. They didn't show up to work one day and one of our other coworkers went to check on him and found him.. ugh. Like why can't you just eat something else or buy your own stash of candy. Just no excuse.

Wow. I tried to listen to different episodes of her podcast a few times in the past, and I could just barely make it past the intro advertisements to the actual discussions. I honestly wanted to like it but something just felt 'off' to me. I got cringey vibes from it, definitely didn't make me feel "inspired" or sexually empowered as a woman. I also find it incredibly low to call yourself a doctor without earning the title. It's disrespectful to actual doctors, and misleading to people who are t…

Shaming would be more effective, since blatantly asking and begging him is not getting anywhere. Maybe it would knock the sense into him that he desperately needs.

I was just about to say this too. Like how do you get this far into a relationship with someone without finding out that they are lacking in basic hygiene/life skills? You definitely don't move in with them and then find out after the fact, so I feel like there's some pieces missing from this story. This also cannot be the only thing wrong with this guy. If he can't even brush his damn teeth, I guarantee he lacks serious responsibility in other areas of his life and the relationship. I have a ha…

When everything is spelled out for them and expectations are communicated clearly, people actually have to put effort into ignoring their partner and sucking this much. It's really sad. He would rather actively ignore and hurt his partner, than go buy some flowers and plan a nice dinner. It's seriously not hard and doesn't even cost much to do. Most restaurants even have a Valentine's Day menu already planned, some even have extras like flowers and wine that you can add to the order for gods sak…

I hate this too. I'm a recovering people pleaser and I've had men confuse my politeness with attraction over and over again. I'm 30 and it's happened to me multiple times throughout my entire life. Just because I was friendly and talked to you, it doesn't mean I like you or even want to be your friend. Just leave us the hell alone!

Dear god this guy is a loser. He actually had to put effort into being this careless, as she literally spelled out her expectations for him and he couldn't even follow through with that

Typical low effort LVM "gift" lol. How thoughtful! Don't be too hard on yourself, most of us have been in your shoes before. I posted about this instance here a few days ago, but years ago I spared myself from being given the most thoughtless "gift" ever from a LVM I was in process of breaking things off with. He had been texting me saying he had a gift for me, which I'm pretty sure was his lame way of trying to reel me back in with attention. I refused to meet up with him so he sent me a pictur…

You had me laughing at your description of that old coffin dodger you had to put up with! I will never again give a chance to any man more than 5 years older than me, I'm 30 and want to stay within my age group. In the past few months I ended things (aka blocked/deleted) a man who was 43 (to be fair, he lied and made me believe he was 38 lol). He had so much baggage, hid things from me (such as having a kid, no big deal right??) and lied about so much shit in his life. I'm still mad at myself fo…

So nasty! I've fortunately never had to experience this irl, but I've read about the issue enough times in different relationship subreddits over the years, I know damn well it's too common than it should be.

This is so true. Over the years I dated a few guys who were like this. They either "didn't do gifts" (one guy even thought it was materialistic to give gifts at all lol), or they were super low effort / shitty gift givers. This reminded me of a funny and pathetic LVM story I have. A few years ago I was casually dating this guy who I was planning on ending things with, and I'm pretty sure he could sense that I was pulling away from him and becoming more distant. So one day he texted me saying he …

That's awesome. Would you mind to PM me the details of this program? I'm in Canada as well, would love to volunteer for something like this.. I know it might not be possible right now due to COVID, but it would be good to research. I hope there is a service like this near me.

Reading that gave me a legit sinking feeling in my stomach. I've never given birth or been married, but even just trying to fathom that level of betrayal is heartbreaking.

Ugh, true story time.. I was dating a LVM for 4 months before I discovered he had an 8 year old son. That's actually what caused me to block him and cut him off completely without providing him any explanation or closure. I found out because I had a nagging feeling he was hiding something, so I did some digging and discovered the truth. That whole experience is also what led me to find FDS. I was so disgusted that he would hide such a significant part of his life. Oddly enough though, I actually…

It sounds like you are much better off blocking him again without any explanation to him. Imagine how good it will feel to never have to deal with him again. He will not change and he does not add anything positive to your life. In the past I've also read or heard that blocking people is frowned upon, but I realized people who say this have some kind of personal agenda, or they are the ones who are at risk of being blocked, or they have been conditioned to believe they owe people some long winde…

So I've never been straight up asked for money but I did date someone in my early 20s (30 now) who was constantly broke because he had a car he could barely afford and had also recently quit his job seemingly for no reason, I never got a straight answer (he prob got fired). I recall paying for our first date and many dates thereafter, otherwise we would just sit on the couch watching tv. I had depressingly low standards, the guy just basically had to not abuse me and that was good enough. It alw…

My brother is 33 and bought his 29-year-old girlfriend of 5 years a promise ring like 2 years ago. I cringed so hard seeing all the photos of it on social media. My mom even thought it was weird but would only admit it to me in private.

Dear god.. what an idiotic excuse. "I'm part of some weird groups so you can't add me on Facebook". The cheating is obvious but even aside from that.. why would you even want to be with someone who claims to be into shit so "weird" that they can't even let you find out about it?
