Okay, I may have misplaced my emphasis on the subject. But, I was simply trying to use box office on an independant-limited release-arthouse film as a quantifiable metric for her talent as a film maker. Do you understand what I was trying to do?

Yeah I don't really agree with your projection. Feminism is mainstream now, like it or not. There isn't really anything controversial about associating as one anymore. I would be astonished if her sales drop at all.

Definitely a very interesting theory. That gets way too far into future projection for my understanding of the social system. So, I apologize that I cannot offer any substantial comments or feedback. But, I appreciate you actually having a discussion with me without relentlessly downvoting. I have been getting eviscerated in this thread for my opinions.

Everybody keeps mentioning her whining about "oppression" but nowhere in this article or full interview is female oppression even mentioned. I understand people maybe wanting to talk about her hypocrisy, but then why bother posting this article. It has nothing to do with hypocrisy.

I understand that she seems like a pretty shitty person. And she is most certainly privileged to have been born into a family that would support her pursuits financially and artistically. But don't pretend like success is some apple you can just pick off a tree. Have you heard of Chet Hanks, Trace Cyrus, Sean Stewart? Eh. I personally think its less bullying and more her being carefully managed and manufactured to be profitable. It is clear that she is bending over backwards to avoid being labeled a feminist at first. I personally don't think anybody of Taylor Swift's success, influence, and clout could be bullied into any sort of social position. It's all about the manufactured image to be as profitable as possible.

I understand that you may find Lena Dunham's personality and views abhorrent, but I think it is ridiculous for you to diminish her accomplishments in film and television. I am sorry, but a 23 year-old making an award winning independent film, grossing $400,000 on a $60,000 budget, is amazing. This lead to her collaboration with Judd Apatow for HBO's Girls.
