I was definitely surprised too!! I don't mind the reaction too much so long as they're respectful, and I think a decent discussion was able to take place. Perhaps it's b cause online dating is so normalized, and the words "auction" aren't the most pleasant to hear? Just conjectures though

Good point about how Asian women are commoditized!!! I realise I was mainly grappling with how online dating is a flexible FDS rule and why, technically SAD could be considered online dating too, but it still didn't feel right to me for some reason - you hit the nail on the head for why!! And thank you for your point about joining more AAPI groups! Will definitely consider that after COVID is over :)

Thanks for doing the extra research!! The statistic about Asian women dating/marrying outside their race more than any other race of women in the US is actually probably one of the biggest reasons for the group's existence. Very, very good point. The main purpose was to encourage the Asian diaspora to date one another, as they tend to be scattered all over the place. But for that matter, meeting someone through this process would likely yield less favorable outcomes/matches because of the manner in which you met. Thank you!

Yes! Completely agree. Another app I've found to be helpful just to keep track of everything and is free: Mint. It won't teach you as much as YNAB, just help you keep track of your assets and liabilities, however.
