This has to be a joke. Most people don't even have degrees lol. You guys are both highly educated and hardly represent the average person. Also having kids is pointless and bad for the environment. but it's hard to meet women that are also childfree. I live with my parents and earn 17 an hour as a security guard. Most women my age want kids and make more than me. Completely delusional.

The only way to successfully meet women is in person and not through dating apps. The sad part is as a homebody introvert it's near impossible to find someone in your age range that's viable for dating. Especially when your only interests are internet and lounging. I can't stand the apps. They've ruined dating. They've made everyone ambitious and all these hobbies and activities that it's nauseating.

I think the main flaw with apps is that I personally cannot measure someone's attractiveness purely through a photo. There are women who I found extremely attractive IRL but when I see their photos on FB they do nothing for me. They just look whatever. I need to see their aura, mannerisms, voice, facial expressions, etc. Ironically I'm a homebody introvert and I despise socializing and being outgoing. But I'm naturally extremely good at connecting and making conversation with people.

I feel alot of us men are lonely is because not all of us are outgoing people who enjoy social circles or friends. I just want a partner who spends time with me at home. Friends are exhausting. Socializing is exhausting. Outgoing hobbies are exhausting. I'm good at it but it's just annoying. A romantic partner and family I have infinite energy for.

I take it I'm the only virgin here in their 30s or older. I feel like being a virgin is a blessing in disguise because I'm a homebody introvert and people with outgoing hobbies and social circles are completely exhausting. Even if I didn't have medical issues which discourage me from sexual activity I still would have issues finding women.

I'm an attractive virgin and I'm a virgin because I have a rare condition where I get sick from ejaculation. I've been hit on plenty of times by women and am good at charming them. I've accepted my fate that I will die alone with no one else.

Like never. There's nowhere to meet anyone as a homebody introvert. Most people have hobbies and activities. People who just like to chill and don't do anything or lounge around are the one's I'm into. All my friends from middle school were just like me.

I'm romantic and sexual it's just there's nowhere to meet women when you have no hobbies or interests. Or I should say when your hobbies or interests are solo in nature. I'm not interested in sports, bars, concerts, volunteering, etc.

The study does not show that and stop talking out of your ass. I found that taller people may have short-term increased T levels post-exercise. but that's about it. https://www.researchgate.net/publication/345821241_A_positive_relationship_between_body_height_and_the_testosterone_response_to_physical_exercise#:~:text=Recently%2C%20Kowal%20et%20al.,... ... What a gross misinterpretation of the study. This has nothing to do with naturally occurring T levels between people of different height. this is just a study on phenotypes in relation to testosterone and facial geometry. obviously testosterone plays into masculine traits within a population. but it has nothing to do with population differences based purely on height. Research shows that there is no correlation between T levels and one's height.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/07/24 11:28 PM

I have high T and have a weak jawline, am average height, and am an introvert. My testosterone was recently measured at 905 ng/dl. I don't exercise and eat like garbage. Also, height is not correlated to testosterone. children undergoing puberty too fast tend to be shorter. testosterone fuses the plates sooner.

Creative outlets come from the mind not the outside world. *"All of humanity's problems, stem from man's inability to sit quietly in a room alone.”* - Blaise Pascal
/r/PurplePillDebate12/06/24 02:10 AM

No, a lot of us do that.. we just keep our hands busy whilst doing it. That doesn't count. Sorry.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/06/24 02:09 AM

I like to think. Everything I read I regurgitate when I stare at a wall or if I'm sitting outside contemplating. Doesn't matter the topic of discussion. I'm always in tireless contemplation. I can never get bored with thought. Apparently you humans need constant dopamine rushes to get your quickest fix or to fill in the void of your short mortal life. I'm not trying to sound like an edgelord. But it must suck to not have the ability to remain satisfied alone for at least a week with no outside s…
/r/PurplePillDebate12/06/24 02:06 AM

I know. Most people are not enlightened enough to seek fulfillment in their own self reflection and contemplation.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/06/24 01:59 AM

That's exactly what I do. Sometimes I'll just pace back and forth between rooms talking to myself, either in my head or out loud.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/06/24 01:57 AM

My hobby isn't thinking of fantasy worlds. It's thinking about nothing. I literally spend my free time just pondering about my childhood or other aspects of my life. I have no hobbies. I just walk around my room all day long on my days off doing nothing. Or I'm outside sitting in the front lounging like an old person in his chair. Are people really that lifeless where they need hobbies or external entertainment in order to keep them fulfilled and occupied?
/r/PurplePillDebate12/06/24 01:50 AM

Are hobbies really that important? I have literally no hobbies and can easily entertain myself w/o doing anything all day. You could put me in a padded room in the loony bin and I'll thrive in my own little fantasy world.

Where did I imply I cared so much about your penis? I'm just saying that lifestyle is a poor sense of character. I don't care if you continue to belittle yourself and have casual sex or hook ups. That's everyone's personal decision. I really don't care.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/06/24 11:49 PM

I've had chances but unlike you and the rest I don't need it to seek happiness or fulfillment. Casual sex is not fulfillment. It's a sign of weak mental fortitude and character. It's an empty void of short term pleasure over long term love. Studies show time and time again that casual sex / hooks ups do more harm than good. You literally just said it yourself.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/06/24 11:41 PM

Most the women I’ve had sex with it was very short conversation, I just knew she was attracted to me and so we matched, met somewhere, then had sex. Imagine being weak enough to have casual sex / hooks ups rather than actually form a relationship with another human being. No wonder why social media has turned everyone into products that we use as junk food. Pathetic.

Asocial. I'm not a sociopath. Not leaving your house means less interaction with people. And, unfortunately for you, women are people I agree on technical grounds. But regardless, there's nowhere to meet cool homebody people so there's no point in venturing outside with the normies. Just by sheer statistics alone.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/06/24 11:28 PM

If less people are introverts than extroverts then logically the world does run on extroversion. I can't think of any real positive benefits for introversion in labor. Humans are social creatures. And yes I'm an introvert like you except I don't need hobbies outside of my house to pretend I'm interesting.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/06/24 11:20 PM

You have to consider the type of women you're going after. Women who go after men like that end up being single moms. Saying 'just go to the gym, bro!' 'just shower, bro!' is an empty platitude that means absolutely nothing. Looks only matter if your type of women bases her lifestyle on casual sex / hooks ups. And I don't want women who possess such a lifestyle. I would argue most men wouldn't be with such a woman.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/06/24 11:16 PM
2

Medical problems and I'm not into these people. Everyone I like is taken and everyone I'm not into isn't. Casual hooks ups are also a sign of a weak character. It means you have an inability to control your urges and desires and harness them for self reflection or knowledge acquisition. If you really are what you say you are, which I believe, then you are truly not a real introvert. Getting laid for the short term primal desire is just a sign of pure weakness.

I've been hit on by women IRL and have gotten several likes on tinder after creating my profile in less than 5 minutes. I'm no young Brad Pitt. But I certainly possess better facial features than a sizable chunk of men out there.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/06/24 11:05 PM
1

Women care more about money and resources than looks. Looks aren't even the top of the list. They might matter for short term, casual hook ups. But long term looks aren't all that important. Women are superficial and care more about a man being willing to provide than how cool his personality is, how good he looks, his moral character, etc. Trust me. This is coming from someone who's gotten 5 likes on tinder in less than 5 minutes after creating his first profile and has been hit on by women IRL…

They struggle because they don't want to pretend to be someone else they're not. It'd be great if we could meet people who vibe with us in a low chill, laid back environment. But there's no real solution for homebodies since both are unwilling to go out under the correct statistical assumption that the chances of meeting each other are slim to none. Not sure what "superficial" means here? I assume things are superficial if they're about what "sexually arouses" someone? Sure I guess. Everyone is …

There's no such thing as standing out. Standing out is just a coping mechanism to make people feel that they need to be someone that they aren't in order to fit in. Be yourself. Notice how we never tell women to stand out? Not all of us have passions, ambitions, or life goals. Some of us just want to chill and hang out all day long. If women cant accept that then move on to the next person.

Personality only matters insofar as if you're a normie or not. A normie is a socially engaging, outgoing extrovert. Who has hobbies outside of his house. If you aren't a normie then you're shit out of luck. I'm a proud homebody introvert so even if I'm better looking than like 90% of men out there my personality wont mean shit. Women are superficial when it comes to money, resources, looks, and even personality. Arguably more so than men. Superficial or selective? Probably both.

I've seen plenty of average to below average looking guys with attractive women. I see less attractive men with attractive women. Attractive men are usually with average to below average women. I've lived in New York and FL so maybe my experiences are different. The fact that women care less about looks and more about money and resources shows that women are more superficial on average than men.

I don't think educating women on safe sex is controlling anyone and I don't disagree with you on the political aspect. You made the foolish choice to have a child in lieu of another man's unintended consequences, on average. I'm presuming most births are accidental and not intended in general. Least for single parenthood, no? It's both you and the father's fault in this dilemma.

You can have sex and enjoy all of that w/o having kids. look up women's health and birth control. The more you educate women the less likely they are to have children. Educate them on the responsibilities of safe sex and more importantly educate them on the philosophical underpinnings of bringing life into this world.

Instead of making the moral and correct choice which is to not have kids and focus on your career or your partner, you end up making it worse by having kids. I don't mean you, personally, rather you as in a whole of single moms. You're right. I can't assume he is / was a douchebag all the time. I can only assume the fault is usually with the single mom because you seem to statistically have more single moms than single daddy's. That's my intuition so don't take my word for granted. I wouldn't be surprised if my intuitions were predicated on actual statistics, though. In any case, we're not even discussing marriage. Single moms made the erroneous decision to have children with a douchebag. They possess poor moral intuitions and lack self-worth and self-love over the choices they make overall. Of course, there are exceptions to the rule. The same can be said with the douchebag father. But the douchebag father was charming / suave / socially aware enough to get it on with said mother. This is the case for most worthwhile things in life. Having children is not worthwhile, though. It's neutral. Neither good nor bad. It just is. Most people want their own kids, not other people's kids. I agree. But you have to consider that men are more willing to put themselves in a position to get with a woman who already has them. Women are actually right because that's true. Most men don't have the luxury of choosing their partner unlike women who have all the options in the world. Some people are just constantly not lucky in finding someone. Then simply don't have kids? It's that simple. The risk is obviously not worth it in the long run. Society should be paying people to not have kids and penalize single moms for having them. We should also penalize low income parents who have more than two kids and force them to pay heavy taxes. Kids are terrible for the environment and contribute to climate change. Not to mention destroy ecosystems and wildlife. I'm no innocent little turd, either. But I'm not sociopathic enough to contribute to…

I fail to see how being mature relates to this dilemma? I'm completely fine with doing things as long as I can see a reward with the risk. Unfortunately, as a man in today's world, the risk is higher than the reward itself. A main problem is that if you go out and do things you don't want to you're going to end up not finding like minded people who share similar values or personalities. I wish I could get childless leave for not having any kids. It seems everywhere you go it's just single moms left and right. We should be getting paid to not have any kids considering how we have too many of them right now. Kids complicate relationships and not for the better. Women who are childless should be getting more financial privileges than women with children.

Men outnumber women so your chances of finding available women IRL are no better than the apps. There really isn't a viable way to meet women aside from already having friends, coworkers, or being extroverted. Which not all of us have or are such.

They're horrible because we're not meant to designate someone's attraction on a photo with some bio. You have to feel out the person IRL. There are super attractive women who I've met in person at my workplace. but on FB in photos they look completely plain and I wouldn't swipe on them. Vibes only occur IRL. My Spidey Sense doesn't work on those bogus apps.

That's because you're a woman and don't know how it is to use the apps as a man. Any woman can meet someone on apps. They can be introverted, live with their parents, work a dead end job. You both are still independent people who love one another. Completely ridiculous how you human…
/r/PurplePillDebate30/05/24 01:08 AM

You're a small anecdote, though. I was thinking more of of evidence to the average. Also, you've had multiple relationships and presumably failed in them so depending on your success rate of keeping a relationship intact, it's not looking good on your end.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/05/24 12:59 AM

I don't but like I said that's just my intuition. I wouldn't be surprised if there were any actual research that suggests this is the case. I haven't been ruined or tainted by the hardships of relationships unlike 99% of everyone here. So I can or at least try to look at things as objectively as possible.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/05/24 12:56 AM

A high body count might show you're not trustworthy in a monogamous relationship. I'd like some empirical research that can prove people with higher body counts tend to be less trustworthy in relationships than those with low body counts. Or are at a more emotional risk of relationship satisfaction. I wouldn't be surprised at all if this were the case. This is just my strong intuition telling me this is so. I have no evidence for this mind you.

Why do you think we have such bad social skills? If the evidence suggests this is truly the case?
/r/PurplePillDebate29/05/24 01:58 AM

That's a different brand of marketing. They don't need that in order to get men. Men don't have a social media counterpart the way women do. I should elaborate that by saying women don't have to market themselves meaning they're already priceless products worth whatever men are willing to pay for.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/05/24 01:52 AM

You're an extremely rare minority report.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/05/24 01:29 AM

Men generally have good social skills. Not having 'game' isn't synonymous with not being able to talk to women. We live in a world where dating apps and social media have ruined social engagement for both sides. I also feel men are tired of playing the game and just want to be themselves.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/05/24 01:28 AM

/r/PurplePillDebate29/05/24 01:25 AM

Most relationships happen by pure luck and happenstance. Extroverts are easier because they put themselves into positions with a higher semblance of luck involved. The reason why many of us men don't want to market ourselves is because being ourselves is the true form of the product we're selling. Women don't have to market themselves so why should us men? I don't know about that. I know relationships where both just stay at home all day and do nothing. Both homebody introverts. I'd presume they started the dating thing by going out at first. But performing the 'masculine' aspect of a relationship has no sway as to whether both agree with how they wish to abide in their relationship. Consumerism and materialism among women is one of the worst cornerstones of Western society. Man is designed to be better and stronger than woman yet women want to be on the same playing field. You want a real playing field? Let's go into the woods or the jungle and survive the real way. Most of these six figure men and women wouldn't last a day. I'm not intelligent enough for school. I have extremely below average intelligence. I can't learn and have an extremely memory. I thought about going to college but some people are just not mentally cut out for school.

I'm not happy at all with what I'm doing. on weekends I don't do anything and I'm constantly bored. there's nowhere to meet other fellow gamers, though. I don't like sports or outgoing stuff. I just want to meet other chill, laid back introverts like me. sorta like back in HS with my friends.

I'd talk about just life or whatever. the same shit I talked about in class with my friends being a goofball and joking around. or just get to know them in a friendly way or whatever. I don't understand why going to these things would be such a detriment. you have no evidence to suggest otherwise.

what's weird about it? My hobbies put me in a position where it's limited to meet people. you're suggesting people do things they don't want to do in order to meet people. because doing activities is what makes you get friends and not talking to them?
/r/PurplePillDebate18/11/23 08:56 AM

I don't want to put this personally on me but I think men who are in my same situation as me shouldn't falsely pretend to be something they aren't. Some men are just better looking, more intelligent, and there are those like us who are literally on the lowest of the lows. There's no way out for some of us men. I agree that we shouldn't make excuses but us men should have realistic expectations with the failure of society and dating.

I don't read books. I said I like reading as in reddit, forums, Wikipedia, news, etc. just general reading shit. whether its educational or whatever. I agree a one-time thing wouldn't do much but maybe every so often I think it might work. there's no way to know w/o doing it.

Oh I'm not saying I've got it worse than most people, I'm just saying I'm in a bad situation. It's not as bad as all those people you've described. As far as dating/relationships are concerned everyone has made it abundantly clear that unless I amp up my status game I'm fucked. I think there's a threshold of badness as far as where your life is for dating/relationships. Those friends with their douche parents cutting them out they're probably in the same dating spot as me, if not better. Despite…

Well yeah but the point still stands I'm a fun guy to be around at work. I just despise sports and don't like doing anything else except playing video games and hanging out with my friends. My hobbies as a teen, walking around the neighborhood shooting shit with my friends, hanging out at their house, etc. hasn't changed at all at this age. I don't think I've ever met a single friend whom I met doing the same activities. Activities are after we got chemistry not before.

So every introvert's solution is to be as adventurous and exciting as possible for women if they don't make enough money?
/r/PurplePillDebate18/11/23 06:10 AM

All of my coworkers I've 'befriended' or were super friendly with and we didn't do a single activity together. We just had interesting conversations about stuff. I think you're way over estimating the idea that activities are what fuels friendships. If someone has chemistry with someone through chatting that's just as good as through sports.

I'm in a horrible situation. wat the fuck are you on about? Guys that live with their parents are worthless in the eyes of women. No I 100% agree with schools, colleges, work places. That's what I just said about stubbornly forcing people to come together and find the right people. You just provide an outlet for introverts or lonely people by a cookout or BBQ. Invite them and let them know they're welcome. No silly activities needed. That simple. You don't need 'activities' to bond with someone. What you bond with are their chemistry and their values. All of my friends from school I've bonded from this and not 'activities'…

Because what you're describing are specific venues of socialization. Which further specializes the medium of socialization and narrows it down. If you set up a large base of just meeting and talking to people then the successes are greater. This is why school is so effective at getting to know people, finding the right friends, etc. It stubbornly forces all kids to socialize and play together to find your friends. We don't have a kid version of that for adults. Activities not withstanding due to…

Absolutely. If the message or aim is to go out and find other people I think a lot would. Not most. But certainly far more than the usual amount. By this logic, introverts wouldn't be using dating apps. I fail to see why it supposedly works with apps but doesn't work with IRL. Dating apps make introverts feel more comfortable being confined to their phone. Lonely Festivals offer the same thing with the supposed supposition that you're meeting other fellow people like you who are also lonely. It'…

Large gatherings of the local neighborhood like BBQ's or cookouts. Places where people of the neighborhood can meet other people. Get to know each other, etc. A sense of bonding with people in the area. Or maybe have Lonely festivals where the local gov't has cookouts or festivals exclusively aimed to combat loneliness. With the open and direct message is to meet other people and get to know one another and be kind humans, etc. Shit like that.

I'm not interested in doing things I don't want to do to meet people. I like video games, reading, hanging out, and watching TV. I don't like sports and volunteering just to meet women sounds morally dubious at best. If I can't meet people through these activities and not the extroverted-dominated activities you've described then it is society's fault and not mine.

Your post sounds like it's biased to be extroverted and outgoing. This is something that I'm not. I'm happy being introverted and having hobbies that make me satisfied in life. I think the problem is that not all of us have that charismatic, outgoing personality. Dirty manual jobs may pay better but they're highly competitive in nature. I can't find any. As for your two incomes I suppose that's a reasonable assessment. By living with my parents I'm supporting them which I do. It's too expensive to live out on your own. Whether you're a man or a woman. There's nothing wrong with living with your parents if you can't afford a place of your own. Sure there's a correlation between laziness / lack of motivation and living with parents. How about we accept that living with your parents is completely okay and as long as both are working, finances are fine, then it doesn't matter. Okay. So I have money but it's not as much as the woman also providing. Why can women be at home but not the man? Or why can't a dumbass motherfucker like me work a crappy security job because I'm mentally unequipped for higher paying work. But no, us men are 'lazy and unmotivated' to move out of our parents because rent, and all those things you mentioned are too fucking expensive. I think it's women's failure for not accepting that they've spent most of their history as housewives. And now want to play strong independent female. But wont let the man be the 'housewife' of the household. Yet when a man has his own limitations and cannot get a higher paying job due to mental illness, or disability, etc. like myself they now want to over attenuate their necessity for a ambitious, unrealistic goal type of man. It’s stressful, impacts quality of life including health, and is a leading cause of relationship breakdown because of above issues. I think what you're describing is modern society. Nothing wrong with living with your parents or family. It's very normal outside of the US/UK.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/10/23 06:38 AM

Maybe this is a semantics argument but when you say attractiveness that could mean a million things. It could mean purely facial attractiveness, personality, humor, etc. I don't think that you can lump most of us into the category of socially awkward and ugly. I don't disagree that virgins are of universally low SMV. I just disagree that most are unattractive (face-wise). Maybe for the other reasons they are. Idk. I'm this way due to medical problems and nothing else.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/10/23 05:06 AM

More attractive people having sex at higher rates than unattractive people doesn't necessarily tell you about people who are still virgins in their 30s/40s. They could be just as attractive but for a million unspecified or unknown reasons are in the place they're at. That's what I'm getting at as far as creating a stereotypical pattern is concerned. One doesn't necessarily follow the other.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/10/23 04:51 AM

The problem is that there aren't enough in depth statistics on people like us to create such false assumptions. We don't have (to my knowledge) any statistics on effort, grooming, social skills / savviness, autism, facial attractiveness, age, etc. and taking all these variables and creating an objective statistical pattern across all cultures or areas. The data just isn't really there yet.

/r/PurplePillDebate02/10/23 03:35 AM

Almost every woman that I've met in my personal experience with a lot of noticeable tattoos are usually extroverted / adventurous, or LGBTQ. Both traits of which don't appeal to me. The former because I'm not an extrovert and the latter because I'm straight. I wonder if there's a positive correlation between the number of tattoos a person has and the similarities of personality.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/10/23 03:26 AM

There isn't anywhere to meet people. The places to meet people are in the places you don't match the same energy levels. For instance, I'm not a drinker / smoker. I don't like bars. I don't like traveling and prefer being at home or in one place to chill. I'm a low energy, chill person. I like socializing but most people out there are extroverts. There isn't anyplace to connect with people that match your energy levels. This whole world is extroverted dominated it's insane.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/10/23 03:09 AM
5

There's nowhere to meet people if your hobbies and passions are just gaming, reading, and hanging out at home. Also, I feel that another major problem is a lack of values. To find people to connect with who share the same values is far deeper and harder to attain than finding people to share a hobby together.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/10/23 03:08 AM
4

I make 24k a year and live with my parents and I can't seem to find a woman. I don't care if a woman makes more money or is more financially successful than me. I want to be with them because I like them. But to them it seems to matter quite a lot for some reason.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/10/23 03:06 AM
1

I want the government to create a place where people can meet other people more easily. And not these separated spaces of extroverts doing their own things with little room for introverts to feel comfortable.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/09/23 12:39 AM
1

So what is your solution to helping out introverts w/o forcing them be extroverts to find connection?
/r/PurplePillDebate26/09/23 12:35 AM
1

They really don't.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/09/23 12:34 AM
1

No but I'd venture a very large portion of people, both introverts and extroverts, enjoy video games. And I'd bet my money that a good portion of us would go to Arcades if they did exist to meet other likeminded people. The problem is there aren't any real life venues where people can play like going to a bar, a concert, a stadium, etc.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/09/23 12:32 AM
1

The problem is you're falsely conflating social awkwardness with having a disinterest with extroverted activities. I have good social skills and I despise sports and bars as I don't drink or smoke. There aren't any places to meet low key, chill, laid back people who prefer smaller groups or activities like gaming or watching TV / movies. I'm not an outgoing person but I still want to have connection with others.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/09/23 12:30 AM
1

I know they're bad. I was just using an example of how this might be the case for other people, mostly women. less so for men. In any case, you don't need hobbies to have a shared experience. you could make friends in school or at work. those don't require hobbies.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/09/23 12:28 AM
1

Yes, you must do extroverted things if you wish to meet people which is an extroverted activity. Your hope would be meeting another introvert who is doing this so you can then retreat together provided you're both amenable to that situation. This is wrong and I refuse on moral principle to change who I am as a person to cater to the majority and what they expect or want from me. I would rather die alone than change what I love about myself.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/09/23 12:27 AM
1

So here and we have the problem as to how we get society to be more of an equal playing field when it comes to introverts and dating? How do we foster a form of connection for introverts to easier or more comfortably access w/o the toxicity of dating apps? I don't know any introverted activities although I'd say gaming? Maybe writing?

It works for you because you're not most men. Where do you think most people meet their friends they make after college? Nowhere. Work, at the least. Do you REALLY think, that you being a virgin at 31, something that applies to <1% of men, having had no relationships, and no (?) current friends is because the world just changed? YOU are the extreme outlier in a world where peop…
/r/PurplePillDebate26/09/23 12:08 AM

Wrong wrong wrong. Dating apps are an example of how this isn't the case.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/09/23 12:05 AM

Dating and relationships are not just extroverted activities. You can find fulfillment and connection w/o doing sports or going out all the time and trying new things. The problem is that you think introverts don't enjoy social interaction and this is wrong on so many levels. We thrive on social interaction and connection. We just do it with other people who share our similar energy levels or at our own personal expense of smaller group circles. Society doesn't have that because even these clubs…
/r/PurplePillDebate26/09/23 12:04 AM

So you're suggesting instead of making the world fairer for introverts in connection and social interaction (in the real world) we should be forced to adapt to an extrovert-dominated world? I have to do things I actively don't enjoy just to take the risk of meeting other extroverts who don't share the same energy levels as me?
/r/PurplePillDebate25/09/23 11:59 PM
1

Why not?
/r/PurplePillDebate25/09/23 11:57 PM

Government has a responsibility to provide resources to its citizens to fulfill their emotional needs. Ie: community centers aimed and advertised for single people and introverts. That's all you need. Everyone in my age range is already taken and already has their friends / social circles set up from college and work. Nobody is interested in meeting other people these days. Doing extroverted things as an introvert should not be the way to approach social connection. People should have sources to…

Online dating doesn't work. Nobody is meeting friends in public places or bars or clubs, or at least the majority. Besides, I don't drink or smoke. Most of your social circles and friends have solidified in college / school or at work. You have to be charismatic and outgoing to gain friends doing activities that you don't like to do to meet people. Not all of us are A. extroverted / outgoing or B. charismatic. Not everyone is fortunate like you to have a strong social base and environment where …

No money or resources. It'd be nice to just go to a place to play video games and meet people or single women who are also into gaming. But these places don't exist IRL, sadly.

I do. I go to the grocery store a lot and go swimming when I'm off of work. Nowhere to make friends or meet single women in your 30s. I don't drink or smoke so bars are obviously out of the question. I like video games but there are no video game groups in the Tampa area. I dislike sports so sports are out of the question. I guess this leaves volunteering but volunteering for the purpose of finding a girl just doesn't sound moral to me.

How am I a troll? If the government literally advertises or creates a big cookout or whatever with the big slogan of 'single people come here!' or 'lonely people this way!'. That's going to get far more publicity and popularity than these smaller groups or clubs or whatever. Which would have far less people and less publicity / inclination to get other people. I'd probably make the national and local news. Are you kidding me?

And yet none of them are even as efficient as my own suggestion of getting the gov't to do it for us. Bring in the government to help us out. Gov't got money. Gov't got advertising. Gov't got us all by the balls. I'm just a small fry compared to what the gov't can do / is capable of.

Why don't you arrange a BBQ? Or a LAN party? Or book a movie viewing of whatever movie you like? Advertise those as single mingles. Ah, but that requires effort. Not only does it require effort. It requires time, money, resources. The gov't has more of this than just a single man. Also, the government does a better job advertising than a single person. Like I said, look up community centers, those are funded by the government. Plenty of old, lonely people have found groups of friends in those. T…

/r/PurplePillDebate25/09/23 04:55 AM

I never said I wasn't willing to participate but there's no means to participate with the current social climate. The gov't doesn't supply single meetings or large cookouts for the sole purpose of connecting the community. None of these things exist, dude. At least not on the scale of a large public gathering or rally where we're all connected with each other like in the past.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/09/23 04:48 AM
1

Because it's not advertised for the sole purpose of connection. That makes a HUGE difference in both the outlook and outcome. There are countless stories of people attending these things where it ends up leading nowhere but further loneliness. Joining groups you don't actively enjoy just to potentially meet people is a high risk of loss and a strong but small probability of reward outcome.

I was using the BBQ / arcades as examples of how the gov't could bring the community together. With the advertising label of 'meet single people here!'. Of course I have a personal bias towards it as I enjoy eating and gaming. I expect the government to provide to help single people or lonely people who are in need of aid and resources. Much like we expect the government to help victims in big natural disasters. Or those suffering from mental health or drug addiction. I agree that it takes voluntary commitment as an individual to get up your ass and do something. but it also takes the correct resources to make that person encouraged to use the resources to act. We don't have that.

I don't know what introverts enjoyed or didn't enjoy back then but what I do know is that creating a space and labeling it as 'meet single people here' is a good start to encourage them to get out. Such a gigantic, communal scale hasn't been attempted in such a direct means of advertisement so it's unfalsifiable to say that it wouldn't work for introverts. It isn't society's obligation to help you find a mate. I strongly disagree. It may not be a right to force everyone to be in a relationship to be happy. You can't regulate relationships via the gov't. In your 30s? Exceptionally difficult. and the government already sponsors events and spaces to make people feel less lonely Where?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/09/23 06:00 AM
2

I don't agree that some of us don't want to go outside. It's that there's no outlet to meet other people except unappealing places like pubs or hobby groups which don't cater to their hobby groups. We need a space like the Internet where the gov't can create or sponsor social groups to alleviate loneliness in people.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/09/23 05:57 AM
1

The point is to create a space to make people feel less lonely. If we live in a society where it's extremely difficult to meet people then the faults need to be addressed. I see nothing wrong with government sponsored events to bring people together. Whether for video games, or just socializing lonely people in general.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/09/23 05:55 AM
1

If it's exceptional then perhaps that shows the significance of its importance. I don't think helping people feel less lonely is being 'catered' to or 'entitled'. Perhaps you could elaborate on why or how this is and relates to moving for a job.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/09/23 05:42 AM
1

It's not entitled. It's asking for basic decency of oppurtunity w/o isolation. The opportunities should be equal to everyone. I don't want it just for me. I'm using me as an example of a broader problem addressing loneliness and a lack of support for bringing people together. We have no real community support. Video games are just a very small microcosm of a real and growing problem in the digital era.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/09/23 05:33 AM

Not necessarily. Just make it more convenient for people. That's all I'd ask. There are extroverted activities that are way more convenient and ideal for many people (sports, exercise, concerts). But there aren't for gaming in the real world.

But your problem is largely personal. If introverted people wanted to meet like-minded people at board game meet-ups, LARP events, book clubs etc., they could easily organize that themselves. There is no grand societal issue preventing these people from connecting to people in their preferred way. And yet, people are still lonely and want friends and people to share their experiences with them. Why is this? Or go to a movie or TV place and discuss / talk movies all day long with other movie fans. Maybe I could go to a university / college and discuss politics or philosophy. But that depends on your age group along with other factors as well. Sexual/ethnic minorities are proof of that Loneliness cuts through everyone regardless o…

I think there's a difference between expecting socialization on your terms only vs on the terms of society's predominance. I think both are equally flawed. Get society to stop catering to certain interests and focus on the interests of everyone. Like how the Internet has cultures and communities for everyone. Take that but bring it to the real world.

So what? Do people have a right to feel comfortable in their own skin when venturing out into the world?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/09/23 03:52 AM

It's not that simple. This has nothing to do with coddling, it's about making convenience for different types of people in society.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/09/23 03:49 AM

I didn't say that. Although to be fair I think humans are social animals so everyone equally needs to have some comfortability of healthy socialization. Whether they're introverts or not. This ties into your 'sucking it up' point.' The point I'm making in this context is the the world is dominated by extroversion and this dominance has created an asymmetric slant against those who aren't outgoing but still wish to connect with people. or have limited interests or hobbies that don't see the light…

I suppose that's a fair point on a personal level but it still doesn't address my main problems which are at large.

I didn't say there's no socializing where I live. I said there's no healthy means to engage in socializing via my hobbies and interests (video games, TV movies, science, debating politics / philosophy, etc.) Your anecdote is wonderful but it isn't an all-fitting glove to a multi-faceted problem.

Because taking precedence over familiarity should be a baseline of comfortability as opposed to taking risks with the potential damage of not getting a return in your emotional / social investment. It's healthy to do things you haven't done before, to try new things. But at your own expense w/o risking the risk of damage to your personhood or self-image. It also doesn't address the fact that we need more ways to get outliers to feel comfortable in their own skin in the real world. That's what th…

Well yeah that's obviously true but it shouldn't be for everything in life.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/09/23 03:25 AM

It's not an excuse it's just realism. If you think creating meetup groups is the solution to loneliness then either you aren't in the same position I'm in or you just lack introspection on how many layers this shit digs deeper. There's a difference between being introverted and finding a suitable space to meet people w/o the toxicity of dating apps. Or doing activities you don't like to do in order to accommodate society.

We would put in work if we had the materials to reap the fruits of our labor. There is no more connection in modern society.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/09/23 03:18 AM

The problem is there's nowhere to socialize or connect for everyone which is the main crux of my original post. Forcing someone to do something they don't like or feel comfortable doesn't solve the problem. You're essentially telling them that the reason why you're lonely is because there is something wrong with them. Sucking it up doesn't solve anything.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/09/23 03:16 AM

I don't know how else it gets resolved, this is why I'm asking you how we can solve loneliness. I have no solutions to the problem. I cannot afford to move, your anecdote means nothing. Many of us cannot afford to move.

I never said I'm outgoing in the extroverted sense. I just like talking to people. But there should be places in real life that allow us to cater to our hobbies (gaming, TV / movies) in order to do these things.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/09/23 03:10 AM

Being an introvert is now considered special needs? Shouldn't the purpose of curbing loneliness is to address common ground between everyone on all ends of the spectrum?
/r/PurplePillDebate11/09/23 02:50 AM

I don't think hosting an event would solve anything if people aren't going to join it. It also requires a base concept that would be popular enough for people to join it. I do appreciate the responses but they don't seem to shed light as to how we can fundamentally change society to make it more inclusive to lonely or introverted people.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/09/23 02:48 AM

I can't move because I'm not in a financial position to move. Nor can plenty of other people in similar situations as me, both men and women alike. Moving doesn't solve the problems, either. If people move it just re-shifts the direction of new lonely people into a new land like Lost in Translation with Bill Murray and Scarlet Johansson. What a needlessly callous response.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/09/23 02:45 AM

I believe they are but its the extroverts who are doing it. The problem is we need to redefine ways to get outliers to meet other people in ways that are comfortable for both us and them.

Aren’t there video games conventions and science symposiums etc that people go to? Not where I live. I imagine that one could find like minded people at lectures at the local community college or event space. Absolutely true. But the window for friends and finding a partner seems the greatest in your college years. For us in our 30s who have no experience or friends, this is not gonna look good. Environmentalists could join local stream cleanup groups/projects. Most towns have astronomy clubs. A…

I don't really have niche interests. I just like socializing and talking to people. The problem is all the activities that get you to do that (sports, bars, hiking, traveling, concerts, etc) I absolutely do not care for. I'd rather get together at a house party or play video games with people. Or watch some TV or a movie and have fun with it together. But you can't find anyone who's chill enough to do that because everyone in real life has their social circles already preset or they're extrovert…

Plenty of people enjoy talking about those things. But usually discuss about them in a "third place" such as a bar. I've been to bars and no they don't. The women at bars are usually taken and the guys are like middle aged dudes with their already social circles. It also doesn't help that I don't drink or smoke. Then why don't you host a community event? Go on to meetup.com with a particular interest you have in mind and see who comes? I don't know why people keep using that site as a barometer …

I meant anymore as in a means to socialize and connect pre-social media / Internet. Not specifically talking about that part (games, TV, science topics). Although, I do think the specialization of communities on the Internet is something that needs to be seen more in real life. We should be shifting gears from Internet subcultures / interests into the real world. Minus the toxic ones.

What if you already have confidence like myself but have no avenues to pursue healthy socialization in both a romantic and friendship context? mental health can be a good contributor to loneliness, there are other factors involved too. Some are beyond our control. Like your environment, luck, unconventional hobbies or interests, etc.

How is it mostly a mental health issue? Could you care to elaborate. Genuinely curious on your thoughts.

The problem isn't asking for people to be delivered to us like a service. The problem is that society's service is catered exclusively toward extroverts and extroverted activities. Outliers shouldn't have to do things they don't feel comfortable with in order to meet other people. This is also not a extrovert vs introvert battle. I love everyone of all kinds. But rather, there needs to be a means to get society to adjust people's openness on a scale where everyone can find a means to socialize a…

If someone's traits and interests are so unique and inaccessible to a great number of potential mates then they obviously do not prioritize cultivating a social life. I like video games, watching TV / movies, science, and socializing and discussing about the former three. I don't think there's any community outlet where I can meet other people that openly like to do that out in the world. Or maybe there is? I have forced myself to nightclubs which I hate just to hang out with friends. Sometimes …

There's nowhere to meet anyone in the real world. When I mean meet people I mean actually talk to single women or people that you vibe with that is into the same shit that you're into. There are no community dances or board game events to go to. At least to the extent of several hundreds if not thousands of attendees meeting others at once. And when people do go they're usually taken or are already interwoven in their own social circles. Why should we have to do things we don't like in order to …
