OK thank you. I'm going to keep trying to improve on assertiveness, also taking lead and making her feel positive about the me who is no longer as manipulable. Im thinking that all this withdrawing for bitchiness that leads to more bitchiness that leads to more withdrawal is a flawed cycle. Thanks,

can you elaborate? I am trying to identify what is positive and what is negative about what is occurring in my household.

so I am like post Rambo stage now. I got so tired of carrying my ego around and my wife was basically watching me effect assertiveness and it looked like someone being somebody they are not "a dwarf in giant's robes" to quote Shakespeare. I can't say what clicked but I really am through anger now and I feel like I am making actual gains that I am viewing objectively. I really needed to get through some stuff.

OK. very good advice, especially the last paragraph. I need to get beyond STFU and take charge as next steps, without entering back into her frame. Thanks,

OK thanks for the sanity check. I did a post about how not losing is almost as good as winning - which shows where I am at. I am building this foundation, but I fully understand that my assertiveness and taking control is very lacking. My biggest accomplishment so far was losing my reactivity to shit tests, which is a HUGE gain from me. Everyone starts somewhere.

Be a man and call her bluff. Better yet, disregard her bluff and take action from an independent mind. When I first started this process, I very nervously begun to do things for me that my wife disliked and so I would be chased by 20 text messages calling me all manner of terrible things which I just ignored. Then I would come home to a locked house. I would calmly find my way back inside and go to bed. VERY TOUGH breaking through that. The male hamstring was ridiculous. I am 90% through that. A…

she admitted to doing it over text because you texted her about it? Were you pissed off when you did? sounds like she is manipulating anger out of you because that's all she has. I would have just ignored it and been more careful. Also, that's not healthy for kiddo. Theres got to be a better arrangement than all of that.

No. Pregnancy is not best course. Worst course. All stop, away the anchor and all hands on deck. However, divorce #3 takes away the setting for the kind of work he needs to do. He should be ready for a good marriage 4 then lose this chica.

OP has been here twice before. he needs to learn why he keeps getting back here. advice of gtfo is not poignant until his body fat is lower

like a Jesus in the temple with all the vendors kind of thing. I agree.. but that is rare form, and also you still need to maintain frame while expressing rightful anger. rightful anger and loose frame is a slippery slope of unclear thinking. I guess I could qualify what I am referencing as emotional anger. sometimes justified, but also potentially destabilizing.

that's not possible really. you notice Tyson brings up Alexander the great and Ghengus Khan. his ideas of greatness are from models he has been exposed to. if you act independently from your culture entirely you are a crazy person. we say for dread wear nice clothes, smell nice, comb your hair. that's all cultural as well. I think reject the expectations of marketers and advertisements, understand that news and politics is what so.eone else wants you to believe. don't take people's assurances at…

so if you give an intentional silence to her you are in her frame (to an extent). if you feel blotted out then you are in her frame (to an extent). if you get pissed off and tell her to chill out this is your thing and then you feel (keyword 'feel') like you now have to pay the piper for exciting her, you are in her frame (to an extent). I think speaking truth that you can't possibly feel sorry about keeps you free. just say "I love you. how about (fill in the blank) for dinner tonight?" just en…

yes. I agree with all you say. the Tyson interview led my mind to wander however. specific cultures all have memes and mortays unique to them. on a macro level, our frame exists within the frame of our culture. there are two unique aspects of frame. one is the content, one is the quality of it being personal, I'll elaborate: (1) personal frame: your ability to withstand (albeit flexibly and like you say taking uncomfortable, quickly processing it, and remaining on your own terms.) (2) content: i…

Wow great interviews. You bring up some points that I want to address. (1) Tyson says that he imagines himself a certain way which allows him to be more than he really is. However, frame is not necessarily imagined. All I want is a deep rooted awareness of what I am, what I am capable of, what my goals are and what I need to do to achieve them. Tyson seems to imply a purposeful self-engradizing self-deception - but really it is more an ability to summon a profound reality rooted in the deepest m…

well I think that circumstances leading us to lose self control is impactful of the same thing within us as when it is people doing it. the treatment is also the same. staying calm, understanding your interests in the circumstance, controlling what you can control, and making the best decision available.

so last night the shit tests started to be dialled down and there were signals that she wanted me to instigate sex - but she wasn't going to close the gap that I've created. what I did was asked her about the various aspects of her and the kids day that I hadn't been briefed on, and i solved several problems through discussion. i ignored the shit tests. I drew up a meal plan for the next week and a half and engaged her to provide input. two nights ago we were at a thing with other couples at chu…

you penetrate to an extent. i am in process of rebuilding myself and my marriage. I find that I keep over playing and over reacting, so my exercise is to build basic level frame right now, and throw the ability to make sexualized retorts, AM, all that stuff when she stops trying to buck simple fogging and my acting self interested and not maluable as she is accustomed to further i do over emphasize the me vs her but that was to draw a binary picture of frame control for simplicity. i dont mean t…

I tend to cut alcohol out completely because when I have two drinks a day, it turns into 6 by the end of the weak. Its too much of a feel good retreat from the anxieties of life. And of course I smoke when I drink so then Im smoking cigarettes every night. Awful stuff. I just got back from a trip to Europe with wife on vacation and it was all wine and cigarettes. That was two weeks ago, and it took me a week after getting home to develop the will power to stop. I knew I was going to stop, so it …

we share interest in the kids. we share a desire to make money. entrepreneurship and real estate. we like to travel abroad together. we have some common shows we like such as got, Vikings, outlander. I like highly active hobbies like mma training and lifting. I also like to read nonfiction, watch "films", cook without a recipe telling me what to do, listen to music that's interesting -sometimes classical or world music, learn new languages and occasionally play video games (mostly to connect w m…

find a competition for kickboxing and start training for it. opportunity for withdrawal. opportunity to invest in you. opportunity to get into best possible shape. When I started training in jujitsu again after not doing it for years my wife was so pissed. "how much does that cost? what activities do I get? FUCK you!!" totally ignored her and just went. felt great. won a tournament a little bit ago. now she finds it attractive and there is dread because of the females in the jujitsu circles etc.…

would have if I could have. I don't have that kind on control. hated breaking plans. I agree with what most people are saying and my error was using gtfo when the greater mission should have been prioritized over teaching my wife a lesson. teaching the lesson at the expense of the mission was a poor tactical choice.

very good thank you. I think I would have done it differently now. it's very difficult when she brings the kids into ie I tell him get in the car she yells at him don't you dare get into the car
/r/askMRP16/09/17 06:50 PM

interesting... so as I stated my problem has been being too engaging. that doesn't work and I get heated that's why I've been switching to stfu and gtfo.
/r/askMRP16/09/17 06:47 PM

I understated the extent of her hysteria. it was proper gtfo. I regret the broken plans but they were a product of her tantrum. not my preference. It was proper use of gtfo unfortunately there were collateral consequences. kids still got to soccer. She missed brunch.
/r/askMRP16/09/17 06:31 PM
1

that would not have worked. my wife would have become hysterical if I just left and she would have ordered the older boy to not go. then it would have been me telling him one thing and she telling him the opposite. I left because that's what happened. She was raving and screaming in front of the children to get her way. the only option was gtfo.
/r/askMRP16/09/17 06:24 PM
1

we were at home. we were going to go in two cars and my wife leave after getting there. I left by myself forcing her to take both boys to soccer and forgetting her brunch.

so maybe you're ahead of me. what comes after anger? I'm in new territory. the wife at times is allowed to think she walks on me but collectively I'm highly indifferent

as long as u r getting angry something not working. getting to the point of divorce, knowing I'm capable of it, and deciding I don't want to do it for my own reasons was empowering. now instead of getting mad and saying I want out bla bla bla I just ignore her when she acts out and I'm not getting worked up like I used to. hope that helps

I think that when I was sitting at the precipice I got a enw perspective. I realized that I really did not want to divorce. The pros were id be single and free and not nagged and shittested all the time (until the next one). The cons were she would fight for my real estate and possibly try to take our boys out of state because my career is so inconsistent with requirements that a court would not think it is the best circumstance for children. I believed that I had not done everything that I coul…

That's true. I fully intended to proceed until I decided not to.

That's the point though. When I did this I was literally sitting outside the courthouse with divorce papers to file and had to make a hard realization that I had changed the playing field so drastically and rapidly with my wife that I was drawing lines in the sand that she was not ready for and my refusal to bluff led me to the courthouse. That was about when Rambo ended and I decided that what was at first RP warped into ego. I knew that I would not find a different partner that would be "bette…

I'm not sure it is a fantasy. Just to round out views here. It could very well be a strategy for controlling you. If you reciprocate you move into her frame. She realizes it is horseshit but at the same doesn't think about it enough to realize that she realizes it is horseshit. It is intentional self delusion with the aim of controlling the frame and narrative by conning you into joining her. recommendation if this resounds: be a little cynical enough to let her realize that you are and will alw…

my wife does stupid shit like that. Theres too much that goes into it to understand. Maybe she feels she doesn't deserve a bike and it was an odd comfort seeking thing. Maybe she wants to buy something similarly priced and doesn't think you would like it if she did, so she is telling you don't buy the bike instead of telling you what she wants. Good job on not engaging!

You should do supplements, quicker gains, better recovery. Do a good creatine (the monohydrates tend to make me feel more bloated than lean), an amino acid sports drink (BCAAs) and a multivitamin. I don't like any of the supplements that are supposed to give you energy. Feels like fake energy and makes me anxious and harder to get an erection haha. If you want to get lean, do a kitogenic diet, lots of protein, minimal sugars/simple carbs. You can use a protein shake if you want. Its cheap per gr…

you can take a look at the efficiencies of what you are doing. I do my lifting during lunch, and usually just have a bag of jerky or a shake before or after. As an example of where to get an hour back.

Thanks. I take it you were restrained in your response. Yes, there is a lot in what you say. I feel like if I can classically condition her to understand that there is no favorable outcome to tantrums that she will adjust well. We also have two small children. Sometimes I think the challenge is exacerbated by needing to take care of them - there is a need to interact that would not be there if it was just the two of us. Perhaps my post should have focussed on that dynamic.
