In my experience, a good example is with sexuality and how we define people. I am a gay male, but to me I have no true identity. Being 'gay' by definition is liking the same sex, yet being 'lesbian' is a female homosexual. I have struggled with this because I feel not having a name for my specific sexual identity is a form of inequality established after the feminist movement.
