Thanks, I think in the end it comes down to my demeanor. This issue has been affecting me at work as well. And although I know I wouldn't want to be friends with a bunch of my coworkers outside of the office, I still need to be able to be social enough to have good work relationships. Some how I need to learn how to relax with them. My default attitude with people I don't like and feel close with is to kind of shut them out, but you can see why that can be damaging in a work environment

Yup, very familiar with both plus more :) but learning to be comfortable when sober is more aligned with my goals

Yeah I can definitely relate to that. I grew up a huge soccer player and play with lots of confidence on the field, but really wish I would be able to have a grounded confidence in situations that are even outside my comfort zone

I do have my best friends that I click with and can open up to. It's more of an issue with new people, where I'm not able to shoot the shit so that makes it harder for me to bond and connect with new people. One prime example, I went to play intramural ball a few hours ago with a buddy of mine, and he's out there laughing and opening up with others while I'm just kinda mute and serious lol.
