If you agree why did you call women deadbeats if they don't want kids? It's a shame men are considered deadbeats for not wanting kids, but we should aim to fix that, not just call women deadbeats too.

If a woman doesn't want a child and she has an abortion I would not call her a deadbeat. I would say she's making the right decision by getting an abortion. In addition, I don't think men who don't want children should be called deadbeats either.

I didn't stop out TO smoke weed. I've been smoking it now and then since I was a young teenager. I actually dropped out because my daughters mother convinced me to transfer schools to be closer to her and a month after being home I found out she had been cheating on me the past 2 semesters. I lost motivation. Not blaming her, it was my choice to drop out, and I plan to go back. Just money issues now.

The problem is, in my ex's eyes, my daughter already has a good dad (her new boyfriend). It makes me completely unnecessary. I do try my best to keep a presence in her life. There's been times she's called me when she felt she couldn't go to her mom. We text sometimes (can you believe six year olds text now?), it's just short quick texts to let her know I love her and see how she is. I'm just frustrated I feel so useless.

You have a point but... I know my daughter has everything she needs and she's treated well and surrounded by people who love her. It makes me feel guilty for criticizing her mother. She makes me feel like I am intruding on HER happy family. It's sickening.

I am listed as the father. I did not file any sort of fathers registry (excuse my ignorance, I didn't know that sort of thing existed). I should have specified I'm not American. I am Canadian. I think you're right about the marijuana, it will just hinder my chances. Thanks for the sound advice. My friends and family are supportive but lawyers cost money and we just really aren't sure how to proceed.

It kills me because when I do get to spend time with my daughter she is SO excited and never wants to leave. She shrugs off whatever negative things her mom says because she likes being with me. It's not fair to either of us. I do think a healthy relationship could still be possible, I'm just extremely frustrated.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
