Granted, but that is the risk one takes when getting married. Maybe the entire approach to marriage is skewed for both sexes and needs to be examined on a sociological scale. It would have been better suited to post this study under this subreddit and topic. But dissatisfaction with excessive choice crosses gender lines. For my part, I have never encountered anyone I know personally who has gotten a divorce under this pretense. Maybe there is a correlation between the types of men and women who …

I agree that on average women are typically given custody of the children. I agree that some women may abuse this system. I'm not sure if it has been proven how many women have abused this system, but I think its a little extreme to generalize that women get divorced just to screw over their husbands. I mean it just sounds diabolical and exaggerated. I'm sure just as many women are trapped in bad marriages for the same reasons : afraid of losing their children, being portrayed as unfit, or incom…

I'm starting to feel that way too. Maybe they should change the name to anti-female/anti-woman subreddit.

Also, it works the same way for both sexes. Men leave women all the time.

You're taking the assumption that is always the case when that is simply not true. That's a fallacy. People get divorced for many reasons and to claim men are always the victim is the same as saying women are always the victim.

I'm currently taking a social psychology course where this phenomenon was being discussed. There are many factors in play here but mainly excessive choice causes decreased satisfaction and depression. Many studies have been done on this : Inglehart and Well 2005. Christopher Hsee and Reid Haste 2006. Lyenagar and Pepper 2000. Basically excessive choice will lead to second guessing ones personal decision and feelings of "what if." But can someone please explain why this is in Mens Rights anyway? …

Thank you. I agree whole-heartedly. She is in desperate need of emotional support and because she's not getting it from any other source she is depending far too much on the OP. This is a very sensitive critical situation which is why I am offering my support to the OP's ex if he would like to make that available to her.

Ok, let's assume she is pregnant with your child instead of arguing that its probably not yours. it wasn't this way in my case, but I can try to relate and assume that the reason she may have gotten pregnant is too fill an enormous empty void of love and acceptance in her life. Now, I'm not saying this is the right way to go about it, but she seems like she maybe feeling so desperate and out of control this maybe her only chance for "salvation" through motherhood. if you're willing to to raise a…

Ok. I have to comment because this sounds exactly like a situation I was in many years ago. Except I was the "crazy ex girlfriend" in this case. It shames me to say, (not my proudest moment) but I can't deny the truth. I chose not to have the child, nor did I get pregnant on purpose. And I was indeed pregnant with the ex that I desperately wanted to keep in my life. It sounds like you both are young and in a complicated situation way over your heads. I know its convienent to throw slings and arr…
