I worked at a tech company in Vietnam. The celebrate both International women's day and a national women's day. They do it big. We put lots of time/effort/money into both. Flowers, gifts, catered lunch, etc. For Men's day, we all got a piece of fruit. The company was about 50/50 men to women.

Yeah. There's a programmer at my work that everyone dotes over because "she's a woman in tech", but I was the one working with her and had to deal with her bad code. I brought up some of her bad practices and told her it wouldn't work going forward. I got reported for bullying and nearly lost my job. She's totally shielded from any criticism now and held on a pedestal even though her code is worthless. I'm currently on the hunt for a better position.

wellll, I've know way more people to die in a car wreck than by being raped. A car wreck, cancer, gun shot, and etc. are all things notorious for taking lives. All understandable to use the term "survivor." I don't want to mitigate the harm caused by sexual assault but survivor seems like a big leap.

Just a bit of a side note, but does it bother anyone else when someone uses the term "sexual assault survivor?" Like, it isn't inherently deadly like cancer. Hell, I've dealt with serious depression which probably has killed more people than rape, but I don't claim to be a "survivor." Just seems to be a way to garner a bit more sympathy.

Well I think that in the event of a draft, they don't want to have to hunt down the names pulled in a lottery. The Registration gives them a current record of where they are. Remember, there's not really an all inclusive database for people under 18. people move around a bunch. They may not even know if you're still alive.
