I started saying I was going to have boys a year before I even got pregnant. I kept telling my husband we were going to have 3 boys. After the second one was born, people asked my husband if we were going to try for a girl. He said hell no, he wasn't having three boys. LOL.

I would not have traded my boys for the world.

you brought up the discomfort of a vaginal birth. I pointed out that I have had one. In other words, I already know about having a vaginal birth first hand.
/r/MensRights26/08/12 03:58 AM

What does that have to do with anything? you're the one who brought it up.

Can I get a citation for that? http://www.pregnantpause.org/safe/stakes.htm http://www.physiciansforlife.org/content/view/836/26/ At any rate, your chances of vaginal discomfort are much higher with live birth. I've had a live birth thanks as well as a c section.

actually your risk of death is higher with abortion than with birth.

Just want to point out - Libertarian, not libertarian. there is a difference between Libertarian the political party and libertarian the concept. Small L if you are not talking about the party itself but the concept.
/r/MensRights25/08/12 04:38 PM

self defense is the only legitimate reason to kill another human being. Babies have separate DNA and are separate humans. The time for choice is before a third party is involved!

There is a lot of news of women's issues and reproductive rights in the mainstream media right now. I would posit that not enough attention is paid to the reproductive rights of men. Partly because every liberal guys believes in "a woman's right to choose". When men start fighting that one and demanding their rights then things will change. I recently saw a thread on the abortion issue, I think it was in the libertarian reddit. guys there were taking the "libertarian" view on right to choose. I …

As a female I would NOT agree with the above. Seems like a list of I want to do what I want without consequences. I'm also sure that men could come up with just as long a list. a strong female is a bitch Not really. None of the men I know would consider me a bitch by any stretch yet all would agree I am a strong female. You can be strong and still be kind, thoughtful and caring. That goes for both men and women. The strong men I know are not dicks and the dicks are usually insecure.

there is a lot in that book that will blow you away. Just a new way of looking at things even if end up not agreeing is always beneficial.

yes the mother acted despicably. she has taught her daughter that it is ok to assault another human being because she is female.

for what it is worth I taught my boys to defend themselves against everyone. In general, don't hit girls. Right or wrong it will be held against you however you are allowed to defend yourself. FWIW my boys actually practiced this with male as well. They felt no shame walking away from a fight unless it was forced upon them. Then they defended themselves.

Why is was it written into law to be deemed necessary to write on all bills that they included maternity coverage? and as a follow up I have a feeling had it been the other way (prostate or something), that women's groups would have been whining and complaining about having to pay for males. ... I think as a male I'm tired of being blamed for societies ill's and then expected to "foot" other peoples bill. Yes the pendulum has swung too far in the opposite direction. Hopefully it will swing back …
/r/MensRights06/06/12 08:08 PM

But there is another conversation within that. Based on uncontrollable factors, who foots the bill? and what about race. Do we charge blacks more for healthcare because they have more diabetes and high blood pressure?
/r/MensRights06/06/12 03:07 PM

interesting. The first article says that we are higher cost because we go to the doctor more and live longer. I'm sure we live longer because we go to the doctor more. does this mean men get cheaper rates because they graciously die early? They also say that women are paying higher rates based on gender. I would say though that a difference between health care costs based on gender and car insurance based on gender is that the health care issue is some what our of our hands. I can not control wh…
/r/MensRights06/06/12 07:44 AM

They should start the rates the same for EVERYONE and then look at each individuals record over time to decide how much to charge. I could live with that. By that logic, females should then pay more for their insurance since they are more of a "cost risk" to healthcare. If it could be proven that they are a greater risk. I don't think auto insurance could quite be compared to health care. Health care has many more factors than driving. But I suppose if a legitimate system could be devised that w…

well drives insurance should be charged on statistics. If it can be proven that say male drivers are more prone to accidents then I'm fine with them being charge more since insurance is based on risk. Age can also be a factor besides gender.

all coverage should be blanket coverage. we can't start carving our coverage based on gender. Many diseases are gender specific or should my coverage be less because I'll never get prostate cancer, testicular cancer etc.

no I'm not, that's my point. Men do get breast cancer just not in the numbers women do. Women do commit suicide but not in the numbers men do. Why Women Are Less Likely Than Men To Commit Suicide ScienceDaily (Nov. 12, 1998) There are roughly 30,000 suicides in the United States each year, and three-fourths of those are men.
/r/MensRights26/05/12 01:05 AM

it is not gender neutral any more than breast cancer is. It may effect both genders but it is predominately in one gender.

men in general commit suicide at greater rates than women yet it receives no attention because it is a male issue. another straw that will soon break the camel.

Definitely a legitimate concern here in California. We voted in a feel good save the mountain lions proposition and now we have them EVERYWHERE. Seems like every year we have attacks on humans along with an abundance of missing pets. One lion was killed and they found its stomach full of porcupine quills. How hungry was that cat? that said I think the greater fear should be for rattle snakes if you are walking in the country side here.

Donahue had a show on back in the 70s I think. guy on there wore skirts. I think his were long skits too. He was there talking about men's rights. I had forgotten about this until this story. He also had a show on about a woman who had her kids taken away for breast feeding them until age 5. The Time cover brought that one back. I guess he was more ahead of his time than we knew. At some point, one has to wonder what these eleven women are doing having kids with a guy they know has no ability to support them. I hear that because it had to be done on purpose. One does not have that many kids by accident.
/r/MensRights19/05/12 06:31 AM

talk about twilight zone. I could have sworn this was the men's rights subreddit. and what exactly is wrong with a stay at home dad? or do you think that women shouldn't stay home either? maybe you should only marry women who are upwardly mobile? your gender bias is showing.

first of all, there is nothing wrong with strippers and nothing wrong with dating someone who works in a bar. this was back in the mid 80s when Chippendales were all the rage.
/r/MensRights09/05/12 06:38 PM

I remember one time I was dating this guy who worked at a local bar. They were having one of those male stripper nights and he invited me to come to the show. I showed up and sat alone at a table since he was working. After the show I discovered he was going home with someone else. I wasn't expecting exclusivity but still, just seemed wrong.

well the incident I was thinking of seems to have vacated my head at the moment. sigh, I'm having one of those days. I do think it takes slightly different forms when men do it, but I think it happens quite often. I'll come back if my brain fart fades.

It was a playoff softball game, given that she seems to be interested in sports, maybe you would have been better served inviting her to the game. Hard to judge these kinds of things from a blurb on the internet.

First, you really don't know why she lied. Maybe she didn't want to say "I've started my period and I'm bleeding all over the place". That aside you are probably better leaving this one alone. If you had other plans, why did you try for a date that night? I mean really, how important were these plans if you were willing to set them aside for a casual date?

you should hold the door, etc. for anyone one you want to be nice to, male, female or other. which is really what I practice and what I taught my boys. If you are the first one to the door, hold the door for those behind you. If someone in front of you has a disability of some sort, old, hands full etc., jump in front and get the door to be of assistance. It was never a gender thing, just polite behavior.

but he's also sort of sensitive and takes it to the extreme meaning of what I said. He often selectively listens to what is being said and takes from it what he wants to hear. Maybe but doubtful. Women read between the lines. It is in our nature. We pick apart what was said to find hidden meanings and agendas. Men have versions of that but over generalizing they tend to be upfront and direct. instead of jokingly joining them, why not jokingly come to his defense? Make a joke about how you'll beat them all up if they don't stop disparaging your man. Again, it will seem like some unimportant little thing, but it will really mean a lot to him. OH exactly! bravo!

Okay, so I've found that when I'm with a group of guys, I tend to act like a stereotypical "bro" to be included, doing things like teasing my boyfriend, giving him a hard time etc. I have issues with that. Reducing men to a stereotype is just wrong for one thing and emasculating your SO is also wrong. Playing in politics I associate with a lot of men. I've always taken pride in the fact that I am included in the male circle. I used to say I was treated like one of the guys but really I'm not nor…

A female word of caution on that one, though I agree with your approach, staying will possibly be perceived as a sexual interest in one of the moms. Shouldn't be that way but the guy must be prepared for that possibility.

segregation isn't necessarily bad. Studies have shown that boys do better in gender segregated schools. People tend to segregate themselves naturally. Separate but equal is not a bad concept it just has been given a "bad name" because of its role in the Jim Crow era. There is a big difference between forced segregation and voluntary segregation.

Feminism is the struggle for equality between the sexes, which also seems to be what the goal of this men's rights movement is. That is what we are lead to believe but no feminism is not the same thing. I would suggest you read the book The Myth of Male Power. Oh yes, people that can't afford it are just greedy people. I drive a 92 Honda with nearly 300,000 miles on it. I have a dumb phone, last dumb phone I had was 6 years old when I bought a new one. I bought a cheap house that desperately needs repairs. I have no credit cards. I don't eat out, I don't go to the movies. My one luxury is my cable internet. But hey, I should have cut my budget more so I could home school.

As the mother of two boys I can tell you the schools are not set up to handle boys, the gender bias is astounding if not out right shocking. The horror stories I could tell you.
