Well, now you have an opportunity to explain how this shit works to her. Was he a jerk accepting gifts under these circumstances? Probably. Was she entitled to a relationship because she gave him gifts? Definitely not. Sure, it's tragic, but it's not like it would be right to force him into a relationship that he doesn't want. This works both ways, and it doesn't really matter what gender the participants are.

So far as I can tell, she's jumping from several random internet people a day calling her names (many of whom self-identify as MRM activists,) to thinking that all of MRM are like that. Personally, if I were targeted by all of this crap, I wouldn't want to debate anyone that identified themselves that way either. Incidentally, I find it ironic that you are arguing against overreaching generalization here, while defending SpeakToTheSky's generalization of all of feminism above.

Agreed, the refusal to recognize legitimate topics by even the non-frothy leaders is a serious issue that should be changed. I'd think that reasonable people in both the mens rights and feminist movements would want to do something about this, as it de-legitimizes the speakers as well as the ignored topic.

I completely agree. The public image of the MRM is the biggest stumbling point. If it is ever to become a mainstream movement, it must embrace the aspects of the mainstream, and even of feminism that are worthwhile. This struggle isn't about us vs them, but about reaching what is fair. Otherwise, the pendulum of oppression would just swing the other way again.

All feminism is female supremacism. This is exactly the stereotyping people here complain about being leveled at the MRM. Statements like "all x conform to stereotype y" is a good indicator of a strong bias. The more bias you express, the less valued your statements are to an objective outsider.

She generalizes because this vitriol is the face of the MRM that has been exposed to her. As of the time of this comment, I've seen nothing in this thread that doesn't prove her point about being harassed. If this group isn't about equality, then it is no better than the female supremacists so frequently featured in its posts (most often generalized as feminists.)

That's what triggered the protests, not what they were about. They were about slut-shaming and the perception that rape victims are at fault for the crime committed against them. Rush's words are pretty textbook slut-shaming, and serve well to illustrate just how ridiculous it can get.

If not fitting into social expectations makes you oppressed, then every damn person on the planet is oppressed and the word no longer has meaning. Exactly. I'd viewed that as an economically advantaged youth perspective, rather than a female one. Comics have lots of that. What makes you say it's a female point of view, anyway? Kyriarchy is a complex idea. Sinfest isn't bad at portraying it actually. Much like the effect in real life, there are aspects where members of any group can point to and say "look, I'm being oppressed". Both /r/MensRights and /r/Feminism are guilty of this to one degree or another.

He's satirizing everything, in various strips. I'd say this strip does a good job of satirizing feminism. What makes Sinfest great is the ability of the author to take simple stereotypical characters and talk about complex issues with them.
