False equivalency. There, that's one argument out of the way.

This is one reason why virtually nobody takes this movement seriously.

They all like to say (I have seen the argument made several times) that its equivalent to female genital mutilation WHERE THEY COMMONLY REMOVE THE CLITORIS ALTOGETHER. If male circumcision involved removing a portion of the head of your dick, I'd be totally on board. I just think they're trying to make it into a bigger issue than it is to push an agenda. I don't plan to circumcise my children, if I have them, male or female. I won't be advocating for ANYONE ELSE to make this same judgement call,…

I literally got banned from r/feminism in a thread specifically asking men what turned them away from feminism. My onerous comment? Making the argument that there is a degree of truth to the idea of "gender essentialism," the idea that "men and women have inherent, unique, and natural attributes that qualify them as their gender." I suggested in my original comment that in my experience, large portions of the feminist movement tended to degrade the very idea of femininity, rather than reclaim wh…

I would assume the judge would simply keep putting her on probation/extending probationary period once she gets out of jail after having to stay longer after violating probation.

Plus 3 YEARS probation, during which time she will have to wear a device that will immediately record if she intakes any alcohol whatsoever.

Yep. It's by that bar that does the battle of the bands every so often, name escapes me. I just moved back a few months ago, so I'm not entirely familiar with the area yet.

I have no problem with that if that is the case, though I certainly don't agree. Activism is not the defining aspect of my life. I prefer to try and make change with my words and personal interactions as opposed to with my measly wallet. The reality is my dollar buying power is virtually insignificant to whether or not this cafe continues to operate. A $4 cappuccino once or twice a month does not affect the bottom line of an establishment. EDIT: Also, "attacker"? Give me a break.

In the city of Milwaukee? Please. Plus, I prefer cappuccino/espresso if I can get it. Also also, it is fairly convenient to find a parking space for this particular cafe compared to several other similarly located ones.

They make good coffee and I've never felt personally unwelcome there, despite being a 6'1" white male. I'm mostly being hyperbolic.

Yo, I live in Milwaukee and go to this cafe every once in a while. I'm probably going to keep going there. I don't really care to make any personal judgement calls about this guy filming, but that's one of, if not the most, outwardly liberal cafes in the entire city if Milwaukee. This is not the place to pick this fight, first of all. Second of all, their responses to his attitude and tone are completely understandable, even if I don't agree with them. Hell, that cafe is one step away from being…

Thanks very much for your thoughts, this is really useful stuff. Ties into historic male "privilege" in a realistic way. Additionally, I've already been thinking that a cabal of powerful women orchestrate these events to consolidate their positions of power, and these are great mechanisms for them to amorally utilize.

Lol okay. Sounds totally different, but thanks for contributing. Quick Google search says that it takes place in a women's prison and women have inexplicably fallen asleep across the world. Not similar at all.

Well, dude, 47% of jobs are gonna be automated in the next twenty years or so. https://www.wired.com/brandlab/2015/04/rise-machines-future-lots-robots-jobs-humans/ What do you expect those people to do? You can either pay for their ghetto lifestyle (which is really, pretty fucking cheap) or they'll just take it from you with guns and violence. There really is no third option until the pragmatically and economically useless subset of society dies off. Frankly, it's too easy to survive these days …

It's all good, my guy, no need to get upset. I understand it's a charged subject. The reality is that there literally is no objective truth. Relativity confirms this notion. Literally, observation of a thing has an affect on said thing. We literally shape the reality around us when we observe it. It's basically child's play to dismantle any attempt to codify objective reality. Look at Socrates, hes basically a homeless dude and even he can tell that all attempts at objectivity are basically just…

S'all good. Like I said, it's mostly a metaphorical position anyway (for many). No one here will like me saying this, but it's a basically a safe space for dudes to vent and not get blowback. When they say "all women are like that", they mean the "average woman" is absolutely like that, and it's just nice to have somewhere to be able to say it, just like women have their spaces to say "men are pigs." Many of us feel that mainstream media, social and otherwise, unfairly censors the male point of …

Mmm. I get what you're saying, but I disagree with your target of "postmodernist" thought. Postmodernism was mostly an art movement, only vaguely philosophical, and realistically, almost entirely apolitical. You can USE postmodernist thought in manipulative ways, but I would argue that it's HARDER to do so than, say, rational enlightenment philosophy, or old school religious doctrine or deism. It just so happens that at the moment, the zeitgeist of Western culture is gynocentrism, and we also ha…

I can only speak for myself. This shouldn't be a movement, because it's men go THEIR OWN WAY. Not OUR own way. That isn't the point. We're individuals, not a collective. So, personally, I am 25 years old, have had several LTR in my short life, and am currently actively opposed to getting involved with women in general or the dating scene whatsoever. I am training to be an EMT, and hope to one day end up as a firefighter with a respectable salary and great benefits. My passion is to be a writer, …

Totally on board with such a program. Never gonna happen, but I would personally support it. Frankly, I feel everyone should be able to get paid like $250 or so to get sterilized. Buffer the coming resource shortages from global warming a little bit.

My irritation is I'm more than capable of being witty, but those conversations are a two way street. But then they get shit like hunger games and twilight, where the main features of the MC is that she has absolutely no personality and has no good dialogue. Obviously the intent is for every Mary Jane Boringname to be able to see herself as the protag, but this is the end result. They think they Bella deserves vampire guy and sexy wolfman, even though she offers them absolutely nothing.

Sure, but then when the water dries up (read: gets salty) they're going to be the first to go. And they'll try to get in on the freshwater sources in the west and the u.s., but everyone on the coast will already be competing to get access to said freshwater reservoirs. India and the middle East will be the worst hit, since it's mostly desert and northern India gets almost all of it's freshwater from the Himalayas runoff every summer. Once that ice melts it melts for good, and they'll all be fuck…

You think it's bad now? Just wait a couple decades until the sea levels rise enough to salinate a healthy portion of the freshwater reservoirs. This is what it's like at the absolute height of resource prosperity. Think how these people will act when they literally can't afford water.

You're entitled to your own opinion. I disagree with it pretty strongly, but you seem like a fine guy, so I'll leave it at that, and try not to get personal. To be clear, I don't really care to discuss this any further, but I'll try to clarify my point for my own self-aggrandizement. I'll just say, I did nofap for like 3 months a few years ago, and it was awful. Wasn't difficult, honestly, once I made the decision to really commit to it. But it made me a lot less emotionally balanced and despera…

Porn makes masturbation a lot quicker and, imo, more satisfying. There. Now is that easier to read than when I put it in my original comment? Look. I grew up Catholic, so forgive me if I'm a bit sensitive to someone trying to high road me about what I do behind closed doors with my downstairs parts. But it takes me a long ass time to get off with just my imagination, and our brains as men are wired to get off with visual stimulation. I really think that you're making a mountain out of a molehill…

Right, but I have a biological urge and functional neurological addiction to ejaculate. It is highly impractical to be totally celibate and never masturbate once you've been doing it for a while, or had had any regular period of having sex. Porn makes masturbation a lot quicker and, imo, more satisfying. As many men on this sub like to say, "most MGTOW are one blow job away from taking the blue pill." If I can spend ~15 minutes a day to take care of those urges, and it helps me avoid wasting my …

About a year ago I went over there because they had a post asking MEN what was turning them away from feminism. I replied that masculinity and it's example set forth for me in culture has been, on the whole, a pretty great thing to live up to, and has been a valuable and worthwhile thing for me to aspire to. I went on to say that 1) I don't like it when women try to "save" me from their idea of "toxic masculinity", because it's condescending and a little personally frustrating because I have fou…

Yo, I really, really hate the mob justice mentality (because it's often centered around some tortured dog and everyone's just got the upsetsies real bad) but he's absolutely right. I'm never a fan of punishment for punishment's sake. That's not justice. Punishment should be a path towards future realization and improvement, ideally inspiring guilt in the punished individual over their actions. But in this case, he's absolutely right. This is so downright evil and fascist, they should just take a…

Well, I'm trying to make a financially stable life for myself that will last past the 60% rate of automation of jobs in the next fifty years. Many men won't make the time to do that and stay healthy, they'll spend it on women. Hopefully, when THAT wall hits society, it'll make something of a difference.

Right but it would have been the case at any time in history that double earners couldn't be outcompeted. My point is that now there's no going back, and if we hadn't integrated women into the workforce, then it wouldn't have become the thing to do. If I'm giving my unsolicited opinion, women's lib is overall a good thing and an ethically necessary thing, for the reasons you stated. I just think we did it too fast and too early in the development of global society, for purely pragmatic reasons.

I agree with you. However, I think there are a lot of valid criticisms on first wave feminism. Again, I agree with you, women should have equal rights. However, there's an argument to be made that getting women out of the house and into the work force created a LOT of problems that we might not be able to solve. Chief among them the erosion of the family unit, child rearing in general, and the fact that it created an economy where both parents need to be working to make ends meet for the vast ma…

Right! And I feel like this is an underrated comment. I'm too young to remember, but I personally think it's fine that women wanted to pretend they had the moral high ground, and that they were emotionally and morally superior to men, because we got to be smart and strong, and there was a lot of collective eye rolling at each other, and that was all in good fun. Granted, sufferage needed to happen for women, and I totally support women having more autonomy for themselves, but you've hit the nail…

Yes, I'm a male (what sub do you think this is???), and I'm also an ex-bouncer. I only did it for a couple of years, and I'm a pretty large guy. I'll tell you right now, if a man of that height hit me in the face that hard, I would have taken him down and called the police. That's assault, plain and simple, like you said, and deserves a proportionate response. It's not about her being weaker.
