Not necessarily. If she’s in the US, only 8 states recognize common law marriage and each of those states have different requirements, many (or maybe all) of which require that the couple recognize the relationship as a marriage. So it’s not like the government sits there and says “oh, you’ve lived together 10 years? Common law!” Elsewhere in the world is looks like de facto marriage requires that the couple represents themselves as being married.

Very well could be a fake story, it’s from AITA. The host of the podcast reads stories from there and then discusses with the guests.

100% they know, if they thought it was a medical issue I (hope) the conversation would have been different. If it was an actual medical thing that he was denying, I very highly doubt he’d be announcing every single time he wet his pants.

The whole setup of the podcast is the host reads an AITA story and some of the comments and then she discusses with the guest(s). I haven’t listened to a ton of them and it’s been a while since I’ve listened to any, but I don’t remember her defending any LVM/W. Also she’s read the story and comments already and knows what’s coming, so it’s easy for her to read with a flatter tone.

That’s why I love Lawyer Kelly on Instagram/Tik Tok. Her stance boils down to: When you don’t create your own prenup, you’re agreeing to the prenup of the state.

I wonder how this compares to the life expectancy in gay and lesbian couples.

You did post it (or someone did)! Absolutely insanity that women are not allowed to have boundaries if it stifles men. “BDSM is great and all about respecting boundaries and consent. It’s a loving community and a safe space! ...wait...you don’t want anal? That’s so basic, you must not actually like sex at all. And I can’t believe you don’t want your partner screwing someone else, he has needs you know! Maybe just do don’t ask/don’t tell so you don’t get jealous. You know, some women are turned o…

It actually stands for negative 50 / additional 50, but has been shorted over the years (initially to -50/+50, and then to just 50/50). It means he brings -50% to the table and she brings the additional 50%, thus making up 100% of their relationship. /s.... but is it tho...?

It sounds so cliche, but remind yourself that the past is the past and their behavior is not a reflection of you. There’s nothing you can do about this now, these men were learning experiences and it’s time to move forward. Being angry is a waste of energy and thought. It can take time to change your way of thinking, don’t be too hard on yourself and remember how far you’ve come.

I highly recommend getting a pepper gel if you have an aerosol spray. Aerosols can result in the spray getting in your face and eyes if there is wind or if you are in an small/enclosed space. A gelled pepper spray will send a directed stream into your attacker’s face.

Second part still stands. Nothing says he doesn’t know how to do those things, I’ve taught both women and men that flowers need to be cut at a 45 for them to last longer. Idk how he presented them to her, the vase she was putting them in was one she was going to sell but decided to keep for herself, it’s quite possible she was excited about the vase so he brought flowers to fill it. But maybe I’m optimistic because every time my dad surprises my mom with flowers he cuts the ends and puts them in…

Girl, move on. He does the small task of driving to you (ask yourself why, is your place nicer than his?), but couldn’t be bothered to do what you want on your birthday? You made breakfast and he barely got out of bed. There’s not necessarily anything wrong with being a homebody, but he sounds like a LV stoner at best.

Agreed, I just thought the green flag flair was the best option for what’s available. I never said the guy was HV either, just that he went out of his way to do something nice and it made this woman’s day a bit brighter.

💯 So sorry you went through that. We all know that LVM men can be great at love bombing. It’s important for these gestures to continue and that they are not the ONLY sign of affection.

In the US 3 women are killed every day by an intimate partner and that number is rising. Maybe she meant abduction / murder by a stranger is extremely rare, but even then the NCBI states that more than twice as many women were shot and killed by their husband or intimate acquaintance than were murdered by strangers. I’ll keep my mace on me, thank you very much.

You should take screenshots and send it to their current employer. They are a representation of the company and that’s not an appropriate way to “network”.

He’s slow on texting back after 3 months of dating we barely met in 2 months You’ve been dating him all of 3 month, 2 of which he’s barely been available if at all. If he wanted to make the time, he would. And it sounds like you’re more into who you thought he was as opposed to who he actually is.

That’s so generous of you to picture him going to the store with her to sort the groceries. He waits to look at the receipt after because grocery shopping is beneath him. All I can picture is him reading the list and going “Oh, you got an unseasoned rotisserie chicken for dinner because that’s what was left? You know I prefer seasoned, clearly you bought this for yourself so it goes on your tab.” And then he proceeds to eat 2/3 of the chicken.

Honestly, I think that response gives too much of an option for him to say he's ok with it. Stick to short and simple "I'm sorry, I'm busy right now." If he continues, then say "I really am busy" and walk away. I don't remember which chapter(s) it is in the book, but you should read the stalking section. While he might be harmless, it sounds like he's stalking you. You've adjusted your times are doing different things and he's constantly somehow there when you are and on top of them goes well ou…

Given your description of the area, I think saying something dismissive but not rude is the way to go. Still be careful, if you get any sort of weird feeling about him or while at the park you should listen to your gut. Hopefully he's just a pathetic lonely man who will move on. I highly recommend reading The Gift of Fear. It's extremely intense at some parts, but the fact that this guy is willing to wait around for you is a red flag. Stay safe!

I’ve often had love bombing be words and physical gifts. It’s often (but not always) stuff that is cheap for them, but might not be for you. I think that’s so important to remember. When someone starts taking care of you, it’s easy to become accustomed to and feel dependent on that lifestyle. This is why financial independence is so important. Always, always, always save what you can. You don’t need to be rich on your own, but you do need to be secure.

It’s important to remember that he was abusive. Abusers don’t successfully maintain relationships because they’re assholes all of the time. They can be sweet, kind, generous, and thoughtful. It’s part of the cycle of abuse, it’s what draws victims back in because “it wasn’t that bad”, “he won’t do it again” or “I’m exaggerating things”. It’s hard to admit when there is abuse, I personally feel that’s double for emotional abuse because of the “but he didn’t hit me” excuse. I’m so sorry you had to…

Love is not enough and “no” is a complete sentence. When he says he wants to talk things out, “No.” If he asks to stay a few nights to get things in order, “No.” He has X number of days to get he stuff out or it will be brought to be donated. Not sitting on the curb where he can just come pick it up after you’ve done the labor. Not in trash bags where he can attempt to do the same. Donated. Have the locks changed. Have a friend with you when he picks up his stuff. If you don’t want him rummaging…

“Not wanting” online therapy is an excuse. He needs help and unfortunately that means telehealth. It’s definitely not ideal for a lot of people, but it is what it is. As far as “tablets don’t work”, my understanding of any medication for mental health is that they are not one size fits all and it can take time to 1) adjust to the medication and 2) find the right medication for you. He’s actively trying to not get better because sitting at home and collecting disability is easy, especially when h…

Can you guarantee you’ll never be out of sight of another person? Actually 100% bet your life on the fact that you will never be out of sight of another person (emphasizing the fact that YOU will not be out of sight, as in another group has eyes on you). But honestly if you say you like hiking and he asks for a hiking “date”, then he might as well be asking for a walking date. There are other ways to figure out if you’re compatible in the morning, like asking “are you a morning person or a night…

Save that for when you’re in an actual relationship and know the person. Hiking with a stranger is not safe.

Don’t go into the woods with a stranger, that goes well beyond the issue of a possibly cheap man and falls under a safety concern. You should not go to isolated places alone with strangers EVER. Definitely wait until you’re in a relationship. What you should/could do depends on what’s around you and what your interests are beyond hiking. Also, you shouldn’t be asking him on dates or planning the dates, so see what he suggests.

I saw her post about food being cross posted to FDS recently. Giiiiiiirl, throw the whole damn man out....you go to him, you pay to go to him, and on top of that you pay for your food after you’ve gone to him!? Why would he change when he has a free bangmaid with meals and delivery included?
