Clothing and cosmetics. Women have a much greater variety of fashion/cosmetic choices that are considered acceptable for them to wear. Men generally have to stick to a few certain clothing styles and haircuts, cannot wear makeup, etc. I personally would love to wear long, floral coats and decorate myself with every color on the palette, but I don't because my family would 100% tear me a new one over it and I'd be ridiculed for the rest of my life. Balding. No explanation required here. People be…

This is not an exaggeration. During my sophomore year of high school, the (male) teacher was going over what to do in case of an intruder/shooter and straight up said that it was the responsibility of the male students to help the female students escape first before trying to save themselves.

If the relations between the sexes were good, then we wouldn't have places like TRP, FDS, and all the other incel/femcel shitholes that exist online.

This isn't the same as race-based segregation. Race-based segregation was about a majority race imposing its will on a minority race with the express intent of disenfranchising the minority race and denying them access to power. This is not the same, because men and women make up a roughly equal proportion of the society and this system would be done for the benefit of both. You also say that this would worsen the issues, but is it not true that the current situation is worsening the issues as w…

I was actually remembering about an argument that I'd had on here a while ago, and started thinking about it a bunch and remembering all of the other bullshit I've been hearing and I just got a little worked up.

These are messages that I've seen online, and I've picked it up because many of my female peers are buying into it and reposting/sharing these messages. But no, these are thankfully not messages that have been officially pushed at my school, and I feel pretty lucky in that regard because I've heard horror stories from other guys who did experience that.

I'm from the United States (North Carolina), I'm actually quite lucky in the sense that my school never pushed any explicitly anti-male ideas onto us (keyword: explicit), most of the stuff I'm describing here is from my peers and other people on the internet. I can't imagine what it's like to actually have your school saying these kinds of things.

Okay, keep in mind this is just a theory that's based off my own experience as a man. In general, there are two certain ideas imbued in men from a young age about what it means to be masculine. The first one is that men must be "tough" (everyone knows this already), and the second one is that being "tough" for a man is defined as being able to endure pain and suffering (think of all the stupid, painful and outright dangerous things men do to prove themselves to other men) . Men then develop an i…

Sure, I'll give a few: There is a certain set of ideas amongst some (but not all) men that it's okay to grope/catcall/harass women or make lewd comments about them, this is generally confined to older (50+) men but it's definitely still a problem. Men are generally piss-poor when it comes to expressing their feelings/needs. I'd imagine that this could be pretty frustrating for women because it's a barrier to the emotional openness and intimacy that's necessary for a healthy relationship, and bad…

Don't know, I'm just asking this based off what I'm perceiving online, and what I'm perceiving is that women admire these men for their feminine presentation.

I think it's all perception. We still perceive millennials as being in their early-to-mid twenties (an age when having children is rather uncommon), when the majority of them are now in their thirties and the oldest are pushing 40. The people we think of as millennials are actually late zoomers, while the real millennials have moved into the stage of their lives where they are in fact settling down with children.

Yes, the propagation of social media and the internet has caused an explosion in the number of people who are socially mal-adjusted and incapable of interacting with others in a normal manner.

I'll concede here in regards to the first 75% and the last section of your paragraph. I got overly defensive and wrote a reply without enough thought put into it. However: As another poster said, men are being held accountable finally. And they hate it. Men do not hate the fact that rapists, abusers, and the mentality that they have is being called out. Virtually every woman I know has been subject to catcalling, harassment, and even full-on assault. I am aware of the fact that there is a certai…

Replace the word men with women/girls throughout this and you get a glimpse of what women have been dealing with since the dawn of time with the sexist rhetoric that is a part of daily life. I think these men will cope. Two wrongs don't make a right. It seems that you view men as getting their "just desserts", even when the majority of men receiving these messages have done absolutely nothing to oppress or victimize women. And yes, self-actualized and stable men will most likely be able to deal …

In what way is advocating for forced sterilization and outright elimination of the male gender a "valid response"?

Do you believe that all males are abusive?

No, it doesn't mean white supremacy is on the rise. However, you could probably find 100+ hours of 1950s racist rhetoric with 30 minutes of Googling. The same cannot be said for misandry. Really the only example of pre-1970s man-hating was Valerie Solanas, and her views were considered insane by the vast majority of men and women. So, yes, I at least perceive misandry to be on the rise because the amount of rhetoric surrounding it has exploded in recent years.

You must be on some very niche circles of the internet if you are finding advocates for male sterilization. Nope. In fact, just check out u/somegenerichandle in this very reply section. I don't think this is a very niche circle of the internet. And men sure as hell don’t like being held accountable or being called out as a gender. You are correct, I do not like or appreciate being held accountable for the actions of people who are not me. I think most men would feel this way if you asked them. I…

Oh, lord. No, I am not a commie who hates free speech. And it seems that you've missed my point entirely - the problem lies not in jokes or casual remarks of frustration, but in the violent rhetoric that seems to have become quite pervasive lately.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. I'm not disabled and can use TikTok (I don't, BTW), so therefore sexism isn't a problem?

Immature and not an appropriate response to a woman sharing her viewpoint.

I think that your age right now heavily influenced your perception. Yes, I know, me being younger than you automatically means I am functionally infantile and incapable of rational thought or holding informed opinions. I'd be willing to bet that if I were to pry more, you'd tell me that my thoughts and beliefs are the result of "manipulation" and "brainwashing" rather than stuff that I made independent conclusions about. I know the kind of culture surrounding women and “feminazis” that infests m…

Masculinity is not a social construct. It is merely a collection of traits that occur in greater frequency and to a higher degree in men.

I am also am not supporting that system. I think you are. When you talked about sundown panhandling laws, the way you posed them in your question suggests that you are in support of them, the implication being that it is appropriate to take punitive action against an entire group for the misbehavior of a few. You also asked that question to counter my opposition to collectively punishing men, so it's a simple step of logic to conclude that you believe it is then appropriate to take punitive acti…

Ok, I know I won't change your mind in a million years but I'll bite. First of all, yes, I am against panhandling laws, because I don't hate poor people. Second, you're supporting a system in which half the population is having a medical procedure forced on them for no other reason than presumptions about their future behavior (e.g. rape or unwanted pregancy) based on whether they have a y-chromosome or not. Your point comparing it to chemical sterilization is moot because women are not being fo…

I think that they should face backlash that is proportional to what a man would face if he said those kinds of things about women.

So advocating for forced sterilization, restriction of freedoms, etc. for a whole group of people based on actions of certain members of that group is "accountability"? Got it.

I'm not baffled at all. Nowhere did I say that I was baffled by this. I recognize that a lot of women have suffered ill-treatment on the part of men, and actually am in agreement with a lot of feminist ideas. I am well aware that circles of misogyny exist, and believe me, a lot of the stuff they say makes me want to throw up. But you have to agree that society in general has overwhelming disdain for their ideas, and the vast majority of men have no inclination to associate with them. Incels are …
