Don't waste your time worrying about how to become a man, but rather decide that the only thing worth becoming is you. Be kind to yourself.

Lilly Tomlin once said that she was afraid that drugs made us more creative than we really are.

In a cowardly sort of way, perhaps.

Ah, yes, now I get it. Well done. Well done indeed! Since I was not swift enough to get your joke, you will probably smile when I tell you we have similar senses of humor. Sadly instead of enjoying the joke, I had to use your question to ego trip on an eight month old AMA. Thanks.

I'm in no hurry to be 72, but it does appear that the years get shorter as I age. Time seems to fly by faster than I can keep up.

I think it answers you better that my prose. "you, who are searchi…

It seems to come down to just being a good friend, to yourself and others. One thing I have learned is that it is within the rules to pretend to be wiser and kinder than you really are. Good luck.

It has taken awhile, I'm 71, but I am reaching the stage where I am beginning to realize that I never needed to improve myself. I was and am just fine being me. In fact, the more that I realized that I wasn't in need of improvement the more that I begin to truly approve of myself. I sort of regret all the time wasted on self-improvement, but not really.

You might have avoided the whole thing by simply catching her eye and asking, "Do I really strike you as the type of guy that needs to prove himself to others?"

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
